Original Unedited Final Images
Final Images & Sequence
Storyboard: Image sequencing
Thinking about colour stories, chronological, common themes/motifs
Final Edited Images
Failed attempt, Rowan Sims vs Amateur (me) this was difficult to copy because of location, time and the surrounding boats, i tried to focus on my positioning relative to the boats, to get an angle where the white boat looks centred around the two red boats. I could do some editing to give a sunset effect and to make the mirrored reflection to emulate Rowans image more.
Photoshoot Beach
Orewa, playing around with aperture, depth of field, shutter speed. My main challenge was removing noise from my images, i went back to retake a couple after checking what they looked like on my laptop. I always keep my laptop in the car to process and check images quickly incase i need to retake more images.
Landscapes over northern motorway (orewa)
Playing around with aperture and shutter-speed for the long distance landscape with moving cars. This was difficult to tell what was working and what wasn’t until i had uploaded them to my laptop to have a better look.
Trent Ogilvie
Canadian Photographer
Doing research on Trent Ogilvie showed he is into more landscape & portrait combined sort of works, more action focused activities in picturesque landscapes. I like how he can work landscapes in a variety of ways and produce different feels for each, I’ve tried to pick both images that are relatable to my own intended final photographic series but also supports my quick analysis above.
Chris Gin
NZ Landscape Photographer
I like the vibrance in his Pohutukawa trees photo, i think the more research i do into photography i realise i prefer images that show more imperfections and are unique, and images showing a close/personal relationship between the photographer and whats being photographed rather than the perfect desktop background type of photo as much as they are beautiful. I like the rickety wood steps and the half submerges wooden poles
Rowan Sims
Landscape / Travel Photographer
The symmetry and the golden tones really draw my eye in, if i had more time i would plan more morning sunrise, evening sunset and dusk photoshoots i like the eerie feel. i would like to try recreate some of his works.
Change in Photographic angle:
I realised I needed to change locations from my final assessment as i had the same location for both assessment 1 and 2, so i have moved from the farm photos to a beach location (Orewa). Orewa is the beach i grew up closest to and holds a lot of fond memories, taking what I’ve learnt and practiced from my lockdown and farm photoshoots i will apply what i’ve learnt when photographing at the new location. With more research into beach landscape photographers
David Kerr
NZ Photographer
His images look like memories from the past which i like, while other images of his seem more timeless, i like how his images capture the raw and natural beauty

I like the intensity of these pieces, I think the black and white is very powerful for these shots and i like the way you can see all the detail in the driftwood. The warmth in the third image is very calming and peaceful.
Rach Stewart
NZ Photographer
I like the calming and soft effect that her photographs portray, it is something i would like to reflect in my own beach landscape photography. If i had more time i would’ve liked to have learned how to make the soft effect on waves using a longer shutter speed, I attempted to do so on my trip to Orewa beach but all my photos came out completely over exposed white, more research and experimenting was needed for me to achieve this.
Farm animals (fails and raw images)
honestly i was too excited that baby goats were in the neighbours paddock next door i forgot to adjust my camera settings and ended up over exposing the image.
