🚨 Commission Scammers on Tumblr 🚨

Hey, everyone! Just wanted to give y’all a heads up about a new scam I’ve seen on tumblr. Please be cautious if someone messages you for a commission offering to pay well above your asking price! I had someone over the weekend do this to me, and I was somewhat hopeful it was real cuz I have bills that are dragging me under, but I felt like something was off. We went through the process of describing what they wanted, terms and conditions, etc (they didn’t want to provide their email, so I thought maybe they were just older, so we messaged through the dms) but I figured it out when they got to the payment part.

They asked for my PayPal email. You DO NOT need someone’s email to find them on PayPal—all you need is their username. What the email is needed for is so that they can send a fake PayPal email to you saying your money is waiting and that you have to upgrade or some BS like that to receive it. DO NOT CLICK ON THOSE LINKS. Only ever use PayPal directly. If there is nothing pending on your PayPal app or account, trust that.

I didn’t give them my email as I’ve been using PayPal for a while and knew they didn’t need that info, and informed them that I don’t give my PayPal email to people outside of friends I know IRL and family. After I sent that message, they immediately disappeared.

Please use caution everyone! Do not fall for scams! And if it seems too good to be true, trust your instinct because more often than not you’re right.
