Holy cow it's sure been awhile since my last post, so grab your popcorn and get cozy, this is going to be a long one. Hmmmmm...so what has the Haupt family been up to since Easter. Well, let's start with April. Max turned 1.5 and is just growing up too fast. At 18 months he was 3ft (36") tall and weighed in at 29lbs.He is all over the place, mimicking his big bro and in to everything. As usual. But this kid is FUNNY! He has so much character and personality I am so excited to see what he grows into, I just know that there will never be a dull moment. In fact, he reminds me of another goofy guy in my life. :)
All the time now he is learning new words and has even slipped out a few phrases "I sit" or "you sit", and of course "what is this?" He can jump with both feet leaving the ground and has helping more by putting things away. His love for smashing and destroying though is still very prominent.
May. Of course Henry turned 4! He is really the sweetest, whole hearted little boy I have ever met. He is showing his goofy side more and more and is so smart and well-behaved. He says the funniest, most factual statements and we really should be writing them down but hey...it's taken me almost two months to write a new post and Max still has yet to have one picture added to his baby book. Yeah...that's not going happen.
For Henry's birthday we had a stay-home-day from school and work and Greg and I took him to the City Museum, and out to Bailey's Range for milkshakes, French fries and burgers. He had so much fun with his new present from mommy & daddy and Rexi (the T-Rex) still get a lot of action almost every day. Henry towers at 46.5" (3'10.5") tall and weighs 41.3lbs. He can say and recognize his entire alphabet without errors, count to 30 with a few errors, can spell everyone in his family's name, is practicing balancing riding his Razor scooter and balance bike, and knows an endless amount of songs which he loves to sing. His favorite past time is still ol' faithful trains and building tall structures. Added to the list over the past few months is wrestling around with his baby brother Max. He is the best big brother a kid could ask for and I sure hope Max realizes this, because I sure do!
Another May moment was Mother's Day. Greg and the boys treated me right. I woke up to mimosas and a heartfelt journal full or questions and Henry's answers about me. It was the sweetest thing. One question specifically was, "What will you do with mommy when you get big?" Henry's answer, "I'll help her reach things" brought tears to my eyes. It's the sweetest thing and I guarantee he's right.
Also in May we took the boys to the Spirit Day Parade & Festival. Henry's school had breakfast, games and craft projects before the parade, and afterwards Henry got to ride some rides. It was crazy walking down those halls again after 15 years. Where did all the time go? Seriously...I feel like I'm going to be saying that for the rest of my life.
And as if that wasn't enough fun-filled action in May, we have two more events deserving honorable mention. On Memorial day weekend we took our first road trip with the boys to Madison, WI to visit Aunt Robin & Uncle Andy. We all had so much fun and Madison is beautiful. It reminds me a lot of Colorado in the summer (which is ironic because that's where Robin & Andy lived before). Anyway, we saw the Henry Vilas Zoo, walked the Square and saw the Capitol. Played at the piers by the student union, learned about Buckey Badger and just spent multiple nights on the Anderson's patio having a great time with family.
The next weekend we took another road trip with the boys (I know we are crazy) to Kansas City to see KB2. We saw the "Dinosaur Bone Museum," and went to the Deanna Rose Farmstead where Henry rode his first pony, mined for stones, fed goats and schooled everyone on catching fish. He was a pro! We were even lucky enough to get a night out on the town sans kids while Katy's parents babysat the boys. It was a great trip and there's still so much to see. I'm sure we'll be back very soon.
On to June! Father's Day! In the morning Greg opened special handmade present from both Max and Henry and he got some new clothes and a custom t-shirt from me. Then we were off for our day of surprises! First stop was the super sweet café in Wildwood called Sunny Street Café. There Greg ordered what brought me to choose it's destination, Banana Fosters Pancakes! We had a pretty hectic breakfast (note to self: Max is not ready for a booster seat. The child must be strapped down), but the food was great. We were fell of nutrients and ready to spend the next few hours at Six Flags. Greg was very excited. We got to squeeze in a pretty good number of rides before the kids started crashing. We even rode the log flume. Max was laughing uncontrollably while signing "more" and Henry was crying, but it was a great family experience. We finished the day off with a ride on the Ferris Wheel and Henry only hid his head on the way up. He was very brave.
If you made it through the entire post, congratulations! Hopefully I don't wait as long for the next post. This weekend is the 4th of July and my favorite holiday, I'm sure there will be lots to catch you up on.
