This is so interesting! Im excited to do more!
Long time no blog! Happy to share that I will be doing my first vending event in NYC! I'll be slanging that good vintage this Sunday in Harlem at the Sweet Spot Festival. Come check me out!
This Saturday come check me out with that GOOD vintage!
Vintage Pickings: Yassss!!! *vogues*. Please and thank you vintage universe for blessing me with ANOTHER one of these beauties. Yes, this is the second one of these that I've found. Posted about the first one HERE, this past September. I've been researching to find out a bit more about these, but I'm still leaning towards 60s Egyptian Revival. I don't believe the face is lucite, but I do know it's dope...and that works.
Thelma's moving and it only makes sense that she have a moving sale! Almost EVERYTHING on the site marked down 50% or more. As soon as I clear most of that stuff off, I can add all the new fabgagworthiness that I've found. SHOP NOW! www.etsy.com/shop/Thelmasvintage
Things I Wonder When Thrifting...
When did African and Indian traditional clothing and graduation gowns become vintage? Would it be too much to make small sections called "ethnic clothing" and "scholastic stylings" respectively? I don't think so. Maybe they should just change the whole section to "miscellaneous". That would actually be accurate.
Vintage Pickings: I love this little number because it looks like two other shirts I used to have in my possession had a love child and made this shirt! Sheer sleeves, lurex, and sequin!?!? Let me tell you that it was destiny that I found this!
Vintage Pickings: A friend and client of mine mentioned that she was looking for a floor length sequin evening coat the other day and I literally flipped because I had just seen one that very day and for some foolish reason [read] and for budgetary reasons, I did not cop it. Today, I decide to go picking a find one even BETTER than before! BRAP! All sheer! Isn't the color killer?!?!?
Vintage Pickings: Perhaps I could do without another sequin piece, but honestly why not let my light and clothes shine? Or better yet, why not give you all additional opportunities to add some bling to your wardrobe?!? Stumbled on this lovely jacket during a random visit to Unique Thrift Store. Definitely from the 1980s, but the graphics are very Art Deco inspired. LOVE IT!
Vintage Pickings: Vintage ladies cigarette case. Marked Stratton. Made in England. I'm all for a little vintage knick knack that I can repurpose into something practical for my everyday life. One of my favorite repurposings is using vintage cigarette cases as card holders. Stylish, sleek and secure!
Vintage Pickings: Gorgeous golden floral ear climbers. Rhinestone and pearl embellishments make them ultimately feminine!
Vintage Pickings: Excuse me while a guffaw! How absolutely fab are these two pieces!? The design and engraving are uber unique! The silver tone is an actual purse very similar to one auctioned off with Elizabeth Taylor's estate and then a small bronze mini purse necklace. Both lined with a gorgeous indigo velvet!
Vintage Pickings: How ladylike! Bellstone authentic alligator frame purse with feet! So classic. Missing a small chunk of gator on the handle, but that can easily be repaired or covered when holding the bag.
A few pieces added to the site! www.thelmasvanity.etsy.com
Be still me entire soul!!! The Reginald F. Lewis Museum in Baltimore is having an exhibit on black dandyism and the black male identity from January 29, 2012 - May 13, 2012. Can't wait to check this out! Some other cool exhibits to bee seen in house as well!
