2: These are technically a free-to-enter giveaways! The first entry is free, all you have to do is fill out the form. HOWEVER. There are bonus entries that can be made by sending money to the tip jar, (details on the Google form.) Every $5 = one bonus entry, so $40 = eight entries, etc. The more entries, the higher your chances, and the bigger surprise we can make this for him!
2.5: When sending money to the tip jar, please ONLY fill out the memo/message with your emoji(s) of choice. Smileys, hearts, confetti, what have you, but NO WORDS. So I know a lot of you can't stand Covid, this is your cue to look away
I have to get this out in the most immediate way that I know how.
On a personal level, Covid is showing that it is subsuming everything, in every way, and the people who keep putting this acknowledgement off are only hurting themselves.
I am suddenly getting reports from my network of friends being ill, people dying, situations shutting down and growing more dire.
It's happening all over, and not just the States, and the lack of coverage, understanding and just conversation about it is driving me up a wall.
The whole is shifting under this but to say so is to evoke fear.
I'm reminded of a book a once read, The Death of Ivan Ilyich. It's a complex story and a classic for a reason but the scene I always remember is when the protag goes out the stairs to see Ivan for the first time.
He meets a man coming out of Ivan's room and silently, the man gives him a look that says, 'so lucky that it's him in there and not us, huh?'
But of course, it's all going to be us, eventually, it's just talking about it or experiencing it in times of trouble is even harder than normally.
The US, like many countries, is currently experiencing and incredible outbreak.
We are in no way acting like it. Numb, and disassociated.
Trauma, everywhere I look.
It's really hard not to be cynical right now. Just, all the time, as a defense.
