I got more copics yesterday, so obviously I needed to do another doodle.
So seeing as I was looking up Zine stuff and saw that they can be short comics, I got inspired. So I thought I’d just share the cover I came up with for a story about the stone giants that exist in the world of The LieBrary.
I don’t know if I’d aim to print it or not, but I’m definitely going to compile it into a PDF just for me. And then maybe I’d share the complete, finished project? I don’t know, I just went ‘Imma do this’. Mainly for the art goals and stuff, and wanting to draw variations of the stone giants.
More LieBrary drawings, but I need to tweak the design around further to match what’s in my head.
The Deep Worker is a representation of the subconscious, so they can take any appearance, but they always have something relating to writing involved in their accessories or character design.
Occasionally, my sketchbook has more notes on a page than actual sketches. Especially when I suddenly start doing fancy lettering.
But yeah! In the upper left corner, a potential Senator/Commander Shockwave picture inspired by 32 by Carpark North, and Hold Your Colour by Pendulum. And then the rest of the page is creatures/characters for The LieBrary. These ones residing inside the LieBrary, instead of outside of it.

I was experimenting with this new iPad art app I discovered called Inkist (currently free), and man…. I have no idea how to resize stuff in there, which is okay, but it made certain things difficult. I couldn’t find any sort of in-app tutorial for how it works, but it DID open up opportunities for extensive fiddling around. Also, you only have three layers (foreground, midground, background), and the blur tool can be a bit tricky (from what I’ve found). I’d definitely recommend it for some fun experimenting, though.
And the Librarian seems to be my go-to character at the moment for figuring out new art apps.
I was experimenting with the Inkpad app (which, after awhile, got laggy) and I have come to the conclusion that it was pretty fun to work with, and I’ve got to figure it out.
Some sketches of Arkelo and the Librarian, now that I’ve figured out their heights (4’2” and 14’5”). I’m looking forward to finishing the Prologue of the comic and starting up the story proper.
Some more LieBrary sketches while getting used to my tablet again. A random Amplete and Rodilga.
And… more sketches happened. They were quite fun to do, and set a few things straight in my head.
It also helped me realize that I’ve got some really interesting ideas for the Rodilga. And the Librarian, seeing as that’s their race. Please note that out of these races, only two don’t use different gendered (or engendered) pronouns interchangeably.
This is what happens when the laptop actually works for my graphics tablet, and I crack out the tablet for the first time in actual years. Two or three or something…? Anyway, have some LieBrary sketches done in GIMP while messing around. Ampletes, the weird floating crystal heads who I haven’t yet named, and then those people with… Four horns. Or do the cheek ones count as tusks? I currently have no clue.
