Expiration date on the bottled water is actually for the bottle not for the water... #facts #beagenius #water #waterbottle #science #FactsChallenge #factss https://www.instagram.com/p/CrsdZWCNMU7/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
Turning 18 soon so thought I'd share
17 things I learnt at 17:
1. Know yourself. No one will know you better than yourself. You are your own bestfriend till the very end afterall.
2. Learning to let go of materialistic things & people. It's hard to let go of people especially but nothing is meant to stay forever exactly the way it was in the beginning. Make the most of it while it's there.
3. Be positive about the future. Stop bringing yourself down as a joke always. And remember its easy for your thoughts to become toxic positivity. Reflect on them. And don't lose touch of reality and become delusional. If things are bad. Yes they are bad. But it'll get better and do what you can. Storms always pass. Just don't stay in a room and pretend there isn't a storm happening outside.
4. Being in the present. You've lost too much time worrying and being anxious about everything. And worrying changes absolutely nothing. There's a quote I always remember by Andrei Platonov: "Do you know how much thinking and feeling I've done? It's terrible. And nothing's come of it."
5. Don't compare yourself to others. Yes there is someone out there better than you, more talented than you, looks hotter than you. But that does not change your importance or value. Cherish and embrace who you are. Do what makes you truely happy and content. Stop trying to please others. What are you even going to get out of it?
6. Don't react to every situation. Most of the time it's just not worth your energy and peace of mind.
7. Sometimes you have to be selfish. Some people don't change and you'll realize they're not worth your effort and time. Instead use that for yourself, learn from the situation and grow.
8. Yes, things could be much worse. Yes you should be grateful for the life your living. But whatever sh*tty emotion you're feeling is completely okay. Do not feel bad about how your feeling as your emotions are valid no matter what others may say.
9. Just because someone suffers from anxiety attacks or feels sad because of a certain situation, which looks fine to you because they have better things than you, doesn't mean what they're going through is not as bad as what you've gone through. Their emotions are just as valid as yours. Everyone is on their own journey, let's respect that.
10. Open up. Not everyone is here to hurt you. Share your feelings with the right people. Sometimes you have to take that first step & you'll be surprised how much that they actually wanted to talk to you once you do. Trust me it'll be fully worth it and that baggage over your shoulder will feel a lot lighter.
11. Tell 'I love you', 'thank you', more often to the people you adore randomly. Give genuine compliments to others. The warmth that brings is everything. Would you ever dislike it if someone complimented you no matter what day it is? You'd appreciate it either way right.
12. Progress can be slow and its okay not to do anything for days. But remember to get back up because you have so much more to live for. Your life is made of the nows. What your doing now is what your future self will be looking back to. So make memories, learn and keep growing.
13. Parents and adults can be really hard to deal with. They can be really tough on you and not understand where you're coming from. And opening yourself up sometimes just doesn't help. So remember their opinions do not define who you are. You know yourself & you don't have to prove yourself to anyone. They'll realize eventually. Just focus on you.
14. Sometimes your just 2 seconds of courage away from making great memories/experiences in life. Don't think too much while you're trying to be brave. Fake it till you make it as they say. Just take that step. What is the worse that could happen honestly? Most of the times people look at what they're going to lose and not gain thereby losing more than they actually would've lost.
15. Get off your phone more often. There are hundreds of amazing things to do in the outside world. Social media is great. But only to some extent. Spend more time on your hobbies which bring happiness and calms you. It's sad seeing people not have hobbies but have enough time to spend looking at what others are doing in their life. And you'll realize once you stop spending time on social media the more your comfortable without it.
16. Don't judge others. There is so much more to that person than you think you know. Stop judging everything and making assumptions. Usually it just creates misunderstandings.
And finally 17. Times get tough. Things can be so overwhelming. No one can say if it gets better anytime soon. But it will eventually. There will be many times when you just feel stuck. But everything changes with time and nothing lasts forever. Dont beat yourself up.
I can imagine Makoto with a strong friend or s/o, always asking you to battle them but always end up losing.
