To one of your closest and oldest friends.

“Y/N! Absolutely, I will do anything that I can to help. The soonest I could come out to the farm would be Friday evening. Does that work?” Mary’s heart burst at the situation. She had a big soft spot for children in bad homes, and she knew if you were calling her… well, it wasn’t good.

“Friday works wonderfully. You can have dinner with us, and we can all get a bit more comfortable with Amelia.” You were so relieved and couldn’t wait to tell Larissa the good news. After your call, you went on with your work grading a few papers to help one of the other teachers and waited for Larissa to finish her half day at the school.

“Darling, I’m home!” Your wife called, hanging her coat on the hook and taking off her heels with a long sigh. You and Larissa had decided to stop “Trying” per say, it was affecting your mental health too much. You had gone on with your lives and raving sex life as Larissa liked to call it. It was a normal Tuesday night for you two. You made dinner, and Larissa got home late from the school. It was nearing thanksgiving, and the students were all panicking about their final tests before the holiday break. Larissa was telling you all about the young girl that she had grown to love at the school Amelia. She was raised by her grandparents after her parents were killed in a car accident when she was 6, by the time she turned 10, her grandmother had passed, and her grandfather wasn’t the nicest of men. You started losing the excitement and started gaining sadness.
