Maple the Night fury

Maple is a 5 year (20 dragon years (?)) female Night Fury. She is very friendly and rambunctous, and loves a good cuddle. She lives with her mate Fira, and stays in her cave comfortably a few mountains away from Berk. She has few friends besides Naga and Hiccup, and doesn't find much comfort among other dragons that she hasn't gotten to know. But doesn't mean she isn't willing to try and get to know you! Maple had managed to spook a few small dragons, a new species to the area that seemed to spit temporary blinding juices. She roared in pain and wiped at her eyes frantically before rubbing her face in the dirt. Just her luck. “It burns it burns! I can’t see!”

"Maple? Mapes calm down sweetheart" the fury said, flicking her ears back as she hurried over, licking her face gently "to be fair you were being a bully you know"

Maple growled and pawed at her eyes again before flinching at the feeling of her face being licked. "I-I was not! They startled me! I-I can't open my eyes..." She whined and shook her head, thumping her tail in agitation.

Looking over at the small one she quickly catches her head and speaks in a soft tone.

"Oh no, no, no! Don’t sleep, not yet. Come on girl." Throwing her bag off to the side She starts to gentle move the dragon this way and that to look at each arrow. There is only one that Fang is worried about but the others would be quick and easy jobs. Quickly grabbing a jar of salve from her bag she opens it, sets it off to the side for easy access and then rubs the top of the little one’s head.

"This is going to hurt girl just bear with it." As soon as she lifts her hand the red Nightfury’s head takes it’s place purring and trying to sooth the little one and she is also there just in case she tries to jerk away. 

{You did what you knew to do. Do not be sorry and be strong instead.} placing a hand on the black dragon and gripping the arrow tightly the human positions herself to take out the arrow. In one quick motion she jerks the arrow and has it out.

"Got you!" Gathering a thick dab of salve on her fingers, Fang coats the wound. This which stops the bleeding.

"Good girl, you’re such a good girl." She knows the thick goop must feel really cold and tingly but soon it will harden and mimic the feel of her own scales. With one success down the other easy arrows pull out smoothly and the wounds are coated with salve and drying. Looking at the last arrow the human sighs and tries to think of the best way to take it out without the arrow head snapping off.

Maple endured the arrows being pulled from her hide, only growling in pain every now and then before bellowing weakly. She let out a low whine before pinning her ears back, that last arrow really hurt. She didn't really want it to be touched, since even her breathing was painful because of where it had struck. She closed her eyes tightly, nostrils flaring. She might as well prepare herself to have it taken out, though the anticipation made it worse.

The red Nightfury flashes her eyes from the human, to Maple, and back again. The humans hand shakes she she tries to reach her hand out closer to them. On top of that she keeps chanting one word over and over and over in a light whisper as if she is praying.

"Please, please, please, please." Slowly the dragon barely taps her hand with her nose and then presses her head into her palm. A small jerk from the human’s is her and hope-filled teary eyes peeking over her shoulder is the dragon’s response. In a voice as soft as the clouds the human whispers to the red Nightfury.

"Oh good girl, good girls. Shhhh shhhh shhh I have you, you’re safe." Even the dragon can her the tears and pain in the human’s voice. Slowly moving the back of her hand to the nose of the black Nightfury she wait for her reaction before touching her.

Maple didn't hesitate to press her head beneath the girl's palm, weakly bellowing before laying back down and closing her eyes. If anything she wanted to sleep, but the burning in her chest was keeping her painfully awake. One of the arrows, though most weren't fatal or even inflicting that much damage, was embedded more deeply and in a vital spot as well. Maple was young, and grew into the whole "Humans are okay-ish." lifestyle. She never had to learn how to fight. Now she was laying on the ground bleeding and hurt, and caused her friend to get hurt because she couldn't defend herself. Twice... "M'...real sorry...."

The child flinched a little when the large dragon bellowed, looking up at her in confusion as he lay on top of her large, scaly belly.

When she saw where the child was she relaxed again and resumed her purring, idly itching at her neck before yawning.

The child giggled as she licked him, crawling in between her massive, scaly forepaws, and beginning to give her belly rubs.

The dragon rumbled loudly and purred even louder, settling happily on her back to recieve the belly rubs. Sooo nice~ After a while she even fell asleep. But quickly startled herself awake and bellowed at the child, perking her ears curious as to where they were.

The child giggled as she purred, gently scratching her neck with his tiny hands and fingers, and even going as far as hugging the warm dragon.

Maple chortled and gave the child a gentle lick when she was hugged before laying down and flopping on her side. At this point she was a jungle gym to play on, though her wings were usually off limits. But her wagging tail was available to play with. Plus belly rubs. Always welcome.

Drawing her sword form a now dead hunter the woman looks at the two night furies before her. A young black one with two arrows sticking out of her hide and unconscious on the ground. And a red older one crying out in pain as she tries to mover her wings

{Oh sky above please let this not be real. Let this be a nightmare! Little one little one please wake up!} Slowly crawling to the black nightfury she is finally able to nudge her lightly with her nose. The girl watches the two with her brows frowning and her face turned down.

"How am I going to take care of both of them?" Sticking her sword in the ground she starts to disarm herself and slowly inch closer to the two. Crouched in a dragon like crawl she walks on all fours over to the dragons. seeing the movement the red nightfury turns to face and shield her friend from the human. But as she moves her wings to make herself looks bigger a loud high pitched sob leaves the dragon’s jaws before the growl.

"Oh gods above I am sorry I didn’t get here in time." Holding out her hand the woman looks over at the red dragon and then the black.

"Let me help please?" Stopping where she is she closes her eyes and waits for their answer.

Maple opened her eyes, her vision blurring and her breathing becoming frantic from the pain that engulfed her. Her chest felt like it was on fire, and trying to see the figure before them was just making her head spin. She let out a soft whine and just stopped trying to move. She felt worse for the other nightfury, having seen what the men had done to her wings it didn't look like she'd be able to fly for a long while. She was more vulnerable then Maple was. Arrows were one thing. Those wounds would heal, but damaging a dragons wings were almost always near fatal. Though not overly fond of humans, Maple knew when she was beat and when she knew she needed help, so she decided not to struggle and gave a quiet bellow to the other, "J-just..let her help...she would've finished us off already if sh- ggnnh....really wanted to kill us...let her help. We won't make it very hff...long if we don't. And I don't know about you but I have pups I'd like to get home to..."
