“You want me to tell her you can’t make it because you have to watch our dog? Yeah she’ll totally buy that, and not come knocking on the door minutes later.” He laughed as he set Fitz down and wrapped both of his arms around her, pressing soft kisses to her cheeks. “Plus we both know you’re just gonna disappear with my dad into the living room to watch sports and drink beer. Don’t act like you don’t want to hang out with your bff,” he teased, closing his eyes as he let the weight of the day fall off his shoulders. He had recently had two employees at the ice cream shop leave and he was just trying to make it all work out for them. “How was your day?”
Elsa bit her lip to hide the smile as he mused what would actually happen at the dinner. Family dinners. A concept so foreign to her and something she hadn’t ever imagined having to endure but truly she didn’t really hate it. Sitting back on the couch to drink a few beers and watch a game plus enjoying good home cooked wasn’t that bad. Plus hearing stories about Daniel from when he was younger was always enjoyable but maybe what she liked the most was feeling part of it even if she did try to drag her feet about having to go. The woman was quite confident but family and commitment were still issues she was insecure about and she did question - from time to time - if his parents truly liked her. “It was good, busy but I like it that way. Then Fitz was fucking cute as hell when I got home so I’d count it as a win.” Long gone were the days she’d hide herself away at night to answer calls for the phone sex line- she still bartended a couple of nights during the week but she finally was doing something she liked and was happy to spend her days under the hood of a car with her tools. “I’d say that its better now that you’re home but then I’d be stealing your lines,” she teased. “How was the shop?”
