summary: you sneak into the tower to see peter but get caught while on a snack run
You wouldnt say you’re an overly clingy girlfriend, at least not enough to put you in the crazy category, but isnt everyone clingy to some extent?
Since it’s finally the weekend, you’re hoping to spend some quality time with your boyfriend because lets be real, being in school together is not quality time. Unless you count playing tic-tac-toe on the back of chemistry worksheets.
Only twenty minutes until your shift at work is over and you made sure to finish your chores before so you dont have to worry about that. The store is completely empty right now, so you sneak into the break room and pull out your phone, dialing Peter’s number.
“Hey baby! Aren’t you working?” His voice is music to your ears, honestly.
“Yeah but hey, are you at the tower tonight?”
From the bottom of you heart you hope that it’s a yes, which would makes things so much easier.
“Yup. Tony was going over some new suit designs with me. Why- whats up?”
“Im gonna come by after work-“ you spare a quick glance to the clock on the wall, “-see you in half an hour.”
The last ten minutes of your shift go by in the blink of an eye and before you know it you’re on your way to see Peter. Getting into the tower is easy enough since everyone knows who you are. Everyone except for the Avengers themselves.
When Peter tried telling them that he had a girlfriend, they laughed and assumed it was a joke. A couple believed him, but that was all. So you remain nothing but a fairy tale in their eyes, which is another reason you only visit the tower at night. The last thing you want to do is get caught by one of them. In the long run, what really could they do? But still, you have to admit they do scare you a teeny tiny bit.
Peter is already waiting for you when you step off the elevator, greeting you with a peck on the cheek. He wraps an arm around you and leads you to his bedroom, walking quietly so you dont wake anyone up.
“I missed you.” You stick out your bottom lip in a pout.
“And?” You prompt, knowing full well that he’s just messing around.
The two of you lay in his bed, Peter propped up on one elbow, looking down at you. He runs a hand through your hair while you talk about your day and what went on at work, which is unbearably boring, but Peter couldn’t care less. He would listen to you talk about the color blue so long as you were by his side like this.
He brings up the idea of a movie marathon and you’re on board instantly, even if it is already ten o’clock.
“I’ll go get some snacks, you pick out the movies. I was thinking old school Disney?” You offer, untangling yourself from his arms.
The harder you try to be quiet, the louder you seem to get, but maybe that’s just your conscious playing tricks on you. Reaching the kitchen feels like you’ve just completed a level and now you’re showered in gifts. Only these gifts are the endless selection of snacks.
There’s a sea of things you could choose from; sour candies, chocolate, dried cereal, popcorn and so much more! If you had the kind of money these guys have, your kitchen would damn well look like this too.
You get to work pulling out bags of chips and setting them on the counter, then some smaller handfuls of candies and chocolates, throwing in the box of Honey Nut Cheerios for Peter. That was something about him that you’d never guess yourself. When you first met Peter you had him pegged as a Fruity Pebbles kind of guy, but don’t judge a book by its cover apparently.
After you have everything laid out, the next step is getting it all back to the bedroom because admittedly, you didn’t account for the fact that you only have two arms before deciding on this many snacks.
In the midst of your problem solving someone enters the kitchen, causing your blood to run cold. It’s Bucky who walks out from behind you, the amount of snacks putting an amused smile on his face.
“Hey there.” He nods to you, snatching a bag of chips and opening them.
‘Hey there?’ That’s what he has to say?
“You’re not surprised to see a stranger in your kitchen? I could’ve been a robber.” You say, a little disappointed he’s not more shocked by your presence. You quickly take that thought back after imagining how this conversation could be going if he did think you were a threat.
“You’d go through all that trouble getting in here-” he pops a handful of chips into his mouth, “-just to steal some chips and candy?”
“Hey, you got the good stuff. I wouldn’t be surprised if someone wanted to steal them.” You shrug and walk over, taking some of his chips.
“Uh-huh. So, you here with Tony?”
His question is like a slap on the back of the head, causing you to literally start choking on your chips. Bucky quickly puts down the chip bag and starts patting your back, unsure what else to do.
“Dude, Im like, sixteen!” You whisper shout at him, still aware that there are others sleeping.
“Oh my bad. Well then why are-”
“Hey baby, wh-” Peter stops dead in his tracks when he sees the predicament you’re in.
Bucky’s eyes shift between you and Peter, realization flashing across his features and now you know you’re in trouble.
“N.. no uh, Mr. Stark doesnt, uh, doesnt know.” Peter avoids eye contact with Bucky as he stumbles through his sentence, and the smile on his face is annoyingly smug.
“Hey in our defense, Peter told you guys that he had a girlfriend, so, if anything, this is your guys’ fault for being ignorant.” Your statement was a leap of faith sort of thing, but you’re not wrong.
You turn around and, “Oh god” you mumble, shoving your face into Peter’s chest. Steve enters the kitchen sporting nothing but a t-shirt and boxers.
“Dude put some pants on!” Bucky laughs at his friend, who scurries away when he finally notices the young lady in the room.
Steve returns decent, now wearing a pair of sweats. He walks over and takes a handful of Bucky’s chips. You figure if there’s anyone to make a good impression on it’s the two men in front of you.
“Hi, Im (Y/n). Nice to meet you.” You step forward and stick a hand out to Steve, who takes it and introduces himself, but you already knew who he was.
You had intentionally left out the fact that you were Peter’s girlfriend, but of course Bucky had to throw that out there. Now Steve looks at the two of you with a raised eyebrow and the same smirk Bucky had only five minutes ago.
When the silence in the room becomes slightly awkward Peter nudges you with his elbow; a silent plea to just grab the snacks and go. You’re almost in the clear when the sound of more footsteps are heard coming down the hall.
You quickly duck behind the counter just before Tony enters the kitchen, stopping when he sees Bucky, Steve and Peter already in there. The look on their faces are painfully suspicious, but Tony knows well enough to just turn on his heel and walk right back out. He’ll just look at the video footage in the morning.
“Well, we’ll just be on our way now.” Peter states as the two of you awkwardly waddle past the two soldiers, arms filled with snacks.
“They’re so busted.” Steve states, bursting into laughter once the young couple is out of sight.
“Oh, yeah.” Bucky begins laughing as well, thinking of what Tony will say when he finds out that the spider-ling has a girlfriend.
You and Peter spend the rest of the night and a couple hours into the early morning watching some old school Disney movies, just like you said you would. And when morning came, Steve had intended on giving you guys a heads up, but when he saw you snuggled so peacefully into Peter’s side, he couldnt bring himself to wake you up.
Hopefully Tony has the same dilemma.
