He sighed at the confirmation, nodding as though accepting that he couldnāt change that fact. He felt terrible, however, knowing that he had been gone so long. He was just thankful that Kurt was still there. If he hadnāt been there for whatever reason⦠Of course, John would have been able to find him somehow. He would have been determined. Kurt was the last thing he had. He smiled at the use of āJonathanā wondering if he would ever tell the mutant that John Hart was just a name heād grown attached to.
āThatās good,ā he responded quietly, nodding again. He propped up his forearms on his knees, staring back at Kurt again. He chuckled and shrugged lightly. āI dunno. If itās been so long⦠well⦠Iām just glad you were here. āCause I missed you.ā He licked his lips and looked down for a moment, sighing with a smile. āI can travel through all of space and time yetā¦ā He looked up, scrunching his face in thought before turning back to Kurt. āNothingās quite like here. Not to mention thereās absolutely nobody else like you.ā He nodded, grinning a bit wider. āNo, I think Iāll be staying here for uh⦠quite a while. A really long whileā¦ā The grin faded and he sighed again, dropping his gaze to the ground. āI uh⦠I wish I could say Iād had a nice time away.ā
He did often wonder if his use of Jonathan rather than John bothered him at all. He'd not ever mentioned it, it had merely become a thing that was just there. But the smile that appeared did reassure Kurt a significant amount, and so he found himself smiling just as brightly. Time alone had made the mutant very much appreciate the effect that pleasant company had. He'd not talked, smiled this much in a very long time, always the quiet and mysterious being lurking in the shadows. It did make for very hard work.
"How ever long it may be, I suppose the only logical stance on the matter would be to miss you more than previously as time goes on?" Kurt asked, head tilted curiously as he thought it through, yellow eyes looking over at John for confirmation of his theory. But then he let out a laugh, hardly surprised that John couldn't find any one else that looked as he did. "If you found some one similar to myself, I would feel very sorry for them indeed." he joked, though only lightheartedly. As the other's grin faded, so did Kurt's, a small frown appearing. "If you do wish to tell me, you may, of course. But if you would rather not, I won't pry." he said quietly, the tip of his tail giving his friend a sympathetic pat on the arm.
