Brimstone: The first pokemon he ever saw was Pikachu, and he loves it to this day.
Breach: He says he doesn't have one, but it's definitely Pancham
Astra: Lunatone ❤️
Omen: Duskull. Sorry not sorry.
Sova: If you think it's anything other than Decidueye, you're nuts
Chamber: Ninetales. He thinks it's classy.
Kay-O: KlingKlang
Jett: If you asked her, she'd say something like Talonflame or Charizard, but secretly it's Togepi.
Killjoy: I can't explain why, but I just know she's obsessed with Tododile
Neon: Emolga
Raze: Sharpedo. No I will not take constructive criticism.
Yoru: He won't admit it, but he goes nuts when he sees Cranidos.
Phoenix: He LOVES Litten.
Viper: I really feel like it's Venosaur
Reyna: Obstagoon. She considers it the only "dog" she'd ever have.
Sage: Chansey.
Skye: Miltank, but not just any Miltank. Whitney's Miltank.
Cypher: Corviknight. If you don't know who this pokemon is, look it up and tell me I'm wrong.
I love all of your works and am I huge Cypher lover and would love to see a protective/jealous Cypher x Reader!
My first time actually writing a Cypher x Reader on request, so I hope it's okay!!! Also, this is unedited, so apologies if there are any typos!
Cypher is a man who has seen his fair share of heartbreak and carnage.
Because of this, he's extremely protective over those he holds dear, even if the relationship hasn't been discussed or officially established.
So when one day, you're out at a bar near the Protocol compound with the Moroccan surveillance expert, the events that unfold don't exactly come as a shock.
The pair of you walk into the nearest bar to the Valorant compound. It's a place that isn't exactly classy with its musty odor and walls yellowed by a combination of nicotine and time. Normally it's a place you wouldn't be caught dead in. However, the next nearest bar, club, or anything even remotely fun is another 50 miles away and you simply don't have time for that.
Hell, you're lucky you have the few hours you managed to snag as it is.
Not to mention, the bar isn't all bad. You've made friends with the bartender over time and if you ask nicely, he'll usually let you change the music to something with a little more bump to it.
As you walk in, though, you notice Cypher tense next to your shoulder. You can't tell for sure with his face hidden behind his mask, but you think he's observing the room, a habit you've noticed from him time and time again.
You give him a gentle pat on the arm and say, "Come on. It's just a few hours. What could possibly go wrong?" You would have patted his shoulder, but he stands much taller than you do.
In response, he says simply, "More than you think."
You smirk at him, ever amused by his regularly cryptic comments. "Well, stand here all you like. I'm going to go get a drink."
Without waiting for an answer, you saunter off toward the bartender, flashing him a bright pair of excited eyes as he pulls out his phone to allow you to change the music.
An hour or so in and you're not quite drunk but you're definitely a little tipsy. The bartender has been slipping you free shots here and there, much to Cypher's disdain. As a man who keeps his wits about him, he's bewildered by your ability to cast aside your intuitions for a night of fun.
As you chat up the bartender about his favorite songs and the best local hangouts, however, you notice the man who has been seated beside you silently becoming increasingly fidgety.
"Cypher," You lower your voice as your drunken smile falters ever so slightly. "Are you okay?"
You've become so used to reading his emotions even through his mask by now that you can tell his jaw has tightened by the way the material flexes on his face.
"I am just worried for your safety, that is all." You can tell he's doing his best to make it seem like nothing, but you also know better.
"Okay, okay!" You throw your hands up and laugh lightly, giving in to what you know he wants. "I'm finished drinking. I'm gonna go to the bathroom and we can leave as soon as I get back, kay?"
The material on his face flexes again, becomes looser. He's smiling under there. "Thank you."
You flash him a gentle grin and stand, stumbling a bit as your feet find the floor. Hands hook themselves under your arms, steadying you.
"Easy there," Cypher says, a hint of amusement in his tone.
"I'm alright," You affirm before wandering off to find the restrooms.
A few moments later, you walk back out onto the main floor of the bar, casting your eyes around to look for Cypher. You aren't sure if it's the alcohol or the sudden crowd that seems to have poured in while you were gone, but you can't quite locate him.
"Hey there, hot stuff." A man with a scruffy beard and a beer in hand is in front of you suddenly, placing a hand on your shoulder. "Looking for somebody?"
Your brow furrows at the contact. More of the booze you've drunk tonight hit your system while you were in the bathroom and now you're having a little trouble thinking. "Yeah, I'm looking for my friend. I can't seem to find him though."
The man in front of you grins, his teeth stained yellow and breath reeking of cigarettes. "Well, that's no problem. I can be your new friend. How about it?"
Even through the drunken haze, you can tell this conversation is going nowhere good. A pang of fear is beginning to knot up your stomach. "Yeah, I don't think so. Cy-!"
You begin to yell for Cypher, afraid of what might happen if the man in front of you gets angry at your response. Before you can, however, he puts a finger up to your lips to hush you. "Shhh." He says, "No need to shout. Let's just take a second and get to know each other. That's what bars are for, right?"
Now you're really uncomfortable. Your skin is crawling, and all you want is for the interaction to come to an end. Unfortunately, the man in front of you doesn't look like he has any plans to concede.
"Look," you say, "I really need to go."
The man scoffs angrily, taking a swig of his beer. "Yeah? Well, I'm not going anywhere until you give your number."
Your face burns at his gall, and you open your mouth to fire off a haughty retort. Before you can, however, a black-gloved hand clamps tightly onto the man's shoulder.
"I believe the lady said she'd like to be left alone." Cypher's voice washed over you, and even though his tone was laced with ice and venom, it washed over you like a warm summer breeze.
"Yeah?" The man said as he swung around to face whoever dared to confront him. "Who's going to make-"
He stopped as he finally laid eyes on your partner. While not the most threatening person at the Protocol (that was a merit reserved for Reyna), Cypher was a tall man with toned muscles that were easily visible through the white, turtleneck coat he currently had on. Combine that with a mask that revealed only a pair of piercing blue eyes, and it was a sight that made the much smaller man freeze in his tracks.
"Look man, I don't want to start anything. I just wanted—"
"I don't care." The slight R roll in Cypher's voice made it sound almost like a purr to your drunken ears, and you had to hold back a laugh as the man who had seemed so threatening a moment ago now quaked in his cowboy boots.
The man tensed angrily but nodded, lowering his head as he slinked away. Once he was gone, Cypher turned his attention toward you.
"Are you okay? Are you hurt? Did he put his hands on you?" The questions rolled quickly from his tongue as he grabbed your face with a gentle hand, turning it from side to side and then checking the rest of you for you didn't even know what.
"Cypher," you giggled, "I'm okay. You really don't have to be so protective over me."
"Oh," He retorts back, taking your hand tightly in his as he leads you toward the exit, "I most certainly do."
❂ Slowest Burn: Part 3❂ Chamber X OC
“Do you think we’ll all make it back?”
Flare and Chamber have a discussion about the upcoming mission and agree something doesn’t seem quite right.
Word Count: 2000+
After the briefing adjourned, Flare followed Chamber back to the dorms. She listened to the Frenchman chatter as they walked, a foreign word slipping through every now and again.
“—and then Yoru took the… em, what do you call it in English… le napperon- ah, the tablemat! Anyway, he took the tablemat and pretended to wear it as a cape so he would look like Sova! He did the most wonderful impression—”
The story faded into the background of her mind as Chamber continued to chatter. The uneasy feeling from earlier had returned and taken root in the pit of her stomach. There was something off about this mission compared to the others, and the fact that she couldn’t put her finger on what exactly it was only made things worse. She had a very bad feeling about it.
“Mon ami?” Chamber’s voice broke through the fog of doubt clouding her mind and she looked up. The sign for the dorms hung from the top of the vaulted ceiling, swaying gently as Viper opened the courtyard door just to the left of it to go outside. “Have you been listening at all?”
“Yeah,” she replied hastily, not wanting to let on that she hadn’t really heard anything he’d said for the entire 15-minute walk. “Well, mostly. Somewhat. I—”
“Mon ami,” he chuckled at her response, “You do not have to lie. I know I can be a bit boring to listen to—”
“Oh, that’s not it at all! I—”
“—But you do seem distracted by something. Would you care to share what it is?”
She hesitated, unsure of how to explain the thoughts rattling around in her head. They didn’t make sense to her, so they definitely wouldn’t make sense to him. “I’m not sure. It’s just a feeling I have, really…”
“Well, I am listening. I would hate to know you have troubles in need of sharing but no one to share them with. Would you like to go to a cafe and talk?” Chamber asked, his tone adamant but not so pushy that she would feel uncomfortable declining.
That was one of the things she admired about him, actually. He had this uncanny ability to know exactly where one’s boundaries lay, and he knew exactly how far to push without overstepping them. It wasn’t a surprise he was a confidant for most all of the agents there.
“Well, it’s about our briefing, actually.”
“Ah, I see. So no public spaces allowed, then.”
“Right.”
“In that case,” he tapped an inquisitive finger on his chin, “we can go back to my dorm and I can make you some authentic French pressed coffee? Made by a real Frenchman, what do you say?”
She had to say, having the opportunity present itself to rid her mind of the strangling doubts before they left for exfil the next morning sounded incredibly appealing. After all, even a moment of hesitation in the field could mean the difference between life and death.
“Yeah, okay. That sounds nice. Thanks, Chamber.”
“Ah, but the pleasure is all mine, mademoiselle.”
A few moments later, they reached the door of Chamber’s room. She had to say, the one thing the Protocol did that made life in the compound that much easier to navigate was putting nameplates on the doors of each agent so that they could find each other easily if need be. What was even better is that each plate was representative of the inhabitant, a custom design that suited them to a T.
In her case, the plate was emblazoned with stunning pearlescent letters on a white background and trimmed with delicate gold designs. She quite loved the way it reflected the shimmering glow her abilities put off.
In Chamber’s case, however, the plate was a much darker gold with purples, blues, and oranges that faded into each other and was bordered in a deep black etching. Then, at each corner of the plate’s rectangle, the metal morphed into a gold fleur de lis. It was all so very ‘Chamber.’
“Here we are,” he hummed as he punched a number into the door’s keypad.
The door beeped an affirmation and a robotic voice called out, “Welcome, Agent 2245 Chamber,” and swung open on silent hinges.
“Come in and make yourself comfortable, mon ami. I’ll start the coffee.”
As Flare walked in, she found that what she could see of the room was an odd intersection between exactly what she expected and beyond what she could have imagined. The man had incredible taste, and his dwelling reflected it.
That was something else that had caught her by surprise when she first arrived here. The so-called dorms were not the tiny cinder block prisons she imagined they would be. Instead, they were built on the scale of a single bedroom home, each one sporting an entire living room, kitchen, balcony, laundry room, etc. And because the Protocol was so selective and the application process was so extensive, each room was tailor-made to make its inhabitant feel right at home. She still remembered the shock she had felt when the Protocol asked her what sort of furniture she wanted.
“What furniture?” She had asked, incredulous.
“Within reason, of course.” Her superior had affirmed. “Each agent gets a $35,000 budget to decorate their room as they please.”
If she had been sipping a drink when she heard that, she would have spit it everywhere.
Regardless, she had chosen a design that best reflected who she was and gave the interior decorators most of the freedom. “Wood floors and a fireplace in the living room. Other than that, the rest is up to you.”
And boy had they done their research. They had to have looked into her preferences at some point, actually. How else would they have known to choose modern styles and an entire reading nook?
With Chamber, however, she found it much more likely that he had been the opposite—very particular about his style and very adamant that everything be up to his standards. He certainly struck her as that sort of gentleman.
His living room was the epitome of vintage French glam, with white and gold furniture and plenty of glass. The statement piece of the room, however, was the solid white grand piano that rested in the corner. And judging by the fact that there was not a speck of dust on it, she guessed it was an item well-loved.
She settled into the soft and quite austere couch without issue, taking in the sweet, nutty scent of a well-brewed specialty coffee. The smell was soothing, and reminded her of the fragrance she caught whiffs of every time she passed the Frenchman in the hallways.
He must have coffee quite often.
“All finished, ma cherie!” Chamber walked back into the room with a coffee service tray in hand. Atop it, two glass mugs rested on saucers alongside a small milk pitcher and sugar bowl. He made his way over swiftly and with the utmost grace, setting the service down on his coffee table and settling onto the side of the couch opposite her. Close enough to comfort if needed, but so not close that it might be misconstrued.
How very Chamber. She smiled to herself as she poured the milk into the coffee and stirred it with a tiny spoon. Once she finally looked up, she noticed him staring at her with a bemused smile.
“You seem to be smiling to yourself,” He noted, sipping from his cup. “Penny for your thoughts?”
“Oh, nothing important,” she replied, “You’re just a very interesting person.”
“Interesting? But mon ami, just a moment ago you thought I was quite boring.”
“You were the one that said that, not me!” She laughed.
He chuckled in response but said nothing. It was an action that she had learned was meant to open the space for a new topic of conversation, his way of inviting her to speak what was on her mind.
She took another sip of her coffee, relishing in the silence as she gathered her thoughts. “There’s something about tomorrow’s mission that doesn’t sit right with me.” She said finally.
Chamber cocked an inquisitive eyebrow, the smile fading ever so slightly from his face. “Like what?”
She heaved a sigh in response, not quite sure how to answer. “Honestly, I don’t know for sure. I’ve read up on the Fracture Reactor quite a bit, the engineering behind the fault and whatnot. It’s highly unstable, and even a small explosion would kill us all. And they want us to go in there, guns blazing? It just doesn’t seem like a smart move.”
“And then,” she continued, “there’s the fact that they opted to sit Brimstone out on this mission. If it was so important that we succeed, why would they employ a man who’s only led a few teams in the past?” She stopped rambling, realizing at once how that must have sounded. “Not that I think you’re incompetent or anything!” She added quickly. “Just the circumstances don’t quite make sense compared to how the Protocol usually runs things.”
Chamber sighed, replacing his coffee cup on its saucer. HIs previously jovial mood was nowhere to be seen, and she briefly wondered if she had offended him.
“I don’t blame you at all, mon ami.” He said after a moment. “I know I am not the most experienced leader the organization has, and certainly not more so than Agent Brimstone. I would be lying if I said the same doubts hadn’t crossed my own mind.”
As he spoke, he brushed a hand through his hair, prompting a few stray wisps to fall down in front of his eyes. He was uneasy, she could see that now. He was just much better at hiding it than herself.
“So…what do we do?”
Chamber steepled his hands in response, resting his chin atop them. “Well, all we can do is keep our guard up and try not to make any mistakes. Whatever they may or may not be hiding, I have faith that we can handle it.”
Another moment of heavy silence settled between them. The words Chamber had offered to her had done a lot to quell the swirling doubts in her mind, but they were still there nonetheless. Deeply rooted and slowly growing, like a toxic plant that refused to die.
“Chamber…” she said after a moment, stomach knotting at the question she was about to ask. “May I ask you something?”
His eyebrows piqued at her hesitation, and he reached out, taking both of her hands in his. “Of course, Flare. Ask me anything.”
“Do you…” The words caught in her throat, some impassable barrier keeping them from coming out. She swallowed, then tried again. “Do you think we’ll all make it back?”
She wasn’t sure what she had expected in answer, but it certainly wasn’t the sorrowful gaze that clouded his features. It was gone as quickly as it came, a ghost of an expression, but she knew she had seen it.
He gave her hands a gentle squeeze, looking at her with the softest smile he could muster. “Of course, ma cherie. I will make sure of it.”
She nodded hesitantly in response, flashing him a smile of her own. “Thank you.”
“Anytime.”
He released her hands and she stood, picking her yellow manila folder up from the table. He mirrored her, and she said, “I should probably get going. I’m sure it’s going to take a while to go over this brief.” She held it up, flashing a smile.
The tall Frenchman in front of her smiled back, but concealed just behind his eyes was another emotion. Understanding, with a touch of pain. He stepped forward, wrapping his arms around her without warning.
“Forgive me if this is too forward, but you seemed like you could use it.” The man whispered, the vibrato from his voice resonating in her ears as he rested his chin atop her head. He then pulled away without warning, moving his hands so that one rested on each shoulder, and stooped slightly so they were eye to eye. “Please do not worry, cheri. I promise I will make sure everyone gets back safely, and I do not make promises lightly.”
She wasn’t sure what it was about those words over the others he had given, but they settled over her fear like a blanket, and a wave of relief washed over her. She trusted him and his adamant determination, even if the promise he made was slightly out of his power to keep.
“I know, Chamber. I trust you.”
He backed away, giving a curt bow. “In that case, mon ami, make it a point to have a nice night. I will see you in the morning, bright and early.”
With that, the Frenchman walked her to the door, waving a friendly goodbye as she made her way back down the hallway to her own dorm.
Hcs for the agents whenever the reader accidentally twists or strains a muscle?
Ahhh, this is so cute! I hope you don't mind, but I went with an ankle sprain to keep things simple. I hope you enjoy!
How Would They React When You Sprain an Ankle? 💠Valorant Editon💠
Brimstone: He's been with the Protocol for a while and has seen his fair share of injuries. So the moment you fall to the ground and he sees the way your ankle has swelled, he knows exactly what's wrong. "Come on," he says, picking you up bridal style and carrying a very surprised you back into the Protocol Compound, "Let's go find Sage."
Astra: Astra finds it adorable that you managed to sprain your ankle on a mere hole in the ground. From her, you'll see a lot of conflicting emotion that ranges from amusement to concern as she examines your ankle and calls for a healer.
Breach: If Brimstone is like a grumpy father figure, Breach is the grumpy uncle. He'll carry you inside the exact same way as Brimstone would, but he'll definitely laugh at how clumsy you are first.
Chamber: As a sniper, Chamber's eyes are incredibly sharp. Because of this, he can tell just by the way your legs buckle that you've seriously hurt yourself. He's behind you before you can even hit the ground, arms hooked under yours and holding you up. "Cherie," he says with a slight whine in his voice as he hooks an arm under your legs to lift you into his arms, "You must be more careful. Come, let's go find Sage."
Cypher: The only person that rivals Chamber's powers of observation is Cypher. However, contrary to the Frenchman, Cypher is a man built for stealth and speed, not strength. He'll see you falling and know you're hurt all in an instant. When he tries to catch you, however, he lets out an alarmed yelp as he realizes he can't quite stop the pair of you from hitting the ground. So instead, he positions himself to break your fall and you land in his arms. "Are you okay?" He asks frantically, "Let me call for Sage!" Rather than actually take out his cellphone, however, the flustered Morrocan just starts shouting for a healer.
Kay-O: As you hit the ground, Kay-O is by your side immediately. "Are you injured?" He asks. "Allow me to request emergency services."
"Kay-O!" You shout, having to push down the urge to laugh so he'll understand you're serious, "Don't you dare call 9-1-1! Just go get Sage or Skye!" And so, he picks you up into his arms and brings you directly to the medbay.
Jett: When you sprain your ankle, Jett is too busy laughing at the fact that you fell over to realize you're hurt. After a moment, however, her giggles die down and she sees the pained expression on your face and suddenly her expression shifts. "Wait, are you okay? You seem like you're in a lot of pain. Let me go get Sage." And with that, she dashes away quickly, returning within moments with a very confused Sage in her arms.
Killjoy: Killjoy is not a very emotionally attached individual. Even so, however, when you trip over one of her bots in the lab and sprain your ankle, she gets angry. Not at you, of course, it was an accident. But once you're healed, expect the bot who hurt you to undergo some serious torture.
Neon: Despite her gruff attitude, Neon is what we call a fretter. When you sprain your ankle racing with her, she slides to a halt immediately and runs back to you at full speed. "What happened?" She asks, bending down as she rolls up your pant leg to see the damage. She winces at the fierce purples and blue decorating your skin. "Oh no, that looks bad," she says, looking at you in alarm, "What do I do? What do we do?" She then starts shouting for Sage, despite the healer being nowhere around.
"Your phone!" You have to shout over her panicked screaming while fighting the giggles that threaten to overwhelm you. "Just call her cell!"
Omen: Omen doesn't even have to ask what's wrong. All he has to know is that you fell and your face clearly broadcasts that you're in pain. He wastes no time in picking you up to carry you all the way back to the Protocol while keeping a very close eye on both how you're feeling and the state of your injury.
Phoenix: Phoenix doesn't do well in emergency situations. Even so, when he sees that you've fallen, he rushes to your side immediately to check you out. "What's up?" He asks, seeing the pained expression you wear. "Did you hurt something?" You nod and point to your ankle, and when he sees how swollen it is, you can see the panic obscure his features. "That looks so bad, what do we do? What if it's broken? What if you'll never walk again?" You're too busy laughing at his panic to feel the pain at that point.
Raze: Let's be honest, it's probably her fault you tripped and sprained your ankle. Even so, she's very attentive to it in her own little way (after she makes fun of you for being so darn breakable). It doesn't escape you how much she frets over your safety for the entire next week.
Reyna: Reyna pretends to hold disdain for you having been so easy to injure. Even so, when she sees the state of your ankle, she hoists you over her shoulder and carries you fireman-style back to the compound.
Sage: Sage is by your side immediately, one hand on either side of the injury as she wastes no time in healing you up. As she does, she let's you know that the injury is not your fault and that she's proud of you for doing such a good job. When she's done and you're all healed up, she hands you a peppermint from the stash she keeps in her pocket to make you feel better.
Skye: Similar to Sage, Skye wastes no time in healing you. As she does, however, she takes a bit more of a tough-love approach. "You've gotten drink more milk," she says, "Gotta toughen up them bones. Maybe some time working the farm would do some good to get you back into fighting shape."
Sova: Sova is an empathetic individual who all but feels your pain when you sprain your ankle. He picks you up gently to carry you back to the Protocol so you can be healed, all while murmuring sweet little expressions of encouragement into your ear about how strong you are and how well you're doing. I wonder in what other circumstances he might do those things
Viper: She sighs when she sees you fall, knowing by how heavily you hit the ground that you've hurt yourself. "Little mouse," she clicks her tongue as she examines your ankle before picking you up and cradling you in her arms, "Are we going to have to have another talk about being more careful?"
Yoru: It's Yoru's fault you got hurt. He scared you after popping out of his dimensional drift and you tripped, your ankle twisting unnaturally as you hit the ground. He can tell by the way you cry out in pain that something is seriously wrong, and his cocky smile drops immediately. "I can't ever play pranks on you without you getting hurt," he says disdainfully, guilt etched into the lines on his forehead. "Come on, let's go get Skye." Despite his rough exterior, the way he picks you up is the most gentle of any of the other agents, his hands resting featherlight against your skin as he carries you to the infirmary.
I really hope you guys loved this! (I know I did!).
❂ Slowest Burn: Part 2 ❂
Chamber X OC
The Valorant team is assigned their next mission... but a few things aren't quite adding up.
Word Count: 915
8 minutes and a lot of confusing turns laters and the pair walked into the briefing room together, prompting a snicker from Phoenix and Jett. “Ah, nice!” Phoenix shouted, his usual boisterous tone dominating the room. “You found her!”
Flare cocked an eyebrow and glanced up at Chamber, who shrugged. “I may have already been up here and just came to see if you were in need of help.”
She pinched the bridge of her nose at his statement, opting to stay silent as she sat down. Great. Now she looked like even more of an idiot.
“Hey, don’t worry about it.” Brim, who had just walked in, made his way to the front of the room as he spoke. He then fixed Phoenix with an icy glare and said, “I’d think you of all people would be more understanding, given some of the places we found you when you were still getting lost. Or do you need reminding?”
Panic obscured the Brit’s features at the statement as if he had been caught doing something he shouldn’t. “No, that’s alright. I remember just fine,” he muttered.
“Good.” Brimstone looked at each of the agents seated at the table in turn, she guessed to make sure everyone was present. “Now that everyone’s here, we can get started.”
With the snap of his fingers, Brim dimmed the lights in the room, drawing attention to the holographic map that had appeared on the table. Trees and barren mountains extended upward on the edges, crowding around the 3-D facility in front of Flare. But there was something off about it.
“Is that…” Flare started.
“Yes, it is.” Brim walked closer to the table, clicking a button on the remote in his hand. The scene changed suddenly, the top half of the hologram flickering away to reveal a detailed map of the facility's guts.
“Reactor 2K3. Also known as the Fracture Reactor.”
She could see why. The reactor itself rested in the center of the facility, a thick, luminescent crack branching out from either side of it and dividing the landscape in two. On one side of the crack, barren, scorched earth gave way to small cacti and bushes. Even in the holographic depiction, she could see the orange sands that dusted the floors, painting everything in a warm glow.
On the other side of the crack, greenery flourished a bit too much. Trees towered and vines etched their paths along the stark metal walls, almost as if they had minds of their own. In some hallways, the vines were even so thick that they blocked the path, forcing whatever unlucky inhabitant that happened to be there to find another way through.
“As you all well know, the reactor recently underwent an incident and destabilized, killing most of the personnel in the process. Those who did escape suffered from severe injury and most of them have not yet been released from medical care.
“Unfortunately, those on the other side of this war would like to use it as a weapon. They want to harness the reactor’s energy and use it to both create incendiaries and bolster their own abilities—”
“Can it even do that?” Cypher interrupted his thick Moroccan drawl unmistakable even behind his mask.
Brim sighed as if the topic wasn’t something he was entirely comfortable with. “Technically yes, but it is extremely dangerous. With the concentration of Radianite that would be present in the serum distilled from its contents, it would have a 25% chance of killing you every time you took it.”
“Sheesh,” Phoenix mumbled, “talk about bad medicine.”
Brim flashed the young Brit yet another look before continuing his spiel. “It goes without saying that, if this were to fall into the wrong hands, it would be devastating. There’s no telling how many lives would be lost in the crossfire. Understand?”
Flare glanced around the table at the remainder of the team that had been assembled; Cypher, Skye, Jett, Phoenix, Chamber and herself. A seven-man team counting Brim, a number that was unusually high compared to the previous missions she had been sent on.
Each of the agents nodded their heads, though no one stood to leave. Flare assumed it was because they felt the same thing she did: that Brimstone had something else to say.
“There is… one more thing.” He continued after a moment of agonizing silence. “I won’t be coming with you this time.”
Confused murmurs echoed around the room and he put his hand up to halt them. “We’ve designated Chamber as captain of this mission. He’s done well leading teams in the past, and we trust him to get you all in and out of there safely.”
Chamber nodded his acknowledgment. “Oui, mon ami. I shall make sure everyone makes it back.”
As he spoke, Flare felt a tinge of worry strike through her chest. No one had been near the Fracture Reactor since the incident, considering that it could further destabilize and release another explosion at any time.
She quickly shoved the thought away, steeling herself for what would prove to be a tough assignment. This was why she became an agent of Valorant—to stop things like this from happening.
“Good,” Brimstone replied. Another snap and the holograph disappeared, the lights returning to their previous luminescence. “You’ll find the facility map and the rest of your brief in these folders—” he paused briefly as he tossed one at each of them, “—I recommend you memorize it. You leave at 0600.”
Yoru: It's a tough decision, but if I had to choose, I'd f*ck Phoenix, marry Neon, and kill Jett.
Viper, taking a confused sip of coffee: All I said was good morning
Valorant Characters if They Found Out You Had a Crush on Them (Part 2)
Neon: Neon is a lot like a cat—she loves affection, but she’ll never admit it or ask for it. So when she finds out you have a crush on her, she’ll try very hard to hide how flustered she actually is. Probably by asking questions that don’t make any sense. “Hey, so... I have a crush on you.” You tell her.
“What does that mean?”
“That... I like you?
“Yeah but what does that mean?”
Jett: Jett is an oblivious little cookie who spends more time terrorizing people that actually paying attention to her emotions. She’s the definition of “compress and compartmentalize.” Because of this, she doesn’t realize she like you like that until you actually say it first.
“Hey, I like you,” you say to her.
You see the entire process of thought on her face. First there’s a look on confusion, then something that looks like realization, then she looks you up and down, and suddenly her face is blood red. She starts mumbling gibberish and kicking at the dirt while you laugh at her dumbfounded expression. This, however, only makes her more flustered.
Sova: Our little Russian cookie has a heart of gold, so when you finally express your affection to him, expect his face to light up like a Christmas tree. He then gives you the tightest bear hug of your life and says, “This is incredible! Come, we have so much lost time to make up for!”

Neon: If coral gets stressed out, it dies.
Jett: So if I was coral, I'd be dead?
Yoru: What does coral even have to get to stressed about?
Phoenix: Current events.
Yoru: Get out
Valorant Characters if They Found Out You Had a Crush on Them (Part 1)
Chamber: While a bit emotionally closed off, he flirts like his life depends on it. So the first time your hand lingers on his for just a bit too long when he's handing you a pen, he notices. When you finally confess, it's all "But of course, mon tresor. I was wondering when you'd decide to confess your love for me."
In secret, though, he is ecstatic. You don't see it, but when you finally walk away, he does a happy little jump.
Phoenix: Our little firebird is the same as Chamber in terms of flirting all the time. However, he doesn't notice you flirting back with him, or the way you stare when he laughs. When you finally confess, he is floored. For the first time in his life, he's rendered speechless. "Should I... should I kiss you? Or is that too forward? Or do we go on a date first?" Mans has no clue.
Cypher: You don't ever actually have to confess to Cypher. He regularly runs surveillance on every agent in the Protocol, so when he one day hears you asking Killjoy what you should do about your feelings, he doesn't know what to do. From then on, every time he sees you he is a flustered mess who can't think straight. This goes on for a while and when you finally ask him what's wrong, he suddenly can't even string two words together.
Oh. Oh. "Cypher," you ask, "Did you overhear a conversation you weren't supposed to?"
"Yes," he admits. "I wanted to bring it up but I didn't know how. I... I would like to take you on a date."
Yoru: He's a man with trust issues out the wazoo. When you flirt, he just thinks you're being overly friendly, or that you're just a little weird. When you confess, he doesn't believe you.
"I have a crush on you," you admit.
"No you don't."
"Yes I do!"
"No you don't."
Taking his response as not reciprocating your feelings, you leave. However, Jett later tells him how upset you are about it and he realizes you weren't kidding. He comes to visit you with flowers in hand.
"This is what people do, right?" He asks when you answer the door, frowning when he sees how red your eyes are. "When they like each other?"
What characters should I include for part 2? Lemme know!
Would I Trust Them to Watch My Drink? 💠Valorant Editon💠
Brimstone: Absolutely. Man's would take his job very seriously. Plus he's intimidating so no one would even try to approach him to mess with it.
Astra: 100% yes. Try to mess with that drink she's watching and she'll clock you, no questions asked.
Breach: Unpopular opinion, but no. He strikes me as the type to say he's watching it but then not pay any attention at all.
Chamber: Do I trust him to make sure no one puts anything in my drink? Yes. HOWEVER Chamber is the type to slip an extra shot of tequila in your cocktail while you're gone to liven up the party. But if someone else tries to do anything to it, SeriousChamber™️ suddenly makes an apperance.
Cypher: Are you kidding? This defensive expert would be the perfect drink watcher. Nothing would get past him. 100% yes. And when you got back, he'd probably even ask if you wanted him to walk you home.
Kay-O: Disaster waiting to happen. If even perceives someone as thinking about trying to mess with your drink, he'll protect it. But they probably won't survive the encounter.
Jett: Nah. All it takes is for her to get in a particular kind of mood and suddenly there's mustard in your marg.
Killjoy: Oh she'll watch it for you, but at a price. Expect to have a safe drink when you get back, but be ready to be on test dummy duty for the next week.
Neon: I'd trust her. She's the type to say "Yeah, whatever. " when you ask her, but she lowkey takes the job to heart. When you come back, she's threatening some guy for looking at it. Turns out he just wanted to ask her for her number.
Omen: Omen would calmly accept to watch your drink and protect it, but he'd secretly be very flattered that you thought he would be a good drink watcher. 10/10 trustworthy.
Phoenix: Not in a million years. If he doesn't try to use the opportunity to prank you, then he's off getting distracted and forgetting what he's supposed to be doing.
Raze: She's a trustworthy drink watcher, but I'd be afraid of the after math.
Reyna: No. Not in a million years. Absolutely not. If you voluntarily hand this woman your drink, then you deserve whatever she does to it.
Sage: Are you kidding? I'd trust this woman with my house keys, bank account passwords, and my social security number.
Skye: As a woman whose been in her fair share of bar fights, she'd be the first person I ask to watch my drink.
Sova: Sova is a shy, polite gentleman who keeps to himself. He'd be a little embarrassed and a whole lot flustered that you'd ask him, and he'd guarantee your drink stays safe. 100/10 yes.
Viper: It depends. Are we good friends? If we are anything less than that, it's a no. The woman plays with poison for a living, come on
Yoru: Not a chance. This boy is the definition of mischief. He wouldn't poison you like Reyna or Viper, but he would pull some sneaky tricks like putting an octopus tentacle in it.
Okay, that's it! Hope you loved this and don't forget that my asks are open for Val fanfics!
❂ Slowest Burn: Part 1 ❂
(Chamber X OC)
As my first fanfic that I’m posting on here, I chose to start posting parts of my personal favorite. This fanfic was written for self-indulgence mostly, so if it isn’t your cup of tea, that’s alright too.
Synopsis: In which a new agent, Flare, joins the Valorant Protocol. Through joint missions and off-time, will she and Chamber become more than another agent to each other? Very slice of life (if life generally includes a lot of gunfire and angst)
CW: None in this part, I don’t think. Mostly just introduction to characters and whatnot.
Word Count: 500+
------------------
Avery felt lost as she wandered the Valorant Protocol compound, each turn taking her down a hallway that looked identical to the last. It wasn’t her first day here by any means, but it didn’t make navigating the place any easier. It was as if it had been designed to confuse the mind.
“Flare!” A voice called out from the other end of the hall, the single word laden with a heavy French accent. At the call, she stopped in her tracks. “Mon ami, what are you doing down here? You know we have a briefing in ten minutes, yes?”
That’s right. When she was here, within Valorant walls, she wasn’t Avery, the girl who loved to tinker and spend her free afternoons at the archery range. She was Flare, Agent 2307, and she was responsible for helping them win this war by any means necessary.
Clacking echoed against the empty cinderblock walls as he approached, pulling her away from her thoughts. The hard heels of the man’s dress shoes struck tile with every step.
“Chamber!” She called out, a note of relief in her voice. She gave a huff, then said, “I’m lost again.”
An amused smile tugged at the corners of the man’s lips and he gave a quiet chuckle, light glinting off the gold etching that adorned the left side of his face as he finally reached her. He peered at her over his gold-rimmed glasses, one hand idly rerolling a sleeve on his dress shirt that had come a little loose. “Again? What is that, the fourth time this week?”
As someone who had only been with Valorant a few months longer than herself, it still shocked her that he seemed to have every square inch of the building memorized. After all, she had been there for two weeks (attending seven missions in that time frame) and still couldn’t even find the bathrooms. It was honestly a miracle she could find her way back to the dorms at night.
“Something like that,” she mumbled, looking down at her feet and fighting the embarrassed blush that washed over her features. Valorant agents were supposed to be elite. They were meant to be people who could learn and react quickly and faced death as the punishment for their slipups. After all, the enemy didn’t care if you made a mistake. They saw it as an opportunity.
Unfortunately, she continuously felt those traits were just out of her reach, and she wondered how she hadn’t been killed yet.
He sighed, placing a hand on her shoulder and prompting her to look up at him. “My first few weeks in the Protocol were tough as well, mon ami. Don’t let the nerves get to you. You have good instincts, and you’ll learn the way around soon enough.”
“You think so?” She mumbled, not wholly convinced.
“Oh, I know so.” At finally seeing a relaxed smile wash across her features, the man dropped his hand back to his side and sidestepped around her, beckoning her to follow.
“Come on, you can follow me to the briefing room. Can’t have you being late, can we?”
