It's been almost two weeks since American McGee announced that he's getting back into making games...

...and I have one question for all of you: Are you sure this is the hero you want?

Don't get me wrong: I love the Alice franchise with all my heart. It brought me one of my favorite interpretations of my favorite Alice in Wonderland character ever and I have some very fond memories of it. However, its creator is a more than questionable person.

American McGee:

Has made promises in the past that he's failed to deliver on, including but not limited to more than two Alice: Otherlands shorts, OZombie, and continued crowd designing of his Plushie Dreadfuls.

Has lashed out at fans for politely correcting him on things like saying the r slur, joking about Alice "tentacle raping" an antagonist, and more recently the way he worded how the sales on his pansexual rabbit plush were "just a fad."

Continues to double down that his mistakes weren't mistakes instead of apologizing, complaining openly to all of his fans that he's being "bullied" and "harassed" when most of us just want him to take accountability.

Has stated that he will no longer be making any more LGBTQIA+ Plushie Dreadfuls after the ones the website has sold out, as stated here:

Now I hate to sound rude or ungrateful, but it's getting pretty annoying how the lot of you are quick to forget about all of this and jump to support him when he announces the mere possibility of a new game. Not even a new game in the Alice franchise, just a new Alice in Wonderland game with his Plushie Dreadfuls. I hope you realize that this isn't going to be what any of you wanted, should it come to fruition. It can't be anything like the Alice franchise we've come to know and love if American is gonna keep EA from frying his ass for copyright infringement. The characters can't be the same, the story can't follow Madness Returns', and the setting can't be the same. The stupid Alice bunny he has that holds the same exact Vorpal Blade as our Alice is probably gonna have to be changed.

What I'm saying is, if this game comes out, you're all gonna be disappointed and then American is going to get angry at all of you for having the audacity to be disappointed.

I know it sucks that the franchise hasn't been updated and the Asylum got canned by EA. I know it sucks to have no new content for years. But may I propose that instead of depending on a man known to hardly ever deliver and plays victim constantly, that you guys participate in the fandom? Create some fanart or fanfic, interact with Alice's narrative, discuss it beyond the fact that Asylum was cancelled. Interact with other fans and their fan content. Roleplay with each other. Let's make this an active fandom instead of sulking constantly and waiting for American McGee or EA to save us.
