“Sometimes I love a guy attempting to show off. Something about it gives me the ick so hard, I actually enjoy it,” Finn replied, completely deadpan as she spoke. “You can get good wine in a lot of places, but is it discounted? Granted, does it really matter? No. But there’s something about knowing you’re getting it for not what everyone else is that makes it taste better.”

Every time the idea occurred to her, Juno always tried to tell herself it was ridiculous to think that she could have bad luck; luck wasn’t a real thing, sometimes things worked out and sometimes they didn’t, but this. It was harder than usual to say this was just one of those things, although she supposed it was also happening to everyone else at Intelligentsia. Something had happened outside apparently – a really bad car accident that turned into a really bad fight she’d heard a few people say, but it was hard to tell. All she knew for sure was that there were police at the door telling everyone to stay inside while they sorted it out, not to be alarmed, everything was fine, shouldn’t take more than twenty minutes. The problem was that she was supposed to have been at work in ten minutes. “Aaaand my phone died,” she said out loud when she lifted it to text her boss, turning to face whoever it was standing next to her. “Do you believe in bad luck? Because I’m genuinely starting to think I’m cursed.” @slchat​

Finn, not having much of a job, could’ve stayed in the coffee shop all day. But of course, as soon as there was commotion outside, and it was recommended that was exactly what she do, well, she wanted to do the opposite. So of course, there was a lot of sighing and rolling of the eyes, instantly putting her in a crabby mood (which, for Finn, was saying a lot). “Sure. Karma. Did you do something shitty and deserve it?” she suggested, not offering up her phone or the charger she had in her bag. Her not so helpful comment would have to do.

“I swear to god the name it Cliff’s Edge because it’s such a bad vibe for dates it makes you want to jump off a cliff,” Finn said with a roll of her eyes. After a pause, she shrugged up one shoulder, her head tipping to the side. “I mean, is it good wine at least, cause then I could probably be convinced to go.”

      “Oh?” Curiously leaning, with probably too much of a punch to the way he rose an eyebrow. Listening, actually hearing this translucent plebs take on french cheese, on boondock ice cream and did a full on look. Up and down taking in what it was in her that screamed ‘bend me over and make sure to watch me watch you finger my asshole’ look on the outside and the way her tongue slowly spat the dismal state’s name, and decided to fuck it. Playing up the flick of the wrist and a higher pitch to his tone now. “Mm, so you’d say tear it down too? A complete eyesore and gastrically challenging— My husband says it’s charming. I think it’s repulsive and as someone clearly geologically equipped with all things dairy, you’d agree? Or does it have that keep the ten year old’s still sucking tit family from Ohio coming in while a little Thai tug happens in the back and no one would bat an eye down the line kind of vibe? Guess I’m trying to figure out which would be cheaper…”

“Ew,” Finn said to his charming rant, the corners of her lips turning ever so slightly down in her only expression change. “Frankly, you’ve already made me put too much thought into this then I care to. Just like, start an online petition if it bothers you that much,” she suggested, her tone completely deadpan. With a blink of her eyes from the storefront back towards him, she shrugged. “I assure you, stopping people on the street and asking their opinion won’t accomplish anything. Except perhaps a call to the cops about yet another crazy person.”

Finn let out a none to subtle sigh at the beckoning. If you’re gonna summon a stranger, you could at least do it politely. She listened to his mini rant, her eyebrows inching higher and higher on her forehead before finally making a little noise of dissent, shaking her head. “Mm. Yeah, no. I don’t really eat dairy, so you really lost me somewhere in there. Unless it’s like, french cheese. Ice cream from the boondocks of New Hampshire or whatever is just not going to cut it.”

“I don’t know, maybe you don’t wanna drink anymore?” he laughed, turning towards the rainbow shots and without hesitance, taking one after the other and downing the contents effortlessly. There wasn’t much alcohol in them, even though it was vodka. It tasted toned down a lot, which was probably because they offered you eight of them. By the last one he felt a small buzz, but nothing big. It’d probably hit him in a minute, but he doubted there would be much more to it. “So yeah, that was fun,” he admitted, “but not really much of a challenge.” He smirked, turning towards her a bit. “Nathan,” he introduced himself, realizing he didn’t know her name and holding his hand out to shake hers. “What do you want to drink?”

“The night is young. I definitely still plan on drinking,” Finn said. One eyebrow raised up as she watched him down the rest of the shots, her nose crinkling as well. She was the type for straight shots, and that was about it. As soon as you started mixing in strange colors and mixers, she was out. “Honestly, I hate novelty shots. I don’t know how you just did that. So I am a little bit impressed,” she admitted, reaching her hand out to shake his as wells. “Finn. Vodka water, please. Hydrate while drinking, way better than the hangover that novelty sugary shit gives you.”

“Having standards when it comes to food isn’t really my thing–” Brandon couldn’t really afford to pick and choose things, he just had to do what he had to do. Whatever he could make for himself, or whatever he was able to buy with his low funds was good enough for him. Only now, because of his current stable life, was he able to actually splurge a little if he wanted to. But still, his discount shopping was engrained in his brain. “I sort of just eat what I can. Can’t be too picky, you know.”

Finn listened to him speak, her face crinkling up a little bit as he spoke. “I can’t say I do know, but to each their own, I guess,” she said after a beat, shrugging her shoulders. Pickiness had been one of her defining characteristics since she was a baby. Plus, she was constantly trying new diet fads - gluten free one month, vegan the next, whole 30 the following. Not for any physical or health reasons, but just cause they were trendy. Usually she ended up breaking them - self control, not one of Finn’s strengths. The waiter stopped at their table, setting the margaritas in front of them, Finn immediately sliding one towards herself. “Alright - here goes nothing,” she said with a teasing grin, popping the straw between her lips as she took a sip. She made an overly critical face, pretending to consider. “Fine. I’ll give it to you - they’re good margaritas.”

“Doesn’t everyone have an ulterior motive?” he said, putting on a mockingly philosophical air. He was playing devil’s advocate for no reason at all other than to be a nuisance, but at least for all her objections she hadn’t left yet. That was something. “I mean, what’s yours? Do you like arguing with childish strangers? Or are you in fact so interested in what my ulterior motive is that figuring it out has become…your ulterior motive?” He delivered the last part with excessive sarcasm through a cheeky grin. “Clearly you’re not talking to me because you enjoy it. God forbid.”

“Sure they do, but men’s are usually easier to figure out,” Finn countered. Oh, he wanted to play devil’s advocate? Finn could roll with that, she’d argue with anyone even if she didn’t disagree with them. It was sport. “Maybe my ulterior motive is just pointing out what people’s flaws are to them. In interest of bettering the world. Constructive criticism and all that,” she said, returning his grin with one of her own, an innocent blink of her eyes accompanying the words. “God forbid I enjoy strangers throwing things at me, you mean? Why would I ever enjoy that?”

He wasn’t after the taste, luckily, more the effect he was going to get from them, but he didn’t think it was wise to down them all right here and now, though he could. “I’ll down them all right now if you let me buy you a drink,” he told her. Not that him getting drunk was impressive or anything, and he’d probably end up doing it just for the challenge of it anyway. 

“I’m sorry but in what world would I say no to that? I get to see you attempt to drink all of these and either fail in a hilarious way - no offense - or succeed and inevitably regret it not too long from now, and I get a drink out of it?” Finn said, her eyebrows raising on her forehead. “You’ve got a deal,” she added with a smirk, lifting her current glass up in a cheers to him while glancing at the remaining shots expectantly.

location: Bliss.   time: 5:03 pm. June 4th. 

With a cup of rainbow froyo in front of her and a side cup of gummy bears, Victoria absentmindedly stared at the patrons of the establishment as they walked in and out with their own frozen dessert. God, was she going to regret ruining her appetite for dinner in favor of this later on, but for now, her food choice left her content. Victoria’s film choice on the other hand was a bad one. No one should have seen the 2019 version of Cats on the amount of weed she had smoked right before. Something that Victoria had been painfully reminded as she overheard some teenage girls discuss the prospects of viewing the film that evening. So as a means of saving someone else, she opted to make the person nearest her aware of the mistake. “I wish someone had told me so I’ll tell you, don’t go see that Cats movie.” Alright, so they did look like they could have been a little friendly with the mj themselves which was the reason she decided to notify them as opposed to the mom with three kids. “The sing-along part is even worse.” 

“It’s cause of the noses,” Finn answered, not looking up from her phone. While Finn never was the type to express interest in any sort of movie or genre or...well, anything, her parents were in the business, and as such, without ever seeming to take the time to sit down and watch anything, Finn somehow always seemed to have seen whatever movie someone could bring up. Usually before they were released. She glanced up when she didn’t get an immediate response, realizing that that statement was incredibly vague. “I mean, like, look at the make-up for the musical. They give them weird little cat noses. Movie? They left human noses. That was their mistake. That and ever offering it as a sing-along in the first place. Cats is best enjoyed without like, thinking too much about it.”

Nathan looked at the glorious row of eight rainbow shots that sat in front of him on the bar at Los Globos. He hadn’t ever ‘come out’ and didn’t really feel the need to, as it was a new thing and he didn’t feel like he owed the world an explanation, though at the same time he understood those who wanted to come out. Nathan liked girls, he liked a guy, and he didn’t really know what that meant but he was here to celebrate. “So. What’s in the rainbow shots?” he asked the bartender, who was a little distracted, so the question ended up going to the person a few seats over from him as he picked up one and looked at the red color. “Let’s find out,” he said to himself, downing the drink, dim lights in the club preventing him from really taking a good look at the person. “Mix of vodka and something else,” he mused, taking the orange one and downing it. 

“The mystery of the rainbow shots is not to be revealed,” Finn replied, watching with amusement as he downed the two shots without much hesitation, despite not having an answer to his question. “You know, you’re already two shots in - might as well finish the full rainbow at this point. By the end, maybe you’ll be able to tell what’s in them,” she suggested, a wicked grin coming across her face. She was a terrible influence, really.
