Hello!!! :D I will literally take any excuse to write about Sova, so it was a pleasure to bring this to life. This man deserves a big hug, don’t you think?

Fade Out (Sova x Reader)

Prompt: Your stoic front cracks when Sova gets injured on a mission.

Word Count: 808

• Sova often reminded you of the Greek Titan Atlas - forever carrying the world on his shoulders.

• Despite his caring and positive demeanor, there was no mistaking that he was by far and away the hardest working person you knew.

• He would brush off your concerns with an effervescent smile and a cheerful greeting, but you knew it came at the expense of his own well-being.

• You hated that everyone seemed to assume he was fine all the time when he clearly wasn’t.

• Because most didn’t seem to be aware of the mental and physical tolls missions were taking on him, you found yourself not caring much about them in return. Why should you?

• Though you did feel less of an indifference toward Viper of all agents, perhaps because she understood.

• “He’s one man, and he’s exhausted.”

• But even in moments of extreme weakness, Sova never fails to comfort you when he really should be putting himself first.

• You just mean that much to him.

After a certain point, working in the Protocol made the occurrence of death feel concerningly normal. It was all the same, wasn’t it? An injury incurred or a life lost, only for it to be restored a short while later. 

It didn’t matter whether you lived on Earth-1 or Earth-2; everyone seemed to be stuck in their own little loops, engaged in taxing battles, doomed to repeat the same thing all over again the next day.

Sometimes you needed a reminder of why you were doing this, though you weren’t prepared for it to be an ugly one.

Four down, one to go... 

You crept quietly around the base of the perimeter, your Spectre at the ready. The last opponent was proving hard to eliminate. 

You heard a single shot nearby. Making your way toward the source of the sound, you peered around the corner to see your teammate Breach laying still on the ground. You quickly scanned the area before approaching, kneeling down to feel his pulse. It was weak, but it was there. You sighed irritably, taking ahold of your comm with one hand. 

“Requesting aid for Breach.” You dropped your location a second later. 

“Roger,” came Sage’s serene voice. “I’m on my way. Stay with him-”

“No,” you interrupted curtly, already rising to your feet. “We still have a mission to do and me staying with him isn’t going to change anything.”

You tuned out her protests, on the move again with grim determination. It wasn’t long before you came across Sova, approaching from the opposite corner. Instinctually, you both raised your guns at one another before realizing you were on the same side.

“Any sign of them?” He murmured as you met in the middle.

“Negative.” You shook your head.

“Perhaps two heads are better than one, here. If you watch my flank, I can deploy-”

Bang!

He never got to finish his sentence. This gunshot rang much louder than the last. Your eyes widened as the hunter was thrown off his feet and propelled forward with a gasp, blood spurting from his mouth. Pulling him to your chest, you caught him with one arm, swinging your weapon up and flicking the perpetrator with the other. 

You didn’t even care who they were, so long as they were dead. When it was clear they were, you called it in, requested healing and turned your attention back to the injured man leaning on you.

“Sova...” You sunk to the ground holding him, your heart thundering in your ears as the skin of the person you cared most about turned ashen in a matter of moments. You guided his head into your lap. With trembling hands, you brushed his hair back from his face, unable to think clearly as the ground around him stained a deep red.

You pulled back briefly and yanked off your jacket, applying pressure to the Russian’s wound. His eyes never left you, and not once did he flinch under your touch. “You’re safe, so rest a little. I’m here and you’re going to be okay.” You kept looking frantically around. What was taking the help so long?

He mustered his remaining energy into covering your hands with his. He smiled weakly.

“I'm not tired. Are you?” You knew he was just trying to comfort you, as his eyelids were getting droopier by the second. You couldn’t help but give an exasperated smile at his efforts.

As Sage and Brimstone jogged around the corner, you hugged the blonde a little closer one last time before reluctantly letting him go, an action that didn’t go unnoticed by either of the agents. They exchanged a knowing look.

If any agent could shed light on your humanity, it was Sova.

Alright, I feel like Neon would be both competitive and supportive at the same time

I mean like, she has an internal scoring system and she’s always trying to answer more questions than you, whether it’s on quizzes, open questions during classes or just sharing facts when you’re chatting in the hallways, feeling awesome when you look at her dumbfounded at all the things she knows, because that’s how she knows that she won

But if she perceives that you’re falling behind, or that your score is significantly lower than hers in a particular subject, she’ll get worried and will immediately offer (force) you to study together

It doesn’t matter if neither of you aren’t the smartest in each class, because other people are irrelevant in her mind. You are her girlfriend, after all <3

Also, I 100% believe she’d make you wear bracelets with each other's name on them or those cheesy necklaces with the other’s initial

During P.E. she’s simply unstoppable. Even the boys admire her speed and abilities

If anyone dares to make fun of you for not being as good as her in sports, she’ll beat the living hell out of them. ONCE. then, everyone will learn to respect both of you because everyone has different abilities/capacities and it’s absolutely ok to be bad at sports

In the absolutely amazing case that you’re good at sports, then you’ll be the power couple of the entire school

But if you’re not as good, she’ll carry you and make sure you’re having fun and forget about the fact that you’re breathing like you just swam across the pacific ocean without stopping and then climbed the everest mount and then- you get my point

She’ll teach you little tricks about the sports you’re playing

whether it’s basketball, football, volleyball, or just dodgeball, she’ll know how to play, the rules, formations, and she’ll be the best player at it

When it’s time to pick teams, she’ll usually be the captain and you’ll be her first choice as a teammate.

Listen, Neon can sometimes be immature, competitive, cheeky and annoying during other classes, but P.E is her favorite subject and she wants so share her joy with her queen<3

If by any chance you two end up being in separate teams, she’ll be dissapointed, but the feeling will quickly vanish when she realizes that she can let her competitiveness out once again, as, once again, she only cares about you<3

Her team will always win.

But that gives her an excuse to receive a congratulatory kiss from you and for her to give you a “better luck next time” kiss<3

When walking in the hallways, Neon will always make sure that your hands are locked, especially when there’s a lot of people, so she can walk ahead of you and help you navigate towards your next class

Matching socks >>>>>> like, you’ll either be wearing socks with the same designs/colors or she’ll give you her right sock in exchange for your right sock. It won’t matter to her that they’re completely different

OR matching hair ties for p.e., yk like those with balls that came in pairs? you buy 2 pairs of each of them so that both you and Neon always use the same ones, regardless if Neon has her two pigtails or a single ponytail (can you imagine that? omg)

At the end of the day, you’d find yourself walking towards your home, with your cute gf’s hand in yours, sharing a pair of headphones (or airpods, if you like those), feeling the absolute bliss of singing, humming and walking to the rhythm of your favorite songs with your favorite person in the world <3
