Personality: Jack is a stubborn man, but loyal almost to a fault to those he does care about. A part of him as always been a showman, growing up in the limelight did that. He is a flirt, enjoys making people smile. Most relationships are just sex, and the ones that are more? He is fiercely loyal to his partner. Despite his confident and flirtatious nature, he is a broken man. So many years alive, watching so many people he knows die, it has broken him. Dying over and over again. It has numbed him to death. Though not the pain of it. He's worried that should people see the darker side he'll be left behind.
About: Jack was born to Charlotte and Henry on the planet that was a colony of Earth's. Specifically he was born on the Boeshane Peninsula. His father was a military man, head of the guard for the town, and Jack was always in the spotlight. He was a decent student, though not as much as some people. When his younger brother was born, Jack was fiercely protective of Gray. The two did everything together, did not matter what, they were together. Then the aliens came, worse than anything ever seen before, invaded the Peninsula. Jack's father told him to take Gray and run. The brothers did, but at some point in the chaos Jack lost hold of Gray's hand, and they were separated. Jack thought that Gray was still behind him, and did not know they were separated until after. When he went back to his house to look for them, he found his father dead, and his mother devastated it was the worst day of his life. The second day would come when he and a friend of his went up against an enemy, and the pair were captured. His friend was tortured, and Jack was let go to bare the weight of his guilt.
Not long before the invasion Jack had been accepted into the Time Agency, to start training at their academy. It was a huge success, he was the first from their planet to be accepted their and it earned him the nickname 'The Face of Boe.' While there he met another agent, a man named John Hart, who he had a relationship with while being trapped in a time-loop. Jack was a good Time Agent, but left the Agency when he discovered that they had erased two years of his memories, and he wanted it back. He became a conman, using his knowledge and wits to manipulate people and get money. When World War Two took place, Jack took the name of an American volunteer killed in action named Jack Harkness. He knew nothing about him, but he needed a name.
As a part of another scheme he crashed a Chula ambulance in London, figured he could use it in some way to make money. It was during that time that he met Rose Tyler and the Doctor. He had no idea that the ambulance had done such damage, and the nanogenes inside it had corrupted a child's genes making him into a monster. He helped stop it, stopping the bomb that would have blown it up, with every intent of saving people without regard to his own life. Though he was saved by the Doctor and became one of his companions.
His time with the Doctor was short however. In an effort to save the world, he was fighting along side the others in Satellite Five, and he was killed by a Dalek. He did not stay dead long, and was brought back to life by Rose Tyler. The issue was, however, in her doing so, she couldn't control it and it became permanent. He could never die. He became a fixed point in time. And for that, he was left behind.
Jack, who knew that Cardiff was a good refueling station for the TARDIS based upon the proximity to the Rift, tried to get back to the 21st century with his Vortex Manipulator. It didn't work. It sent him back to the 19th century and burned out. He was stranded there. The second time that he died was in 1892 on Ellis Island, when he was shot, and came back moments later.
Jack's first encounter with Torchwood did not go well. Alice Guppy and Emily Holroyd captured him and tortured him to find out why he could not die and what his connection to the Doctor was in 1899. They only agreed to let him go after he answered their questions if he undertook a mission for them. When they killed the target, Jack left, disgusted. But he soon returned to Torchwood, after being told that the Doctor would return to Cardiff in a century's time. With nothing else to do, he began to work for them.
Throughout his time on Earth, Jack had flings with different people both men and women alike. Including Angelo, who would later end up killing him, and causing him to be changed up, though ultimately Angelo helped him to escape. The head of Torchwood India was another young woman. Several other Torchwood Agents as well. There was only one he had a child with. The woman, named Lucia Moretti, had a daughter named Melissa, fathered by Jack. The daughter aged normally, and Jack and Lucia split up at her request. His daughter was sent into Witness Protection program and given the name of Alice Sangster.
He could never fully distance himself from some people though. He watched Rose Tyler grow up, though never talked to her. But nothing would ever go smoothly for Jack.
When he finally became a full-time agent of Torchwood another traumatic experience happened. A fellow agent, Alex Hopkins, had a break down and killed the entire Torchwood Three staff, waiting until Jack had returned to commit suicide. As the only surviving member of Torchwood Three, he started to recruit new members.
The first three people he recruited were Toshiko Sato, Dr. Owen Harper, and Suzie Costello. Though with Torchwood Four being gone, and the destruction of Torchwood One, Jack was able to run Torchwood more along the ideals of what he believed the Doctor represented. In 2007, Ianto Jones, the only survivor of Torchwood One, joined the team after much persuasion on Ianto's part.
At some point, Jack obtained a hand that belonged to the Tenth Doctor, which he would keep in a jar. His mind was still set on reconnecting with him, something that would happen in time.
Gwen Cooper was the last member to join the Torchwood Team. She became the only member on the team to learn of Jack's immortality after Suzie shot him. Suzie had been committing murders, and had shot Jack to try and escape, but he came back. Then Suzie shot herself. Gwen was there.
Another emotional turning point for Jack was the discovery that Ianto Jones had brought a Cyberman into the Hub, putting the entire team in danger. He nearly could have, the incident reminded him of when another agent had killed everyone. But they had no choice but to kill Lisa when she took control of a human. However, Ianto would become the one person Jack became closest too at Torchwood. The two started a relationship, one that would continue until the day Ianto would die.
Jack met his namesake when the Rift sent him back in time to 1941, the night before the original Captain Harkness was to die. It was an emotional time, Jack had never known the man whose name he took. A part of Jack wished he could save the man, but he couldn't. Jack left after a passionate kiss with the other man.
After a century of waiting, Jack was reunited with the Doctor. He ran after the TARDIS and clung to it as it traveled through time to the end of the world. It was there that he learned of what happened to Rose, and though he was thrilled that she did not die, he learned the truth. It was Rose's fault that he was alive, an act so human on her part, that had turned him immortal. Though as time at the end of the world went on, it would led to a series of horrible events. It would be the start of a horrific part of Jack's life. The events that happened at the end of the world brought back another Time Lord, the Master, who, upon their return to Earth, had taken control. Jack was captured and tortured for a year. He could not die, and the abuse went on. Though when it was all over, the Doctor offered him the chance to return to the TARDIS. Jack turned him down to return to Torchwood.
