ooc; inactivity
Hey guys! I want to apologize for my lack of posting as of late and let you guys know that I’m still alive, but chances are that you won’t see too much here for a couple days. I’ve got some IRL stuff going on right now, mainly centering around starting college next week. (On the 22nd, same day the new GF episode comes out. Talk about a cruel world!) Anyway, I don’t want to officially declare a hiatus or anything, because I really don’t think there will be one. It’ll mainly depend on my energy and lately it hasn’t been so good. I may post but it’ll be sparingly. I’ll let you guys know as soon as things cool off- - hopefully it won’t be more than a week or so! Love you guys!!!
"Yes, the Dream Kingdom!" she answered as she was certain the other finished. She decided to inform the other about it even though the other didn’t ask. "It’s a kingdom that only exists in the dream dimension, which I have almost complete control over. In case it somehow isn’t obvious, one can only access it through their dreams, and only if I invite them. I mean, it’s possible to open a portal to the dream dimension, however it’s not advised, plus to open a portal directly to my kingdom in specific is very unlikely."
"Anyways, the garden it open to outsiders? I will have to take a look then, if it’s anywhere nice as lovely as this kingdom itself it would be worth it. Also what’s this about kiwi birds? I don’t believe I’ve ever seen one in person, only photos from old books! Would it perhaps be possible for me to see them hatching, or are they in a restricted place?"
"Well, I'll be," the prince had quietly mused, trying to imagine what this 'dream kingdom' must look like. The Kiwi Prince didn't necessarily dream often - or, he couldn't recall them very frequently, at any rate - so it was a little hard to picture much of anything. In his mind he supposed he envisioned a lot of clouds and stars, but that was about it, and he wasn't really sure why. He had the strong desire to question her further about her home, as he was highly doubtful he'd ever get the chance to see it, but he soon found the topic shifting and he pushed the inquiry down, saving it for later. Just as well, too, as his eyes lit up at the mention of his feathery garden companions. "Why, yes, the garden is almost always open to visitors! I'd be happy to take you there to see if any of the birds have hatched! They're all around the area.. in fact, some of the gardeners grow frustrated and try to shoo them away, but they just keep coming back. They tend to nibble the flowers and et cetera," he explained thoughtfully, "But I've always seen them more as.. pets than pests. "Oh, I'm not so sure if they're the same as their ancestors that once roamed about. But they're still delightful! This way, if you'd like to see," Heysen said, quite enthused, gesturing for the girl to follow him as he began to walk slowly across the gravel. "Perhaps you can tell me a bit about your home while I show you bits of mine. I must say, I hadn't known the 'dream dimension'... well, existed! It sounds marvelous! Do you actually have citizens who live there with you?"
"No need to apologize, I’d be in a terrible mood to if someone ate my hair! I’m just sorry it’s because of me. Well, not me me, but… you know what I mean. Alternate realities are weird.”
"Well… for what its worth, at least you look good with short hair too!"
"Truth be told, I'm not so sure I understand 'alternate realities' myself. I've been trying not to question it, but it can be... well, understandably difficult to ignore. Though I'm fairly certain I trust you not to try and EAT my hair. Goodness.
"O-oh! Do you think so? Well. I... I suppose it can't be that bad, then! I mean, thank you!"
theundeniablecatduke:
"Why to make your acquaintance of course! Being a representative of the Cat Kingdom, I am making it my duty to allow myself utmost familiarity with Ooo’s royalty!" The duke then thought it to be a good opportunity to strike up a conversation. And do forgive me if I have arrived at an inopportune time but I simply couldn’t hold back my curiosity! Now is your entire kingdom kiwi or does it consist of other kinds of fruit?”
"Ah, I see! Well, it's wonderful to meet you! I do hope that you depart from my kingdom with plenty of nice things to say about your visit." The prince hadn't anticipated being pulled right into casual conversation, but he adjusted quickly enough, smile almost crooked as he rubbed his chin with his good hand. Not an unusual question, in fact, one he received quite often, but he certainly put on a show to make it look as though he had to really think about an answer. "Well," he began thoughtfully, "I'm afraid that we are, in fact, mainly known for our kiwi. If you're interested in other types of fruit, I'd want to consult the Wildberry Kingdom." He mentioned the other land as if it were some bitter taste he couldn't quite get off his tongue, but seemed eager to continue on almost immediately, lowering his hand to rest on his side. "And what about your home? Is it made up entirely of... cats?"
- Roses, white tulips, and geraniums for the flower game! Girls totes dig flowers, right? -
“Oh my gosh! thanks kiwi! there- really pretty!”
"A-ah.. ahem! I'm glad! Very - very glad! That you enjoy them! I'm.. I'm not much of an expert on the matter.. But.."

"O-oh, ah - - thank you! I.. I think? I can't say I'm much of a fan personally. I enjoy letting my hair grow out a bit in the winter! But, fortunately, it's growing back in alright. I suppose I'll just have to wear hats to keep warm for a little while!"
It was almost no challenge to take over the Kiwi Kingdom — almost child’s play, even. It made it difficult to decide if the Queen and her army were becoming stronger at an increased rate, or if this Kingdom really was so weak. Most of the royal family and nobility had run off at the first mention that they weren’t going to defeat the Queen or her troops, and to her amusement, abandoned their people entirely.
Those that weren’t lucky enough to join their nobles in escaping were rounded up in cages, their emotions fed upon by the troops, who’s bodies morphed and twitched with the power that coursed through them.
The Queen had bigger fish, however. There were whisperings that the young prince still lingered, that he hadn’t joined his family in the scrambling. It gave some of his people hope, some sense that perhaps they could fight back. And that simply wouldn’t do, would it?
She met no resistance as she strolled through the palace gardens, tapping the wand against the palm of her clawed hand. Smile spread wide, she could sense one, single soul hiding amongst the plants — surely it would be this prince she’d caught wind of.
"Now now, no sense hiding," she chimed, chuckling darkly. "I can t̩͔̹̺͖̖̟a͇̪̰͓̥̮̰s͔͔̳̝̭̥t̤͉͍͎ͅe҉̣̣̘͇ you, little prince…and you taste like fear…”
It was difficult, if not impossible, to determine which direction the ghastly voice was emanating from, as it seemed to bubble up from the shadows themselves and echo around the still night. It was near enough to petrify the poor prince; he didn't know how to deal with intruders, he didn't know how to fight. Barely could the young man even work his legs now. At last, however, he did manage, slowly and cautiously creeping his way along the edge of the greenery surrounding him. His skin had long grown cold and clammy and he was ever fearful that he would choose the wrong direction, that he would end up bumping right into what- ever dark creature was waiting for him, hunting him, taunting... He froze when fingertips grazed something wooden behind him, and he nearly made a noise, but realized soon enough that he had only come across one of several sheds spread throughout the garden, covered in vines and leaves. Heysen held his breath and stood silently, listening, before he grasped the doorknob and twisted it. The door opened soundlessly and he was swift to enter, closing the door back behind him and sliding down to sit under the window. He pressed himself as close to the wooden door as physically possible, lest he be seen in the moonlit darkness, unable to stop his body from quivering violently. This was madness! Small puffs of air rapidly rose from the boy's lips in the chilled shed and, though he was fearful to move, his eyes flicked around desperately for something he may be able to use to his advantage, need be. Tools were scattered about but none quite within reach, if he didn't want to risk drawing attention to himself. In a pinch, if he had to move, maybe they would do, but glob did he hope it wouldn't come to that.

Kage pulled away, raising a shoulder shyly and letting go of kiwi, she had done it. she had achaly kissed him. sadly he seemed to have been reduced into a stuttering quivering stage. “You alright?” she questioned, her cheeks flushing a deeper pink as she reached out o touch his shoulder. maybe she had moved too quickly? why had she kissed him in the first place? was she stupid, she had probably just freaked him out. oh well too late to go back now.
“Kiwi, I would never feed you a potion again, I was just…no, I mean. you got mad before and I felt bad and junk.”
Kage was showing more of her shy side then she wanted too. she bit on her lip. “So…do you…like me back?” she questioned. she felt the only way she was going to get an answer was to be straight forward. “I-I mean you don’t have to answer yet! o-or anything! I just was um- asking and- don’t feel pressured! ” she squeaked out and fidgeted with her bangs. “I-I can leave now if you want- or um….”
"W-well... I.. I don't imagine anyone would be too happy, had they b-been in my.. unique position," the prince replied, nervous, but with a rather teasing undertone - he tried to make it like a joke, at any rate, but heavens know Heysen was not quite the epitome of comedy, and he only really ended up sputtering and giving this barking little laugh that came out mostly as uncomfortable. Only afterwords did he seem to realize how odd he must have sounded and he was swift to drop his gaze, running trembling, clammy fingers into his palm and tightening his hand into a fist. After everything, after all he had been through, who would have known he'd get so very anxious over some ridiculous thing like this? And there it was, the dreaded question. Oh, how the young man wished implications had been enough! Kageka was certainly correct with her thinking, however, as being straightforward was truly the best way to get an answer from the boy who so often preferred tiptoeing around undesirable subjects. Now, he really didn't have a way out of it, and he was left shifting and sweating and trying to stutter out a response. Just one word, that was all he needed, damn him for being so long-winded and damn him for not having the courage to speak his mind, but any longer and poor Kage would surely think the worst and then he would never be presented with another chance to say - - "Y-yes," Heysen finally spat out, a little too loudly and obviously forced, but, really, it wouldn't have come out at all if he hadn't made himself say it. After speaking he immediately paused, as if expecting some sort of backlash, but when it doesn't come he was quick to try and continue on, voice soft and shaky and edgy. "I-I mean.. I think I.." He gestured rather frantically with his good hand. "I've n-never... L-like.. It's ju-just, y-y- - you'r-re- - Ugh!" The poor prince's blush had spread up to his ears, though it had transitioned from embarrassed to angry, terribly frustrated with himself for being physically unable to express his thoughts into words - he couldn't figure out quite what to say to begin with, let alone actually speak it aloud with this insufferable stutter ruining the moment! The young man was simply so irritated with him- self that he felt a lump rising in his throat and he uttered a curse under his breath, head bowed in shame to avoid meeting her gaze, lest he do something really embarrassing. How he'd never be able to forgive himself if he actually started bawling. No, no. He may not be able to speak, but he wouldn't let himself do that. He only gently reached to take Kage's wrist again, slowly gathering the nerve to hold her hand. Once he could do that, he dared to murmur the quietest little apology. Glob, why couldn't anything ever go the way he'd like it to?

“What in the world- - Hello? Where is everybody?” His voice carried through the garden but was met only with silence - an utter, absolute, dead silence that made his stomach drop and his heart race. Not even a breeze stirred the greenery, tall vine walls casting inky shadows even the moonlight could not illuminate, and the air felt thick and cold and sent shivers rippling down his spine. The prince rubbed his arms stiffly, chilled to the very bone, thin, striped nightwear hardly enough to protect him whatsoever from the crisp temperature. Surely no sane individual would choose to be out during such late, chilly hours, but that was just the problem. If it was anything but an ideal time to be stirring, then why had Heysen awoken to an empty castle? Something was wrong. Very, very wrong. If those few residing inside the palace had caught wind of imminent danger, would they have sent warning to the prince? Of course not. More than likely, the King and high advisers had locked themselves away somewhere at the first sign of danger. But Heysen didn’t know that. He only proceeded to wander through the garden, voice gradually becoming quieter and quieter as his calls went unacknowledged. Where in Ooo had all of his guards gone? Always had there been a handful stationed around the palace, but now, not a soul rushed to the young man’s aid. Frightened and freezing, the kiwifruit boy had just about enough of this - whatever this was. He couldn’t dare hope it to all be a nightmare. He only hoped that he had missed out on something important, something that required need of the staff and was that smoke coiling into the sky, or was he simply delirious from exhaustion? The prince had to stop, squinting up into the dark. Was something going on out of palace walls? No, no, no good. He had to get dressed and head out, figure out what was wrong with his home - - That’s when he heard the voice. It slithered from the shadows around him like fog, panic and fear rising like bile in his throat. Heysen’s immediate reaction was to press himself against the bushes, shuddering, trying to make himself small in the shade of the looming greenery. He couldn’t find his voice even if he’d had the courage to, and it was all he could do to simply stay upright on weak legs, gaze darting about to find whatever had made its presence known in his domain. Soldiers, soldiers had to come, surely they’d come, wouldn’t they? He could sure pray for it all he’d like, but today did not seem like it would be the prince’s lucky day.
