I was listening to a lecture about Diogenes the cynic on YouTube. When it was finished I read through a bunch of the comments. Lots of repetitive shit in those comments. Different people saying the same things in different ways. Kinda boring but one of the comments repeating itself caught my attention. The comments kept saying "how can he call himself self sufficient if he begs for money? He lives off handouts." Well it struck a touch of hatred in my heart cuz in my opinion it seemed so very clear. He's doing the same thing rich people (CEOs presidents board members and what not) do. Sitting back and collecting. He's just not doing it to excess like the fat cats do now a days. If we're all at a bar Diogenes is trying to get someone to buy him a beer while a rich dude at the same bar is trying to get someone to buy him 100 beers. Both are self sufficient in that they are working to get free beer. One askes for what he needs while the other asks for what he wants. Anyway main point of my ramble is that he is self sufficient in that he gets what he needs by compelling people to give it to him sort of like how billionaires do. But suprise they dont get shit on for doing nothing. They get prase for working so hard when they arnt. in our sosiety if you have a lot you mean a lot and must have earned it while if you have a little your your worth very little and need to get a job! Guess a lot of people don't see it that way due to the societal structure we've come to know and worship....
