“My beautiful liar You are drowning In your fear You’re cutting into me You think if I bleed It can save you.” —In This Moment’s “Lost at Sea” I apologize for my long absence; I have been working through what I thought was a positive situation, but what actually turned out to be nothing more than a setup for me to be victimized again. I have just about given up on dating. I have begun the healing process, and do not want to discuss the details of what happened with everyone, however, what follows needs to be said. I am done being traumatized, victimized, and abused by insecure, narcissistic, self-centered sociopaths who use being a victim as a trope to gain sympathy from me while never showing respect for me and what I’ve been through. I am done being lured in by serial liars who then attempt to gaslight me without ever caring how traumatizing that is for someone, like me, who actually has PTSD. I will no longer go out of my way for people who never appreciate my efforts. I will no longer tolerate being taken advantage of and/or taken for granted. I will no longer tolerate disrespect from people who believe they can walk all over me, just because they think they know my business partner. First of all, that’s sexist, and second: just because you have shown up at the table a couple of times does not mean you even remotely know what either of us goes through for our business. That’s right, OUR business. I’m his partner, not his employee. These types of people will be removed from our lives as thoroughly as a surgeon removing cancer, because that’s exactly what they are; they are tumors that cause nothing but pain and misery, and we’re much healthier without them.
