The Knightâs Wish
âTalking to yourself, soldier?â
Out came the koopa king himself from around a bush, intrigued as to why the koopatrol was alone, in the gardens, shouting to himself.
âSome troopas decided to stop my midday jog and complain about some faint yelling in the gardens, turns out youâre just making a speech.â
âI offer my sincere apologies your highness! I had no idea my speech making was causing problems; I am preparing myself for a speech I intend to give to my men this afternoon. Iâm the Kaptain of the Koopatrol you see, I know itâs hard to tell since we never say much and all look the same but I was the one you gave the position to some years ago. Itâs an honour to work under you! Praise be to King Bowser!â
The instant Bowser showed himself Karik immediately shot up from the ground and saluted the monarch with perfect precision. He spent a few hours practicing his salutes purely so he could demonstrate them at times like this. Koopatrol members had to be perfect at all times, as they were the ones often seen as the closest a commoner could ever hope to attain within the military. Being the Kaptain meant Karik had to be even more of a perfect soldier, anything less wouldnât suffice.
âI should go somewhere else to do this shouldnât I sire? The royal garden isnât exactly the best place to practice speeches. Iâm rather fond of this place thoughâŠâ
âWell, I had assumed the worstâ he proclaimed. âI thought maybe one of those mustachioed losers, or some unknown assailant had waltzed right in and started causing a ruckus.â
âYou might be better off somewhere else. But before you go...â Bowser quickly folded his arms, planting his feet firmly on the ground. âI wanna hear it.â
