lol past me, you graduated with an english degree but now you are in seminary. you’re not sure if you found God or if God found you but you love him and you love his people and you are very passionate about ministry and good fellowship and the gospel. you don’t know what you are going to do when you graduate but you do know that you want to share that gospel. you do know that God will provide for you. you do know that it is okay to not know.

3/7/17 - you’re going on a date with this boy on friday. you’ve been talking for a little over two months and you really like him. he’s sweet, funny, he encourages you, he prays for you, you’re a lot alike. he never pressures you, he likes you for you, he’s a gentleman, he listens to you. often you feel anxious but when you’re near him, you feel calm.

8/17/18 - you and the boy broke up but you’re better for it. wrong timing and a hard heartbreak but you’re learning through it. you graduated with your masters and you now live in seattle washington. you’re an assistant middle school teacher. after this long year, you’ve found your calm not from others but from the God within yourself. right now life is unclear but you’re shifting through the blur.

In some black communities there’s still a stigma that kinky or coarse hair is “bad”, which couldn’t be further from the truth. There’s no such thing as good or bad when describing someone’s natural hair texture or type. To those struggling to love and accept their natural hair because of societal pressures, remember this - straight, curly, kinky or wavy, it doesn’t make a difference. Embrace your hair the way it is, no matter what society tells you. All hair is good hair. It’s your Crown.

2017 Goals

- wake up earlier and have a routine that’s not rushed

- journal more often; at least weekly

- listen to a podcast in the mornings

- eat out less for lunch; pack meals

- on that note, meal plan

- spend less on coffee, make your own and keep a thermos

- exercise? work on muscle toning

- eat more vegetables

- worry less; write out your worries and give them to jesus

- when your head is cluttered and you feel distraught and stuck, meditate and breathe

- you are going to be okay

- and even more than that, you will thrive
