When she was greeted by a smiling face, Audrey couldn’t help but break into a grin. “ Hi there! My break was pretty nice, thanks for asking. Though it’s kinda nice to be back. How was yours?”

“I’m glad! Mine was great too.” Lola was grinning, happy to have a positive response.

cheery. morgan’s first thought was that this girl was cheery. there was nothing wrong with that; the girl deserved her happiness, after all. but it was hard not to snap when morgan felt nothing but grumpy. she’d just gotten back from a few weeks at her foster parents’ place, with her perfect foster siblings and their inability to remember morgan existed. when they did remember, the only reaction she got from any of them was a sort of patronising care. they thought she was useless, and morgan didn’t disagree.

“mediocre at best,” morgan shrugged, keeping her voice matter-of-fact in an attempt not to be a complete grinch. “got to get some art done, which was nice i guess.”

Lola pouted a little. “I’m sorry.” But she cheered up again at the mention of art. “Really?! I love art! May I see some?!”

“uh—” right. emma had said he didn’t need to go blabbing. gotta keep stuff a secret from people she didn’t approve of. the brunette scratched the back of his head, smiling broadly instead. “i saw a lot of cities! it was really nice! i think i like my dorm better than the hotels we stayed at, though…”

“Really?! Where did you go?!” Lola had been to a lot of places in her life, so she thought she would be able to relate with the boy.
