strawberry juice 🍓

ingredients:

- 8 frozen strawberries

- 2 tbsp of honey

- 2 tbsp of lemon juice

- 4 cups of water

- mint leaves

- ice

instructions:

boil the water in a medium pot! when the water starts to boil add six of the frozen strawberries

let them boil for about ten minutes, then remove the strawberries with a fork! add honey to the strawberry water and let it sit for about 2 minutes

strain any strawberry bits out of ur juice (that part is completely optional) and then pour it into a cup/jar! add lemon juice and two frozen strawberries and let it chill in the fridge for a few hours

remove the strawberries, replace them with ice, and garnish with lemon slices and fresh or frozen strawberries and mint leaves!

y'all do realize that Black History Montj was started by Carter G. Woodson as Negro History Week and he choose to do the week in February for Frederick Douglas’s birthday anf it was later extended intk the entore month by the Kent State Black Student Union. It has nothing to do with February being the shortest month of the year. It’s Black history month for god’s sake please open a book and learn something

I can’t even get into it, cause it depends on the island, sometimes the part of the island, and skin hue and elocution and a whole bunch of factors that’s  too complex to get into. definitely the base of this along with the foundation of some countries having had early independence etc and how that played into the diaspora as well as how being on a small island (even Jamaica, even with the Maroons) curtailed certain violence because if blacks went ‘fuck it, burn it all, we all die together’ there’d be nowhere for whites to run but into the sea and drown. So yeah, it’s complicated.

what i’ve always wondered is to what degree the carribbean climate created this overall attitude? as a haitian man born in brooklyn, i’ve as hot tempered as any of my haitian brethren. my mom used to say that it’s because carribbean people overall are hot tempered (men and women). we just have a much shorter fuse because of the heat. she would tell me that when you’re hot as hell, you have less patience for bullshit and therefore we fly off the handle much quicker. 

now clearly there’s some armchair psychology at play here but i would like to see a study on this. i’m pretty sure that played a part in the above attitude towards racism.
