This drink was brought to me by Masters Kitchen and Cocktail in Oceanside. This is not a drink for people who consider margaritas a strong drink. I enjoyed this with their pork belly and house burger. This drink dates back to 1806 so old fashion it is. The sugar cube and bitters only attempts to fight the taste of the whisky but quickly gives up and exits. If you don't like the taste of whisky or can't handle your poison the old fashioned may not be your drink. If you're like me and like to know what's in your cup you'll enjoy this. Don't skimp on the whisky reward yourself with a single melt 10+years selection. Old-Fashioned Ingredients: 1 sugar cube 3 dashes Angostura bitters club soda 2 ounces rye whisky Glass type: Old-Fashioned Instructions: Place the sugar cube (or 1/2 teaspoon loose sugar) in an Old-Fashioned glass. Wet it down with 2 or 3 dashes of Angostura bitters and a short splash of water or club soda. Crush the sugar with a wooden muddler, chopstick, strong spoon, lipstick, cartridge case, whatever. Rotate the glass so that the sugar grains and bitters give it a lining. Add a large ice cube. Pour in the rye (or bourbon). Serve with a stirring rod.
