Guys! The time has come…I am retiring themadeye after nearly 8 years of being on this site. I have created a new blog which is centered around my writing and my daily updates. 

According to this blog I have over 400 followers yet no activity on any of my posts, which leads me to believe there is a vast majority of my followers who are no longer active. In order to gauge better the amount of people who are interacting with my posts, I have decided to create a new account, which you can follow here!

There are a lot of people on this account that I am mutual followers with, I beg of you to follow me on my new account (you can totally unfollow this one if you so wish) and I will be prompt in following you back. I’d love to keep in contact with my mutuals and I can’t possibly go through all of my followers and find you all again.

Mornings.

November is cold and dark in London, but makes me very motivated. Today I am working on all my projects including this new blog that I have created (say goodbye to themadeye), and my own writing. Soon you’ll be seeing a book review section up on samanthascomposition! Make sure you go ahead and follow that blog as well, as that consists of all my traveling and what I’m up to, whereas this blog tells you what I’m writing.

Little positive reminders to keep myself going on busy blogging and writing days. I spent the entire day mapping out the story arc in my novel and doing some locational research. On top of that, it was a blog day, so look out for a post later this week. If you want to stay up to date with my latest travel blog posts where I sum up what I’ve done that week (as I’m currently living in another country about every month at the moment), you can take a look and follow it here! Up next week on the blog, I’ve decided to start reviewing the books I read and how they help me with my own writing. This space was very productive for me indeed.

A Light in October (on the blog!)

It has been a month since I left the States and October is finally nearing an end. It is one of my favorite months of the year. October celebrates both my brother’s wedding anniversary and one of my very best friend’s birthday. In California, the weather is quite possibly the nicest this month. It is also the first month of the holiday season, starting with my favorite, Halloween, and after that there is a holiday tradition or outing nearly every week until the new year. It’s like a fun wrap up of the year that has passed, filled with candy, pies, and presents. This is my first October not struggling through midterms, and my first spent outside of the United States, so it is extra special this year for me. (Halloween is also on a Saturday, so if you’re in London, quick I need to make plans!) 

The weather has finally turned, most of the day was covered in a rain cloud and there was a chill in the wind. The leaves that were a vibrant array of fall colors have since been trodden to a brown pulp, and the trees will be bare for the next several months. And as today marks the beginning of Daylight Saving time in Europe, it makes another hour in time difference between me and my friends and family. It makes the space more and more apparent, and while I do miss my loved ones, I can’t say I have been struck with homesickness. I assure myself that this is where I want to be, and everyday there is something new to see and experience. It reminds me of why I have this blog: that I can share the things I experience with you, my shapeless reader. Keeping the homesickness at bay, advanced technology allows me to still speak with my parents, and message my friends. It makes the space feel a little smaller again, and for that I am lucky and thankful.

Suffragette of the 21st Century (by Samantha) This look was inspired by the great tips Cherry Dollface gives in this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDJLDW7aNvU&index=41&list=PL54724A5D3D3CA051)! She has great tutorials for vintage make up and hair and one of my favorite new discoveries on the fashion tutorial side of youtube. I love a good suffragette inspired look, and the silhouettes this winter, while heavily based in the 1970s still totally work for the 1910s to 1930s as well, which covers some of my favorite fashion moments. The shades of greys work well for this look, while the warmer shades of camels work for those more 1970s oriented trends. I'm particularly happy with how vintage this photo came out as well! #Minimal #1910s #1920s #1930s #Romantic
