💪🏼 I came home from an after-work meal with a colleague, only to discover I hadn’t filled all my Apple Fitness rings. A quick change later and I was downstairs in the gym, on the elliptical trainer, for a quick 30mins workout.

I know. I don’t recognise me either.

🍜 Tonight’s meal: a delicious bowl of spicy chicken ramen, courtesy of my other half. Every mouthful a delight.

📸 Had a quick wander through some of the installations making up this year’s Canary Wharf Winter Lights on my way home from work. Looking forward to doing the tour properly one evening, but these illuminated figures caught my eye this time.

🚶🏼 Made it out to the park for a walk during my lunch break. No news, no politics, just the sweet sounds of the ‘Upgrade’ podcast and a 4km walk around the neighbourhood.

🚨 Just went through the news apps on my devices and turned off all notifications.

They’ve all lowered the bar for ‘breaking news’ to such an extent that it’s lost all meaning. And I don’t want an endless stream of fash-related updates while I’m trying to get on with my life. Long overdue.

Dear European journalists and politicians, get the fuck off ‘X’. You have literally no excuse for supporting his nazi platform. You’re debasing yourselves by refusing to take a stand.

Fuck me. We’re not even through the first day of this shit show and we’ve got billionaires doing multiple nazi salutes on live TV. Watch for the apologists saying he doesn’t understand or it was an accident. He knows. They all know. They’re saluting all the other nazis that voted for them.

📸 And now something to cleanse my timeline: the view from here this evening. Just standing watching this for a few minutes each evening relaxes me completely.

💪🏼 I think going to the gym, instead of tuning in to the ‘coronation’ of the robber baron in the USA, was the best thing I could do for my mental health this evening.

I’ll unintentionally encounter his grimacing, orange face and flapping lips countless times in the next four years. There’s no need to do it on purpose on day one.

Just back from the gym, where I watched a BBC drama about the SAS fighting fascists in North Africa during WWII while on the elliptical.

Couldn’t help wondering what they’d make of the shower of wannabes and ‘both sides’ nazi apologists cosplaying at government in Washington today.

I’m braced for impact and thinking about how I’ll maintain my sanity over the next four years of inevitable orange racist insanity.

🍸 Popped into Soho to have dinner with friends visiting from Singapore. I’m still sticking to `Dry January', so had an alcohol-free cocktail before eating. A beautiful mix of AF gin, hibiscus syrup and citrus tonic. Finished before I remembered to snap a pic. Here’s the bar instead.

🏃🏼 This morning’s run by the river. I’m slowly picking up my average pace at the 5km distance and it feels good.

💪🏼 So… a solid fifteen days of exercising and filling my Apple Fitness rings daily. I’ve lost a little weight, sleep much better and I’m finally catching up on all those TV shows I seemed to have missed recently. All thanks to the elliptical trainer in my building’s gym.
