Hugo was working at the DX, under one of the cars again doing whatever he needed. Music was blaring through a speaker as he hummed the tune. Soda and Steve were at the front talking with customers.

Hugo looked up and slid out from under the car as he heard Hugo call him cause griff was here. He didn’t know they were dating or anything just knew they were good friends.

“Hey man what’s up” she nodded while walking to the front counter, a toothpick between his teeth and grease staining his hands as well as his hair messy.

Griff looked up from the car magazine he’d been flipping through. He smiled when he saw Hugo and put it down, walking over to him.

“Hey, ba- man!” He said, catching himself quickly. He almost called Hugo ‘babe’ in front of Soda and Steve. That would have been pretty hard to explain..

Steve didn’t notice, thankfully (and neither did Soda). He leaned against the counter, quirking up an eyebrow. “The hell are you doin’ here, Conroy? It’s your day off.”

Griff only shrugged. “Just wanted to drop in and see you guys.” He looked at Hugo when he said it. He clearly wanted to see his boyfriend specifically, but he let Soda and Steve believe otherwise.

”yeah that’s fine, aint it? Let the guy breath” Hugo joked while giving soda and Steve a small shove that ment nothing. “Busy today?” Hu asked while lighting a cigarette.

he looked at griff a little longer than he should have before turning away and moving to sit on the counter next to soda.

“heard there’s another drag race coming up guys” Hugo said to everyone while taking a drag on his cigarette and letting the smoke drift from his nose. “Surely you guys go?.. easy cash.. lot of fun?” She shrugged. He winked at griff quickly, soda and Steve being oblivious to the fact.

Griff grinned. “Oh, you know I am!”

“So are we!” Soda slung an arm around Steve’s neck, pulling him close. “Finally got our car all fixed up, so we’re actually gonna be able to race!”

Griff’s smile widened. “Awesome!” He looked at Hugo. “You’re coming out with us, right? We need our cheerleader.” He teased, but the sweetness in his smile said otherwise. Hugo wasn’t Steve or Soda’s cheerleader. He was Griff’s cheerleader.

”yeah course” Hugo nodded while he continued to chew on his toothpick. “Maybe I’ll make a sign this time” he joked while hopping off the counter to grab an engine part in a cupboard for the car he was fixing. “Wanna help me with this car?..” he nodded at griff.

“I dunno what’s wrong with the engine .. been working on it for like 2 hours it’s pissing me off” Hugo grumbled while leaning over the hood.

Griff leaned against the car, looking inside the engine. “Customer tell you what exactly the problem was?”

”no, it was some jock soc. He ain’t even know just said the damn thing was smokin’ then walked out?” Hugo shook his head while looking at his tools. “I hate damns soc’s .. think they know everything man,” he muttered and started working on the car again.

Griff crossed his arms and shrugged. “Eh, I don’t know, I’ve met some that are pretty nice.”But that was only because Griff was a pretty difficult person to hate.

“I will say this, though, they do tend to be a little bit arrogant, even when they’re being nice.”

Griff looked around the garage. When he saw nobody was watching them, he moved to be behind Hugo and put his head on his shoulder, wrapping his arms loosely around his boyfriend’s waist, so as to not restrict his movement too much. “Sorry you gotta put up with this shit, babe.” He pressed a kiss to Hugo’s cheek.

Hugo sighed slightly but relaxed when his boyfriend hugged him. “Aint your fault” he leaned into griffs touch, glancing around the shop as well before turning around to face him and hugging him properly.

“I’ll figure out what’s wrong with the fucking car, it’s alright” he muttered into griffs shoulder while they hugged. “Your car need any fixing ? Might as well do it while I’m here. Or I’ll come by ur place later?” Hugo suggested with a small grin.

Griff returned the smile. “I mean.. My car’s fine, but you can still come over.”

”yeah alright” he nodded while pulling away from the hug and working on the car again. “Pass me the wrench?” He asked gently while already getting grease on his hands.

20 minutes later he gave up still not finding the problem, “this shit is broken, soda or Steve can deal with it” he huffed while wiping off his hands. “I what ya wanna do?” He asked griff while leaning an arm on his shoulder.

“jeez .. relax Hu I’m jokin’” Steve huffed with a small laugh before hugo rushed our and grabbed griffs arm “let’s leave” he said quickly as they walked out the open garage door.

Griff was quiet for a moment, looking down at his shoes. “My dad doesn’t know hardly anything about me. He’s pretty in and out of my life.” He said it quietly. But he looked up at Hugo like nothing was wrong not even a second later. The mask was back up. “I don’t think my mom’s onto us, though.”

Marvan stormed out of bucks place, the screen door hitting the wall. He had gotten into another fight and was kicked out, now drunk and pissed with a split lip and bruised knuckles.

He glanced to the side in the car park where his car was.. stumbling as he saw clay staring. “The fuck are you looking at kid?”

It's been a few days since miles snuck into jodie's bedroom; he'd vanished the next morning without a word and hadn't mentioned it since.

It's lunchtime at school and miles is waiting outside for jodie. he glances up at the sound of her voice. his expression drops as he sees her walking with another boy, a classmate undoubtedly but his jealousy flares.

Jodie was smiling and laughing as she continued to walk with Steven a boy from her English class. “Yeah I’ll catch you later” she smiled they parted ways, Jodie seeing miles she walked over holding her books. “Aint seen you in a couple days” she talked in a bored tone.

Miles simply hums, eyes still tracking after the guy. “You didnt exactly make an effort to reach out either.”

He nods in the direction Steven left. “Doesnt look like you missed me anyway.”

”I wasn’t flirting, we got put together for English studies?” She glanced back in the directed Steven walked.

“anyways I was busy.. and I called Bucks place once, said you weren't there” she stated “I don’t know where you are half the time unless you tell me”

“Because you never call my home phone. Believe or not, sweetheart, i have a life outside of hustling pool at the bar. I have a job. Ya coulda called the garage.”

”not my fault you never mentioned that.. did you?” She looked slightly confused but started walking to her locker. “You talk.. but not that much, you aint mentioned nothing bout your family”

“besides your Ma would be mad if you went home all beat up?” She paused “how’s your head?”

“What is there to say?” he snaps. “I got a mom and a little sister and i care about the too much to bring strangers home.”

He shrugs, leaning back against the locker. “Heads fine.”

”so I’m a stranger?..” she scoffed slightly at his words. “Don’t know if it’s just me? But normally I don’t go around kissing strangers” she glanced at him then continued putting her books away in her locker. she didn’t comment on his head.. wasn’t even close to thinking about that right now.

“and just so you know,” she closed her locker door “I told my parents about you, even though I had to deal with a lecture and screaming ..”

“what’s her name?.. how old is she, cause i got a cousin I look after sometimes shes only 10?”

"She's 12. Her name's Dani..." he scans the hall, spotting her at a locker with her friends. "HEY DANI. C'MERE." Her friends giggle and blush and Dani rolls her eyes, stomping over.

"You're so embarrassing. You only ever do shit when my friends are around."

Hugo was working at the DX, under one of the cars again doing whatever he needed. Music was blaring through a speaker as he hummed the tune. Soda and Steve were at the front talking with customers.

Hugo looked up and slid out from under the car as he heard Hugo call him cause griff was here. He didn’t know they were dating or anything just knew they were good friends.

“Hey man what’s up” she nodded while walking to the front counter, a toothpick between his teeth and grease staining his hands as well as his hair messy.

Griff looked up from the car magazine he’d been flipping through. He smiled when he saw Hugo and put it down, walking over to him.

“Hey, ba- man!” He said, catching himself quickly. He almost called Hugo ‘babe’ in front of Soda and Steve. That would have been pretty hard to explain..

Steve didn’t notice, thankfully (and neither did Soda). He leaned against the counter, quirking up an eyebrow. “The hell are you doin’ here, Conroy? It’s your day off.”

Griff only shrugged. “Just wanted to drop in and see you guys.” He looked at Hugo when he said it. He clearly wanted to see his boyfriend specifically, but he let Soda and Steve believe otherwise.

“I dunno what’s wrong with the engine .. been working on it for like 2 hours it’s pissing me off” Hugo grumbled while leaning over the hood.

Griff crossed his arms and shrugged. “Eh, I don’t know, I’ve met some that are pretty nice.”But that was only because Griff was a pretty difficult person to hate.

When he saw nobody was watching them, he moved to be behind Hugo and put his head on his shoulder, wrapping his arms loosely around his boyfriend’s waist, so as to not restrict his movement too much. “Sorry you gotta put up with this shit, babe.” He pressed a kiss to Hugo’s cheek.
