He came into our veterinary clinic two days ago with his left hind leg dangling and completely without any use of it. We performed x-rays and discovered he had fractured his femur. Joe was in the back of his dad's truck while they were out feeding dad's herd of cattle and when one of them got too close to Joe he jumped out, scared, and tried to run. The cow chased him under the truck and before his dad even knew what had happened, he ran poor Joe over. Never in my life have I seen someone so upset and guilt ridden. He said Joe was his "partner" and went everywhere with him. Unfortunately he has been forced to consider humane euthanasia for Joe because he does not know if he can cover medical expenses for the surgical repair of Joe's Leg. His dad is selling some of his cattle, his entire livelihood, to try and raise enough money to save Joe. Throughout this entire experience Joe has not once stopped wagging his tail and giving us kisses. He is the actual definition of "good boy."
