thinking about asra on the way home from work today as i often do and i just think it’s so beautiful. he’s this loner kid who only ever looked out for himself. he had muriel, yes, and they were close in their way, but part of his archetype is being…selfish. he thinks about things from his own point of view pretty much exclusively. he’s very self oriented. and part of that is growing up an orphan.

but then you have this kid. this brilliantly magical kid. who grows up to be a brilliantly magical teenager. and he falls in love. first time he likes someone and it’s you. and he falls so, so, so in love. how different his life would have been without that.

and he isn’t mad about it either. that’s what really gets me. it’s not the “ugh…you pulled me out of my self absorbed life because i love you…” it’s just. that’s what his world shifted into. his whole life shifted to accommodate you. and he is so happy about that. he goes after you after you’re gone because he literally can’t *not*. i just. man.

It must have been very amusing for everyone else in the Inquisition when the serious, scholarly hedge mage suddenly developed an obvious crush on Lavellan.

Like, I imagine he thought he was being subtle but I am sure everyone knew. They saw the blushes. The longing glances. Dorian looked over the balcony and saw him sketching her. Varric caught him looking up love poetry in the library. It was an open secret maybe even before Lavellan herself knew.

They were definitely all gossiping about it. Cass pretended to disapprove but secretly found it romantic. Dorian thought he had no chance of landing her. Varric tried taking Solas aside to give romactic advice. Sera was continually making fun of him.

Then one day all of a sudden Solas and Lavellan are both quietly glowing and can't stop smiling at each other. Everyone else just gives each other knowing looks, and Varric collects money from everyone who bet against it. They all comment on how they've never seen Lavellan look so happy; and after all Solas may be odd but he's clearly devoted to her, so they all feel confident he'd never ever hurt her.
