The Demiurges Headcanons

- Rudy tries to record her own raps sometimes. Jess has some musical knowledge playing the piano, though he mostly knows only soul and jazz. So he’d try and help her create instrumentals. And when she actually raps he’s sort of frightened because she raps so aggressively.

- Brody and Rudy are the ultimate chaos duo. They get detentions together and you bet strict teachers hate them. 

- Akilah is actually pretty knowledgable in social justice, history, and politics for her age, so at school, usually in history class, when some student brings up a really dumb and insensitive topic, she’s very calm and patient and will shut them down and embarrass them. 

- Akilah plays the ukulele!! She’ll record little videos of her writing cute original songs about love and little bunny rabbits and whatnot. Rudy might record her doing that and at the end you’ll hear Rudy go “YEAHHH THAT’S MY GIRLFRIENNDD” and Akilah just giggles, turns away and blushes because she absolutely cannot process compliments.

- Elysse sometimes spends hours on her iPad just watching documentaries or Creepypasta videos. She loves spooky things, even if she’s as unnerved as everybody else is by the content in those videos. She does the thing where the video is playing but at the same time she just scrolls through the comments. Sometimes Brody will watch them with her and he’s like “How the hell can you watch this” because he’s spooked.

- Akilah and Rudy and Jess have a secret handshake that’s so complicated and weird that Brody and Elysse cannot comprehend a single second of it.

- Brody’s the strongest out of all of them, so he’ll spend time just lifting each of them up the best he can or getting into armwrestles with Rudy. Rudy licked her wrestling hand once before putting it against Brody’s and he made the most disgusted sound on earth before jolting away. Akilah recorded the video, Elysse constantly brings it up, and Jess watches the video whenever he needs a little pick-me-up.

Cyrus softly smirked back. One thing to note about his was that he hadn’t opened his mouth or showed teeth, instead, he was smiling with his mouth closed, and his eye showing just as much emotion as the other was showing to him.

“I- obviously I am. I haven’t encountered anything but humans here. With how… odd this place is, you’d think it’d draw attention to more aliens.”

The Rasporda squinted. He didn’t quite get the hint that he was being admired in such a way, but perhaps that was for the best for this Paul, as Cyrus wasn’t someone who liked to be admired. Not just because of his poor self esteem, but because he knew he had flaws. He was just as flawed as any Human would be.

“Please don’t, my wings are sensitive. I’d prefer to keep them from being touched, I don’t like how it feels.”

Cyrus definitely appreciated being asked for once. He’d had his wings touched without permission before, and it was quite awkward.

“I will remember that,” Paul said before winking. He took a few more steps forward, crossing his arms and shyly putting his hands in the pockets of his overalls. “You’ve got very pretty wings. I wonder what’d it be like to have wings.”

There was an odd sort of gleam in his eyes. His eyes were a completely black color, as black and blank as the void itself. Or maybe pretty obsidian coins. He was looking at Cyrus in some sort of attractiveness or admiration.

Or maybe it was just hungry. 

“Where’d you come from?” Paul asked, tilting his head. “Space? You an alien of some sort?” He was now only a few feet away from Cyrus. He didn’t seem hostile, not at all. Just really calm and content. 

Then he smiled. It wasn’t... natural. It seemed to stretch thinly, far on each side of his face. Maybe he just had a bad smile.

Cyrus blindly followed. Literally; he couldn’t see in the dark that well. He still occasionally stopped to regain his bearings, but seemed more determined to follow whatever this odd thing was.

The kid knew nothing about Em Auri’s paranormal sightings, or anything about the paranormal in general. As a result, he didn’t even consider the danger in what he was doing. Odd, coming from someone who raised himself on the idea that nothing and no one was truly safe.

Cyrus sat down once the deer vanished, mumbling to himself.

“What a waste–”

He was cut short when the boy stepped out. This was weird, but the two were in the middle of nowhere now, and this guy seemed to gentle to turn Cyrus in, right?

“I guess I am. Who are you?”

“Call me Paul,” the boy said, grinning sweetly. His eyes sparkled like crescent moons, and he ran a hand through his pure white hair. “Who’re you, stranger? Some kind of... alien?” He smirked. “Fun.”

None of that was in a mocking tone. In fact, Paul actually sounded very... curious, like he was admiring Cyrus. He looked him up and down, his smile as soft as a cloud. “I love your wings,” he whispered. “So very pretty. I’ve never seen wings like that before.”

Paul took careful steps forward. “I’m sorry... may I feel them? I don’t want to step over your boundaries, stranger. They just look so unique.”

Cyrus squinted painfully at that ringing, and shuttered when it stopped.

The Rasporda squinted once again, this time doubtfully, trying to think. What is that thing? What is it trying to tell him, if it’s even telling him anything at all.

Most people like Cyrus would say curiosity killed the cat. Unfortunately, stupidity probably killed more cats than curiosity. Besides, the poor kid was a bit delirious anyway. He’s the perfect little toy, or worse, prey, at the moment.

He followed, occasionally stopping to get his head to stop spinning, at least a little bit. Why is he so tired again?

The eyes led Cyrus deep in the the woods. Moment after moment, it’d disappear... and then reappear from the shadows, somehow glowing brighter than before. The eyes got closer to Cyrus when he kept following it, and in the pale moonlight that was left, the eyes belonged to the silhouette of a deer.

Odd noises continued to strum into Cyrus’ head. They grew in volume, then faded. At the same time, the deer stepped back into the shadows and vanished. 

Or did it...?

The deer’s white silhouette transformed into one of a tall, thin, smooth and pale-skinned young man. He seemed to be around Cyrus’ age, if not a little bit older. His face was ovalish and sculpted to perfection. His hair was pure white and cut beautifully against his scalp. He wore a pair of brown overalls over a red shirt. When he turned to look at Cyrus, his eyes were a deep dark brown. He was handsome. Stunning and handsome and pretty all at once.

The odd noises in Cyrus’ head were completely gone now. The old boy gave Cyrus a gentle smile.

“Are you lost?”

Cyrus squinted. Where the hell did Brody get the idea of Cyrus asking for help? The kid never had the audacity to do so! Asking for help just wasn’t something Cyrus could do. It was wrong. He already fended for himself, even if he didn’t do a great job.

“Brody.” He huffed. “I never asked for you to help me. I don’t ask for help. Ever. You can literally just ignore me. Why didn’t you?”

Cyrus just hopelessly sighed as Brody walked off.

The emptier, the better for the poor kid. It made his life that much easier, even though he was trying to lay low for now. He had no plans on breaking and entering at all until he got more answers about whoever the hell it was that told him he’d benefit from sticking around.

Cyrus just stared at the eyes. He was sitting around, but he stood. Just in case.

“…Are you… the one who told me to stay…?“

The eyes glowed mystically and mysteriously as it linked eye contact with Cyrus. Slowly, Cyrus would be able to hear a gradual ringing in his brain, one that sounded like a voice -- or was it like the shrieking of metal? It was a little bit of both, but then it suddenly went silent without a word.

Was it speaking? Out loud? Cyrus would be questioning if the thing had even spoken in the first place, like he was suffering from a small episode of amnesia.

The eyes shrank into the forest, leading the way to hope...

Cyrus didn’t know that. He had yet to encounter anything strange about this place yet. For all he knew, it was a normal town with normal people in it. He didn’t know things were about to get a whole lot scarier for him.

“I will.“ He squinted, looking Brody up and down. He sighed, the squint turning into a bit of a glare.

“You don’t gotta lie to me. “

Brody huffed harshly and growled over his shoulder, “Can you leave me alone?” He clenched his fists and felt angry heat rise to his face. “You’ve been popping around all over the place and I just want you to fend for yourself when I ask you to!” He didn’t turn around, and he stomped away.

Later that night, Cyrus would find himself wandering the streets at nighttime. There wasn’t really anybody around to see him. Em Auri was an empty place, especially when the sky was dark.

But across the road, he’d be able to see a dense forest and two white eyes staring right at him.

When Rudy grows up, she slowly, bit by bit, is revealed to not be human. It’s just because of her spiritual connection with Ormad that slowly starts affecting her with Negativity.

So, she has similar traits to him! Black lips, eyelids, fully colored eyes, some form of greyish skin. Her skin is pinkish instead of purplish like Ormad’s.

And instead of having multi-colored freckles all over her body, she has lightning bolt marks!

Brody repressed the urge to roll his eyes. He didn’t have any time to listen to someone monologue or speak about how safe this town made them feel. This was a stranger’s trap. Everybody in this town knew everybody. If an unfamiliar treaded into the streets?

Well, expect a few raspy voices to sing them to sleep.

“Then get familiar,” Brody snapped. “I, I need to go home.” He turned around sharply and wanted to stomp away, but he couldn’t drag his feet down the street. 

“I need to go home and do my homework.” A lie. “I’d rather be home, okay? I’m going to leave you here.”

“Oh- don’t worry. I definitely won’t do that right now. I’ll do it later, when I’m fully back on my feet, I got spare time, and Ziggy wouldn’t be expecting a strange inconvenience to his life one way or another.”

He shrugged. “You won’t. I promise. To be honest, I think that situation woulda worked out in my favor had I not been sick as Europe during The Plague.”

The Rasporda blinked. “No that’s… that’s understandable. We all have lives, even if they’re shitty. I guess we all have things we gotta do.”

Brody’s gaze slowly sharpened into a glare as he looked Cyrus up and down, glaring at him as if he were the worst guy in the world. He really wanted to turn around and just leave. He didn’t want to be someone’s savior, and he didn’t want to be someone’s nurse, either. His early childhood had been robbed away from him, and he wasn’t going to let the teenage years be snatched, either.

But... he couldn’t turn his heel. He couldn’t move his legs. All he could do was stare at Cyrus, wanting to place all the blame on someone he barely even knew -- someone who was much more vulnerable than he was.

“So what are you gonna do now?” Brody asked quietly, trying to keep the fire from his voice. Control it. You’re in control. “You still don’t have anywhere to go?”

“Well, that’s good, I guess, ‘cuz it’s not like I have any money or anything, and when someone’s possession goes missing, it’s easier to notice than when a raw steak left in the fridge or something is gone, if you catch my hint.”

Jess recognizing Cyrus was very understandable, but interestingly enough, chances are Cyrus would’ve smelled him too. Maybe the thief did, but forgot it happened.

His expression went from relieved back to the usual. He crossed his arms.

“Take a guess.” He sighed. “I know, it’s wrong. I try to steal from people who seem well off, not people who’s homes look like they’re about to lose it. And, no, I don’t recall. I could have, but I wouldn’t know as I obviously didn’t see his face. I’ve got it remembered, though. I’ll be sure he loses something special later.”

“Please don’t,” Brody sighed, massaging the bridge of his nose. “I don’t wanna let you get into any more trouble than you already have.” Besides, who would want to mess with Ziggy? He was an idiot, but his dad wasn’t. His dad was exactly like his son -- except twice as bad.

“And-- And I don’t care how much you wanna steal from him,” he continued a bit more sharply. “If I have to save your ass again, I’m gonna be pissed.” 

He paused before averting his gaze and muttering, “Sorry if that sounds harsh, but I don’t wanna be your savior. I’ve got my own things to worry about, you know?”

Cyrus nods at Jess. “Yeah uh… I know that part.” He took note of the boy’s expression, but couldn’t figure out why he was acting that way, and quickly just came to the conclusion that it made nothing.

“Oh.” The Rasporda blinks. “So I didn’t forget anything, that’s good.”

He turns to Jess, reading his lips, and ultimately decided he’d just not bother to thank him. He barely knew the kid and didn’t need another person to get attached to.

Brody, however, was a different story. Cyrus awkwardly shook his hand back, looking at his hand.

“Yeah. Me neither. Thank you for what you did… is there anything I can do to repay you?”

He was actually considering on leaving town after he recovered, but now…

…He wasn’t sure he wanted to. The feeling of wanting someone around at all felt odd, and wrong. In fact, he still wasn’t 100% sure he trusted the idea that Brody being nice to him was actually out of kindness.

“Hm,” Brody hummed, and he rubbed his thumb on his chin, pretending to be deep in thought. “No. I can’t think of anything at all.” Honestly, he wasn’t the one Cyrus should’ve been thanking. Jess was the one who came all the way over here and saved his life from a bunch of bad injuries and a literal fever. But Brody said nothing about it. 

Something felt off. It was as if Jess recognized Cyrus from somewhere. Perhaps he’d seen the Rasporda on the loose once or twice, or perhaps he saw him on a news article. Jess had every right to fear him; he was the only person in the Demiurgic group who had no proper ability he could use to defend himself. He was as skinny as a stick as well.

“How’d you get out here?” Brody asked. “And... why are you out here? You still going around taking things from people?” 

He pursed his lips. Shouldn’t have said that.

“I mean, did you steal anything from Ziggy? Those kids? Maybe that’s why they went after you. That’s just what I meant. Didn’t mean to accuse you of anything.”

In truth, Ziggy and his gang just stumbled upon Cyrus and decided to pick on him. There wasn’t any other reason why they hurt him. Maybe they recognized him, too.

Cyrus responded to Brody’s reassurance with a low, gravelly groan. It was a response, but probably more of a way to express discomfort than approval. He wasn’t currently able to speak clearly, so implied consent was at play here.

The Rasporda listened in to what was being said once Jess arrived, but forgot what was being said right as he processed it.

Once that healing was done, Cyrus closed his eye for a brief bit, and then reopened it and blinked, slightly confused. He slowly sat up, rubbing his forehead.

“…Could… anybody explain what happened? I want to know, just in case I forgot something.”

“I... healed you,” Jess said carefully, not being able to stop himself from looking fearful. His fists were clenched at his sides, and he took a step back, eyes not leaving Cyrus. “With my powers.”

“I think he meant before,” Brody elaborated. “Well, uh, a bunch of kids went ahead and beat you up. Then I came around and scared them off. And uh... Jess healed you.” It felt weird explaining all of this. Ashamedly, it felt like he was a teacher speaking to a kindergartener. Yes, he hated admitting it, but it was all he could come up with.

Jess took a deep breath. Then he looked over at Brody before mouthing, “I’m going to go now.”

Brody slowly nodded before Jess left. Then he looked at Cyrus, straightened his back, and outstretched a hand.

“Never thought I’d see you again.”

Cyrus occasionally lifted a wing to keep an eye on what was going on, but couldn’t really process what was happening here. Eventually, he gave up on trying.

He was shaking, but it could’ve very well been fever chills, or the weather. The boy did uncover his face, and tiredly and sadly looked up at Brody.

As for his current state, the area on his side kicked was bruised, but it was probably covered by his shirt anyway. His tail, however, had a very nice looking bruise. To make matters worse? It was swollen. Badly.

Thank his hollow bones.

Brody didn’t need Cyrus to tell him he was hurting badly because the boy automatically grimaced and hissed through his teeth upon seeing the swollen tail. His brows furrowed and his lips were tugged into a soft frown. He patted the ground gently. Fortunately, he’d been in situations like this many times before, and he came home clean thanks to a certain friend. 

“Hang in there, alright?” Brody encouraged. “I’m gonna call someone who’s gonna help you out.”

And that was no lie. It was excruciatingly some time before this someone showed up, but he did come. It was a skinny boy with big black eyes and colorful blue hair. It almost looked like he had marbles for pupils with how round and shiny they were. When he walked into the alleyway, he whispered hello to Brody before coming to an abrupt stop.

Jess opened his mouth. Then he closed it.

“Can you heal him?” Brody asked.

“O-Of course,” Jess said, and he cautiously knelt down to Cyrus. He pressed one of his palms against his shoulder. A blue glow began to emit from his fingers, spreading all through Cyrus’ body. Cyrus’ wounds would heal -- as well as the fever he had.

The Rasporda placed his wings over top his head, shielding his face from these kids, which wasn’t going to do much considering what he felt was about to happen. Little one just wanted peace… and if he was going to get it by being beaten up, he might as well accept it.

Cyrus squeaked, tensing up at the scream, not recognizing who it came from until the kid mentioned his name. The green one’s mind could only produce a single clear thought.

“…Friend…?”

He also tried to take note of Ziggy’s name, attempting to repeat it in his head, but honestly couldn’t think much at all, so that wasn’t very helpful. While this went down, Cyrus kept himself covered up. He readily accepted Brody’s help getting out of the way.

Once Cyrus was out of the way, Brody looked upon his bruised and beaten body in sympathy. His eyes became soft, as soft as a vibrant blue lake, for many seconds. Then they hardened. He stepped in front of Cyrus and pulled out his bat.

“You gonna beat us up now?” Ziggy questioned. “You wouldn’t.”

“I’m not gonna hurt you guys,” Brody replied calmly but sternly. The children were glaring at each other, but the way they spoke wasn’t in rage. They were speaking to each other as if they were grudging acquaintances.

“Then you might as well leave,” Ziggy told him. He crossed his arms. “He’s ours.”

“He’s not.”

“Fine. Drag that guy off, then. We’ll find him again later.”

Brody’s shoulder rose up and down. Then, suddenly, his gaze darted to the left. In his ears, he heard a low, inhuman growl. But to Cyrus and everybody else, they heard nothing.

He thought: Scare ‘em off.

Ziggy was suddenly hoisted into the air by an invisible force, and he let out a scream.

“Hey,” Brody said softly to Cyrus, kneeling down to the covered Rasporda. “You can take your wings off now. They’re gone. I scared them off.”

Brody’s bat was put away, and when Cyrus opened his eye, he would see that Ziggy and the other boys were gone. Completely. There wasn’t much that happened beforehand -- except screaming and the sound of shoes slapping desperately against the concrete for escape.

“They ain’t hurt,” Brody said. “Just gone.”
