Mermaids are such mystical, mythical creatures, cloaked in mystery and shrouded in the abstruse. Scandinavian pop sensation Skott has been exuding much of that same enigmatic allure after emerging into the spotlight with her debut, Porcelain, over a year ago. Her background itself seems Delphian. Skott grew up in a small town forest commune run by ‘outkast’ folk musicians, and we’ve never quite known exactly where she’s from. Her music has been bewitching, to say the least, and new song Mermaid adds to her sophisticated magnetism. Skott’s vocal range is on full display on this enchanting pop aria, Mermaid emanates the wispy melancholy of Lana Del Rey and the dark haunting pop of Lykke Li, as well as some of the galvanic vocal power of Tei Shi.
