i tend to group them together bc honestly i haven’t thought much to flesh them out- mostly i just enjoy the newsies having a set of evenly matched villains for them lmao. but yes yes.

mostly when it comes to them i think about the fact that their dad was a union member who deserved better pay and whose union was making fair demands, and… he as an individual is a bad person. it is so, so fascinating, since in my mind i do associate unions with “the good guys”, bc they are, but individuals can be horrible and still deserve rights. like bro. the nuance.

so i think about the delanceys. the brothers. and i think about their employer being a family member, their uncle, who is well aware that all those two boys know is bad treatment and decides to treat them just a bit better than bad so they’re loyal and thankful. and i think about oscar and morris watching the newsies stop working just because they’re getting treated just a bit worse than usual.

how pathetic. right? these kids the delanceys have scrapped with for years, half growing up alongside lots of them, are having this huge hissy fit with all these consequences just because they’re upset. those goddamn babies, those whiny, weak, pieces of shit don’t even know that them stopping work is fucking with oscar and morris’s pay- and hell, wiesel’s too. the newises don’t get the bigger picture, and neither did their dad. so fuck them and their little strike, fuck them for not sucking it up and surviving like the delanceys. those kids aren’t better than them- they’re worse, they’re weaker, and jack and the rest’ll pay for it, too, while oscar and morris get paid their rightful dues for surviving, for out-surviving those less capable of strength. >:)
