Totally Spies || Lucas & Derreck
If Naveen was extremely enthusiastic about the whole thing, his excitement rose a notch higher at the thought of going through a portal. It was his first time and he felt all his cockiness vanish and turn into childlike wonder. He nodded slowly, mouth agape as he witnessed a smirk play on the lad’s lips. “Hell yeah!”
His big brown eyes widened further when the portal materialized in front of his eyes from merely a wave of the boy’s hand. “Damn,” he whispered under his breath, thoughts running through burning through his head like wildfire. He stared at the water-like material before turning to Lucas, not even paying attention to his words. He swallowed anxiously and took the boy’s hand (in a manly way, of course) and closed his eyes tightly as he stepped into the ingress, not knowing what to expect.
Derreck felt like he was floating slowly and he let go of his companion’s hold, slowly taking in his surroundings. It seemed like the world was in fast forward, and there were different incoherent patterns and figures he couldn’t exactly make out. And then he felt a dip, like the one he experienced when a roller coaster abruptly descended into his doom. A strong force pushed him forward, faster and faster, as if he really was on an amusement park ride. “What the fuck!” he yelled, unfamiliar with the sensations going on around him and he shut his eyes again as a coil formed in his stomach.
And right when he thought he was going to hurl his breakfast, it all stopped and his surroundings gradually became clearer. Before he could even comprehend the setting, he groaned and held his head, “Man, it’s like a really really bad hangover.” He looked around and noticed they were cooped up in a stall in the men’s bathroom. He wanted to applaud the lad but decided against it thinking there were other people present. “Ah, I like the way you think, Lucas. Yes, blend in and pretend like we’re a couple.” He unlocked the door and sent him a teasing wink. “Come on now, love. We’ll continue this at home later.”
Lucas smirked at the fae’s childlike wonder when he saw the portal. ‘He won’t be smiling for long’ Lucas thought as he pulled the fae towards him and into the portal. The feeling of walking into a portal is like plunging into water. You feel your entire body being encased by an invisible force, almost like falling, and the closer you get to your destination, the more intense the feeling. The inside of a portal is somewhat similar to a tunnel. It is full of swirling patterns and different hues of blue and it can sometimes cause dizziness since it provides the same effect of going on a carousel at full speed.
Lucas found amusement in the expression of his partner. The fae was a bit green, and his face was contorted in discomfort. Oddly enough, it reminded him of the first time he ever went through a portal. Each warlock, had their own version of a portal or they added their own special touches to personalize it. They could alter its color, patterns, hell they could even add in some elevator music if they wanted to. The first time Lucas made a portal was not exactly a treasured memory. His portal had been unstable then, transporting him into his neighbor’s bedroom. The shadowhunter was not pleased and she ended up contacting his mother. Nevertheless, Lucas continued to practice for the years that came and one aspect of his portal that never changed was what he called the roller coaster drop.
"I see you're still in one piece." Lucas mumbled, his cheek pressed against the bathroom stall. This wasn't the place he had in mind when he thought restaurant but it'll have to do. "A hangover? But wasn't that thrilling?" He mused. "Some warlocks prefer to make their portals calmer but where's the fun in that right? It was just like a roller coaster ride and I even added in an extra loop just for you."
Lucas took a moment to look into the bathroom mirror and fix his disbelieved appearance. He walked out of the door first, but not before loosening a floorboard that may or may not make the fae trip. "Be a couple my ass." He immediately sauntered towards a vacant table, taking a seat and calling a waitress.
