"Hey, again. Didn't know you were so…shy," Jack said, trying to sound friendly.
Dennis's teeth dug into his own bottom lip. "Maybe you just don't know me very well," he hummed, looking at the register instead of Jack.
Jack watched his face carefully. He saw the fidgety nerves he saw in the shoplifting high schoolers he usually got tasked with stopping at the doors of the various stores in town.
"Did I do something to upset you?" Jack asked, leaning down to talk to him.
"No, you didn't."
"Then why-"
Dennis put Jack's card in his hand. "Have a good day."

Jack is a cop and business owner in a small, sleepy town, with his son, Sam. Dennis rolls into town one day with a weird past and something about him that Jack can’t quite figure out.

Rabbot who never really “cuddled” before Dennis was brought into the relationship.
Sure, they sit by each other and hold hands or, as Jack puts it, “play grab-ass,” but they don’t spoon or anything. If one of them is having a hard time falling asleep, the other might hold his arm or hand, but typically will roll over when the job is done to fall asleep themselves.
Dennis, world’s most persistent cuddlebug, indirectly refuses to fall asleep in their apartment if he’s not actively being held. They’re more than happy to oblige him, of course, but it’s a change they’re getting used to.
But, one night, Dennis is back at his and Trinity’s apartment, spending some much needed time with her. Jack and Robby are laying awake next to each other, both staring at the ceiling unable to fall asleep without a sweet boy between them.
Then, they look at each other, and slowly wrap themselves around the other. They fall asleep like that, and Dennis finds them the next morning when he let himself in before work.
Joy hated the ER. It's was loud, occasionally lawless, and not at all a practical elective choice for her degree. But, she had an empty spot in her schedule and a nurse she never asked out on a date.
She spent her entire summer break convincing herself that she liked the PTMC, not just Emma Nolan. It was impossible to like the PTMC, so she just accepted that she had a crush on the nurse. It wasn't hard, anyone would love Emma. She was sweet and thoughtful and made that compassionate but afraid smile at everyone.
Forgive Joy for being endeared to the embodiment of sunshine that had somehow snuck into an emergency room.

Effervescence - (of a person) lively, bubbly, and charismatic
Jacks the one who catches Dennis. He was on a walk to clear his head, just walking around the track at the park. A jogger goes past, a little thing in tiny shorts and a big collage hoodie. Jack only catches a flash but he knows that med school.
He doesn’t think of it much till he sees the jogger, a boy, sitting on his usual bench. He’s cute, big eyes, soft skin, all fresh and soft. Jack sits next to him and strikes up a conversation. Dennis, and he’s in med school and new to the area. He asks where Jack works out at, if he usually walks in the park this time, where’s a good place to get coffee.
Jack likes him. He’s always liked blondes though. He doesn’t tell Robby at first, just keeping it to himself till he got a good feel for the kid.
Then Jack sees Dennis at the gym, goes over to the boy, who was dressed in loose sweatpants and a sweatshirt, all hidden away, doing some bench presses when Jack notices.
Notices that kids benching a whole hell of a lot more than he could. When Dennis gets done he sits up and gives the shyest, most timid little wave to Jack, eyes barely meeting a fraction of a second.
They catch coffee and Jack gives him his number. Because he knew. He just knew Robby would eat him up.
Anyway, I was listening to Telephone by Lady Gaga and it got me thinking about HuckleAbbot meeting at a club or dive bar. A little HuckleRobby, too. Like, Dennis going to the bar after Robby told him they're just "being casual" and Dennis gets mad and is feeling a little self-destructive. If they're just "being casual" then Dennis can go out and hook up or make-out with whoever he wants, right? He just didn't expect the night shift attending to be there, too and...
It's a dark corner in a seedy place and Dennis kissed two other men before he saw Abbot. At first, he panicked. A few drinks and some fun on the dance floor should be fine. It's his life. He can do whatever he wants, but he also knows doctor's are meant to be reputable. It's stupid because they should get a life too.
The panic only grew when Abbot approached him and pulled him away from the third guy Dennis only kind of wanted to make-out with. Dennis didn't argue, a million excuses on his tongue, ready to explain that it wasn't cheating if Robby didn't even want to be exclusive. Dennis is a grown man. He can do what he wants with who he wants and--
And Abbot's arm is around his waist and Dennis is pressed up against a wall.
"Here I was thinking someone had a claim on you," Abbot mutters. His face is right against Dennis' neck and he cranes his chin up to let Abbot have more access. His breath is hot and Dennis kind of wants to taste whatever he may have ordered from the bar. The last few guys made fun of the fruity drink Dennis had bought, but he had enough beers in his youth with his brothers to know he didn't like them.
"No one claims me," Dennis grumbles, "I'm an adult."
"Oh, I'm sure," Abbot says, licking against the sweat at Dennis' collar and Dennis shivers. His voice a condescending tone and Dennis kind of likes it. "If you weren't one, you wouldn't be buying your own drinks." Dennis flushes because... well, he'd maybe gotten the last two guys to buy his drinks and with the way Abbot laughs, he knows.
Dennis isn't able to respond, because Abbot has an open mouth against his neck, and Dennis' knees go weak and then there's a thigh between his legs. Dennis lets it happen, moans a little at how good it feels. Someone with more experience than the wandering hands that seemed to stutter at his waist and hips that were different than they seemed to expect.
There's a buzzing in his back pocket and Dennis huffs as Abbot continues to kiss and suck and grind his thigh up which his only becoming harder to pretend to ignore.
The phone stops ringing and Dennis hums in delight, deciding it might just be a one time thing. Maybe it's not even Robby.
It starts again and this time, Dennis manages to fishes the phone out before it goes to voicemail.
"I don't mind," Abbot says, nipping at his earlobe, "Kinda having fun playing with you like this, anyway." Dennis snorts and meets his eyes.
"Like what?" he says.
"You're not very receptive. Just letting me do what I want... kinda like a doll." Dennis grows hotter at that. He answers the phone and Abbot grins before paying attention to the other side of Dennis' neck and he doesn't mean to outright moan into the receiver, but Abbot found this place closer to the nape of his neck at the same time his hands went under his shirt--
"Where are you?" Robby asks. His voice is strained.
"Why?" Dennis says. Abbot's hands are squeezing and pinching. Dennis let's his head fully fall back against the wall and sighs.
"Why... I thought we talked about you coming over tonight?"
"Yeah, but I decided I don't want to." Abbot pulls back to snort at Dennis' answer. Dennis is sure he can't hear Robby over the music and everything else happening. It doesn't matter because Dennis outright giggles at the laugh from Abbot. It's something he doesn't do anymore, not after how much he got teased about being girly, but right now he likes it. Plus, Abbot's stubble kinda tickles when he just nuzzles against Dennis' neck like that.
He forgets Robby's on the phone until he talks again several seconds later.
"Are you with someone?" he asks. If Dennis were more sober, he might've heard the small hurt in his voice. Right now, though, he's focused on his free hand grabbing at Abbot's bicep and feeling it up a little. It's only fair.
"Kinda," Dennis says, "'M at... Honestly it might be a gay bar."
"You don't know where you are?" Dennis scoffs then grins as Abbot pumps his bicep for Dennis to press harder into. One of his nails scrapes just under his nipple and Dennis stifles a moan.
"'Course I know where I am," he says, "I'm with Jack."
"You're with--!"
"I gotta go." He pulls the phone away from his ear and doesn't look as he (hopefully) hangs up and shoves his phone back into his pocket. It's much easier to pull Abbot into a proper kiss without it.
There was a ghost in town, and Roy Harper knew it. He haunted the streets and the bars, walked in right before they closed, and stuck around until he was kicked out. He lingered on the edge of town, in cacti and wildness.
Nobody else seemed to notice him, and if they did, they didn't say anything about him. Roy himself never paid him too much mind, but he always silently took note of the shadow watching Star City.
That changed when the man himself waltzed into the bar the same night Roy had. He sat down one stool away from him at the bar, and he was wordlessly handed a glass full of something that smelled strong by the bartender.

Doing my Yuuri on Ice rewatch (as I do every summer) and something that I noticed and LOVE is how Yuuri K. treats Yuri P. Like, within having his first full conversation with Yurio (outside of him yelling in a bathroom), Yuuri realizes and understands that Yurio is bitter. He’s having an angsty phase exacerbated by it being his first year in the senior division and being mad at Victor for not immediately upholding his promise.
And Yuuri sees that. And he doesn’t take literally anything Yurio says seriously (even if he is being a shithead). I just think it’s sweet. And I like how Yuuri kinda play fights back with him, especially when they’re arguing about Victor
In the English dub, Yuuri kinda chuckles when Yurio starts hooting and hollering
As much as I love the dynamic where Jack is the one who gives Dennis the rough punishments and reprimands he needs, and Robby is the one who goes soft on him…I’m having a lot of fun with flipping that dynamic around the opposite way. Hold my hand here.

Robby’s been at work with Dennis ALL day. He’s watched him mouth off and roll his eyes when he thinks no one is looking. He’s been watching him tap his foot impatiently through every task of the day. When Robby quietly chides him for rolling his eyes while the attending was talking to him, Dennis just bites back with a little remark Robby barely hears.
They get home, and Jack has the night off, so he’s just laying in bed and watching TV or something. Ever since waking up a few hours ago, he’d been impatiently waiting for his boys to get home from their own shifts.
Dennis gets home a little bit before Robby, which Jack can admit is unusual, but not crazy. Robby often worked late, considering his position and dedication to thoroughly overworking himself. Dennis quickly showered and came to bed. Jack was more than happy to take him in his arms and love on him, kissing him all over and letting him lay contented in his arms.
Jack was in the middle of cooing about how good he was when he heard the sound of Robby’s key turning the front door and the bedroom’s door creaking open.
“Den, go get the paddle,” Robby huffed, no room for argument.
At Dennis’s petulant whines, Jack stroked his hair. “The paddle? What did you do, baby?”
Dennis swiftly denies any and all wrongdoings and allegations. He swears to Jack that he’s been good all day and Robby is just in a bad mood and looking to punish him for nothing.
“Don’t listen to him,” Robby scoffed, walking into the bedroom further and kissing Jack chastely. “He’s been a terror all day. He needs put over someone’s knee.”
Jack looked down at the sweet boy in his arms, who had done nothing but come in and lay down with him and be his sweet little pup.
“Oh, not our Dennis,” Jack hummed. “He’s been sweet.”
Robby wrinkled his nose. “No the fuck he-”
“You’re right baby, he’s in a bad mood. Rob, go shower and come lay down. Our boy’s been good.”
What Jack did not see was the childish little gesture Dennis made at Robby behind his back, sticking out his tongue at him. Robby, in a moment of weakness, flipped him off.
All Dennis has to do to get out of any punishment is make goo goo eyes at Jack, and he is absolved.
This stops working when he starts picking up a few night shifts, of course, but it’s nice while it lasts.
