i am not at all caught up with fantasy high freshman and sophomore year but i’ve jumped into the middle of things and this today nearly made me bawl

"We knew it would be this way" is honestly fucking me up so much more than "Bring them to me"??? I absolutely adore all these characters and respect the hell out of these incredible artists, caveat from the top, but as a particularly unwhimsical person myself, I sympathize with Suvi so much all the time! Suvi has been forced to side with Ame and Eursulon in direct conflict with Steel; her commitment to her friends always involves sacrifice! Witches and spirits just get to sort of be ~like that~ , they get to operate with minimal scrutiny from pure id, while the artifice and technology of the wizards are inherently suspect?

But trying to imagine being Suvi and having your de facto mom asking you to just wait for half a second before charging off in the middle of a war, then your best friend implicitly threatening to magic nuke you to witch hell for daring to ask her to, and then your adopted brother looking you in the face and saying "of course this impetuousness is the only right thing, of course you trusted a witch and a wild one, you were always only ever going to be hurt by it; we were always going to choose each other and leave you, BYE IDIOT" She's already lost her first family, put strain on hers with Steel for the sake of the party, who knows what's happened to Silver, and then just watched the family as her party inherently and intentionally reject her without pause! GIVE MY GIRL A BREAK FOR THE LOVE OF GOD

(Obvi all our delightful storytellers are intentionally playing with all this; it's complexity that the necessary story beats are coming from, I truly adore all characters players and DMs involved, I'm saying the situation is knowingly complicated and I love everyone for all of it, love how good it hurts but DOGGONE DOES IT HURT)

Just want to come out and say I am here for Suvi and Silver.

There is a sweetness to them thats only found in first loves & there’s something so nice about that. So simple. He’s a nice boy , and sometimes it’s ok for things to just be nice for awhile. Especially since I get the feeling that things won’t stay nice , because that’s not really the nature of stories.

But in the here and now, Silver is nice & I hope he makes it home.

Also, I don’t necessarily need them to wind up together, it would just be nice for this sweet first love to always be a warm pleasant memory instead of another moment of tragedy in Suvi’s past.

my boi did nothing to deserve this, he’s a sensitive, understanding, smart hot wizard and you guys are already kicking his butt to the curb in favour of glass heart. He wasn’t mad at Suvi when he thought she was hooking up with Ame he was just scared he cared about her so much more than he was willing to admit. My boi is a golden retriever and you guys are talking about him like he’s already dead. Disappointed in this community smh.
