The voices are telling me to perform escalating acts of mercurial violence
Returning to Khorne after years away I’ve finished my mandated rereading of Angron: The Red Angel and starting my nth rereading of Betrayer and I think I’ve nailed down (heh) exactly why I like Khorne collectively, daemons, legion, and mortals all rather than just certain parts like how I like the Death Guard but hate Nurgle. I believe Khorne best clearly communicates one of the bigger themes about Chaos, self destruction.
Exhibit A. Angron. A popular statement I tend to see is that Angron and the World Eaters were a second pick to the golden child, Sanguinius. I call bullshit on this idea. EVERYBODY wanted Sanguinius because he was the perfect son of the Emperor and it would be that much more empowering if chaos managed to corrupt him, but people throw out Khorne specifically because it’s a perfect fit for the blood guy to get the vampire. And that’s fair, but Angron is the perfect embodiment of hatred. Hatred for his enemies, hatred for the Emperor, hatred for himself and his sons. Nuceria took what could have been the emotional anchor for the primarchs and the legions, maybe even humanity, and shattered it. All that is left is an elemental hatred for everything, which of course inherited by his sons.
Exhibit B. The 12th legion. Pre and Mid-heresy, I would say the strongest part about the World Eaters is their bonds to each other in brotherhood. They bind themselves to each other during training duels and also use it as a way to build rapport with other legions. All while they having an implant stabbing their brains if they’re not actively killing something; which they willingly had implanted so they could build a rapport with their dad. This did not work. Of course Post-heresy cohesion took a massive hit after being relatively held together until a certain somebody got a hold of a flamer during Skalathrax. Khârn the Betrayer. Nowadays there’s nothing left of bonds and brotherhood. Just blood.
Exhibit C. Khorne himself. I would say there’s certain levels to the amount of duplicity in being in a chaos cult. There’s being a follower of the literal god of lies, and then it’s down from there. Not that there aren’t individuals who follow Khorne that lie, that’s just a natural part of being in a chaos warband, but I do believe Khorne simply doesn’t have the room to lie about what he brings, and takes, from the table. Khorne is so hilariously transparent in what he needs from you, that he just tells you upfront what you have to give. Blood for the blood god. Skulls for the skull throne. All you need to give is control. The World Eaters are goaded from battle to battle, the Red Angel at the tip of the spear, no longer burdened by things like discipline and thought. Bloodshed for the sake of shedding blood. Every single instinct you have will be screaming for murder to a point that it’s physically painful. But ultimately, this is what you wanted. Strength.
TLDR: When it comes to following Khorne, there’s a point where it’s just your own fault, right? Like there’s an amount of manipulation that can go into following chaos, but Khorne is just so obvious that there has to be a point where you look at all that’s happening and go, “I could go back, but this will probably be fine for my well being.”
Anyway I just needed to put thoughts down going into Betrayer again. ARRRGABLRVRB I NEED TO KI-
🦋Daemon prince of Nurgle🦋
A fun fact about me starting this hobby is that among my first exposure to the setting is sitting in the passenger seat with my dad going on shopping trips while listening to 40K audiobooks. In particular, The Talon of Horus by Aaron Demski Bowden. From then on, I was absolutely hooked. Particularly on chaos. I liked Khayon so my first army was thousand sons, with assistance from my dad, but I didn’t really click with 8th edition’s psychic phase needing to cast for every single unit after all, they’re all wizards. So I dug deeper, and started digging through a few of the Horus Heresy novels, where I found another classic from good ol’ ADB by the title of Betrayer. If I was hooked before, I was gone now.
So here I am, back to my roots trying to run Khorne Daemonkin in an edition that seemingly isn’t gonna screw over melee armies as much as possible. Fun. Anyway, not to get too personal, but here’s a funny lil step by step I did for funsies, I like the scheme, won’t like repainting some of the stuff I already have.
Lemons covered in dirt
There are a few more models to finish for my 1000 points but I have been sidetracked yet again, as per the usual
Asking the army recruiter at the mall if he ever cut a man in half and calling him a pussy if he says no
Space marine/guardsmen dynamic a la Grimaldus and Andrej (Titus and Mira?) but it’s an imperial fist and a guardsmen standing on a wall and the guardsmen keeps attempting to shoot the shit but the fist is all blank and stoic so the guardsmen makes a final hailmary and offers him a lho stick (40K cigarette) and is like “Do you guys even smoke?” And that finally gets a reaction where the fist looks at him and it looks like he’s gonna give a curt no before hesitating and taking it.
And then he has to kneel down so the guardsmen can light it.
Is this anything?
I think so
Imagine the fist starts coughing like crazy after the first hit, some ork from the other side of the lines and starts talking shit
“HAHA!!! BEAKIE’S A LIGHTWEIGHT! BEAKIE’S A LIGHTWEIGHT!”
YOU
YOU SEE MY VISION
Been a hot minute since I got a good kitbash done so here’s the WIP on some gravis bladeguards I plan to paint as 30k huscarls. Apparently they’re still a thing in 40k but they’re less bodyguards and more correctional officers for imperial planetary governors. They fix fuck ups, basically.
Yellr
Tech marine! Made another using iron father Ferros but I need to build n paint more things too
What’s cooler than a super soldier in power armor?
A wizard super soldier in power armor.
First batch done, have an 1000 pointer that unfortunately does not contain 30 terminators so I’ll do some characters before the next round of termies
Oh yea also I got more

Trust me, chapter master; it is entirely necessary to commit a fifth of first company to this engagement.
“Next.”
I’m not dead this just keeps fucking happening to me I swear it’s not intentional. Fulgrim will be finished just at a later date, I promise. Something something new edition new me, idfk I’m just a terminator enthusiast. And there’s a lot terminators coming
