Friendly reminder that this world was designed for neurotypicals and if you’re neurodiverse or mentally ill and you’re struggling, please be kinder to yourself because you’re doing your best in a world that wasn’t designed for you
I think…the desire to attend Mass during Easter or Christmas (only) for fallen away Catholics is a very fine thread of attachment that can be severed entirely if we approach them with scissors or knives rather than tenderness. I believe that’s why I feel so strangely protective of Catholics who so desperately wish to belong to a world where God dwells, although they clearly feel so unwanted and unworthy and it’s no surprise why they feel so. I cannot tell you the number of times I have spoken to people who do not attend anymore for reasons that range from self hatred to trauma, all of them clearly hoping to fall into that place again where the warmth of God once against fills them.
Maybe it’s my nature, like a ‘mothering instinct’, or maybe I see myself in them.

I want to be known as someone who’s full of love and radiates light
Restaurants and bars really love to test your sobriety by making the route to their bathrooms as labyrinthine as possible
Me: I'm not that drunk
Me trying to figure out where the Fuck they've hidden the restrooms in this bar: So this is how Odysseus felt huh
Everyone tagging this post with their local bars/restaurants that have ridiculous bathroom layouts.....I see u. I am u. We are all Odysseus, and our Ithaca is a toilet covered in stickers.
I love you just as you are, you don’t need to be perfect to deserve love Posted by: ItsmeAwesome77 Posted on: wholesomememes for more information: https://ift.tt/3v51ooC
idk who needs to hear this but there is literally nothing that would be “too small” or “too insignificant” to stay alive for. You think birds are cute? Go for another day to see more of them jump around in the snow. You like hot chocolate? Wake up tomorrow to make yourself another cup. You are really into that one (objectively kinda crappy) series? Go until next Wednesday when the new episode airs. You do not always need a great purpose. If you have a small thing that can take you to the next morning? That thing is great. That thing is enough. Go get that thing.

Pick a bottle any bottle lol
I recently read an article about a therapy group for depressed people who had all attempted suicide at some point. The breakthrough question for them was, “If your goal was to be just as miserable as possible, what would you do?” Most of them listed things like not getting enough sleep, or isolating themselves from everyone… the list goes on, but the point is, they listed things they already do. But now they saw those “coping mechanisms” for what they really were: things that were actively making their condition worse.
I read that article at 2:00 AM, asked myself, am I TRYING to be miserable tomorrow? And it was easier than usual to put my phone down and fall asleep. Even my intrusive “lying down” thoughts about meaninglessness and existential dread were easier to suppress when I framed them as things I’d think about to purposefully make myself feel as awful as possible.
Fuck that is helpful
an author i love just tweeted about how “big joy and small joy are the same” and how she was just as content the other night eating chocolate and cuddling her dog as she was on her Big Trip to new york and honestly. i think that’s it. this morning i was listening to an audiobook while baking shortbread in my joggers and i realised i really didn’t care what Big Things happened in my future as long as i could keep baking and reading at the weekend and maybe that is the kind of bar we have to set to guard ourselves against disappointment. just appreciate and cherish the mundane stuff and see everything else as a bonus.
