Elvis Costello with Rosanne Cash at BAM - Interview and Songs - Nov 10, 2015
Accidents Wil Happen
The Horace Barlow Band (aka Elvis Costello & The Attractions) - Mountford Hall, University of Liverpool, Liverpool, UK, February 6, 1980
A fun/feisty, Get Happy-heavy set from an incognito EC and the Attractions in 1980, opening for Rockpile…
01. I Stand Accused 02. Possession 03. King Horse 04. Girls Talk 05. 5ive Gears In Reverse 06. The Imposter 07. He’ll Have To Go 08. Human Touch 09. High Fidelity 10. I Can’t Stand Up For Falling Down 11. You Belong To Me 12. Oliver’s Army
On the whole, sad is easier than cruel, as both cruel and happy are close to vain and foolish. They require qualification or totally unbridled joy (or relish in the case of cruel) as in ‘You ain’t livin’ until you’re lovin’. There is just more sadness in the world. Angry sad songs, sometimes mistakenly called ‘political’, don’t often change ugly minds, but they make those in sympathy with them feel less lonely.
Elvis Costello on lyrics (via psugar)
A SUPERCUT OF EVERY ELVIS COSTELLO PERFORMANCE ON LATE NIGHT & LATE SHOW WITH DAVID LETTERMAN BETWEEN 1982 AND 2014
Elvis Costello has been the musical guest on Letterman a whopping 26 times. It’s even more astonishing when you factor in that he only appeared twice on NBC’s Late Night (once in 1982 and again in 1989) and there have been some years between 1994 and 2014 when he didn’t make any appearances at all.
As you might imagine, these clips cover a pretty wide array of musical styles— he appears solo, with his bands The Attractions and The Imposters, with Burt Bacharach, Emmylou Harris, Anne Sofie Von Otter, gospel group The Fairfield Four, Jenny Lewis, etc. He even hosts once, when Letterman was sick. I haven’t included any of the few times he’s sat down for the interview, because I wanted to limit this supercut to just the musical performances.
oh.damn.
This are my jam.
