Chapter 2 of Day in June is up. it’s shorter than the first chapter but that’s because if i didn’t split up the scenes for this one and the next chapter it would’ve probably ended up as long as, if not possibly longer than the first chapter u.u; also because writing action scenes in any real capacity is difficult for me so next chapter might be a little bit clunky but hopefully not too much so

You and Hank used to be pretty close up until Cole’s death. After he spiraled down in his grief it tore the two of you apart in an almost irreparable manner. It’s been a few years since then, the android revolution has occurred and androids have been recognized as intelligent lifeforms. Now that things have settled down it should be back to the usual casework, except now for this new case you’ve been assigned a new partner. While you try to solve this string of murders, both Niles and Connor are trying to get you and Hank back in each other’s good graces. Somehow Gavin gets involved in both of these aspects and tries to also help in his own way.

Creating art, creating in general is really stressful and really scary and potentially really, really painful. For a variety of reasons.

I know a lot of you probably hear “you just need to draw everyday, you just need to make mistakes” and think that’s easier said than done. I’ve thought that, I still think that sometimes. Making mistakes can be scary, and if you view art as something near and dear to your heart, being unable to produce what you feel you’re capable of or should be capable of can really fuckin’ destroy you.

Please, please, please just be patient with yourself. Be kind to yourself. Work your way up, walk before you can run. You don’t need to draw a finished piece every day, just jot down a concept, make some lines, just move a pencil and remind yourself you want to improve and you will improve and you’ll do it at the pace that’s best for you. If you have to walk away from art for a little while, walk away from it. Leave it alone, do something else, regroup yourself. Be patient with yourself. It’s taken me four years to finally use all the information I’ve collected and genuinely look at it and fuck up with it. It’s taken me four years to actually at least look at a sketchbook daily without immediately quitting.  Ask a lot of questions, get to a point where you’re comfortable making mistakes, learn from those mistakes, and realize you can only get better and there’s not a finish line with creating. Most importantly, know that it’s okay to praise yourself and be proud of yourself, it really, really, really is. It’s uplifting and contagious and you deserve to feel proud no matter what. Please, please, please encourage your fellow creatives too.

Ugh fuck. This is me, RIGHT NOW. I want to draw, I’m DYING to draw lots and lots and lots!.. but right now everything I draw is pretty bad, or takes many hours and many mistakes.. and I’m terrified that this thing I would love to be able to do just isn’t in my reach and I’m not wired for it, and I will never be able to do it. I get jealous of people who seem to draw with absolute ease and quickness and I’m so very scared that I will have to abandon it because it makes me feel terrible and I just can’t enjoy drawing right now.

(Replying on my main blog but I’m the OP.) I keep seeing replies like this and I really, really feel everyone that feels like they’re in a rut because I am too in so many ways. Like right now I’m in a positive, creative headspace but it could end at any second and I’m not shelling out finished pieces or creating at the capacity I’m neccessarily capable of but one thing I’ve learned - and it’s been really hard to learn, tbh - is speed doesn’t mean shit.  The speed at which you create at doesn’t mean shit as long as you’re satisfied in the end and you’re going to have to create some mediocre stuff before you start feeling like you’re in the groove again. It takers time, I spent the summer drawing circles and the only reason I’m kind of getting any semblance of a “groove” is because a class is requiring me to create, create, create for a grade.

But creating stuff takes time, and those people you’re comparing yourself to? Who knows how long it honestly took them to make that stuff, or who knows how many years it took them to cultivate that “speed” that’s admired so much.  It may take awhile, but when you say “wired”, IDK, someone has to put those wires together and connect them, so to beat this anology to death, try working with your wires (at your own pace! you might wanna give up, it might take awhile, and that’s okay!) and re-wire them.

If you have to walk away from drawing for awhile, do it. One thing that’s really uplifted me in the past is I’ve seen people walk away and when they’ve come back, even if they eased into it slowly, they eventually gained momentum and fuckin’ killed it. Some fell off for a bit, but that’s life, what’s cool is often times you can get back up. I’ve had long lapses where I didn’t do shit, suddenly became really motivated  and worked at it for awhile, and then collapsed. I just got out of a collapse and I’m trying to take what I’ve learned from the past…. hundred and apply it to now and be patient with myself and accept if I fall again I’ll get up again because I want to make this work and I want to find out how to make it a constant. It’s difficult.  And like, this is just my experience, I absolutely do not want to force anything on you, but if I can, I want to encourage you and empathize with you because I know that feeling. And right now I just wanna at least let folks know it’s not forever. But if you’re in that space right now, where shit seems hopeless and art is frustrating, that’s alright. Maybe allow yourself a break and see where it leads ya.

Okay so I remembered people talking about siren!Rhys and how he would interact with tech similar to Angel but it didn't have to be Hyperion tech for Rhys and I can't find the post so I'm gonna ask the general tag if it's okay if I write a fic with this? I can give credit for the idea where credit is due, I just can't find the person and I don't remember who it was :c But yeah...it would be my first time writing for this ship so there's that ^^;;

My final project for Visual and Digital Fundamentals class. I chose to remake a movie poster and chose to do Treasure Planet. Not the greatest thing ever but I think it turned out alright for the most part
