as the new dean of ancient studies and arcane history, atticus wanted to make sure that the library had the newest editions that he'd be requiring for some additional research he planned on his students doing later on in the year. those editions came late last year, leading to his class schedule getting behind.
while this could have easily been a job for the librarian, the dean was diligent and things tended to go smoother when he made sure they were done himself. browsing through the historical section of the library, he brushed past a few of the older editions that were outdated. his order still wasn't there yet.
“have you seen a box of books around here?” he asked whoever was nearby. “arcana of mycenaean greece, 12th edition?”
landon stopped in his tracks at the question and turned silently on a heel. brown eyes, scrutinous, took a moment to focus and register who was before him.
as the realization struck, the ghost of a smile slowly glided across his lips. “mr. welby,” he greeted. “congratulations on your promotion. i do see …" he deliberately glanced at the many shelves around them, “a large number of books in this library.” a chuckle. “have you any idea where the box’s gone? perhaps i can ask a favor from the library ghosts to try and locate it. they can be a little bit shy, though." his smile returned.
then, with an oh, he extended a glove hand out. “forgot to formally introduce myself: landon katzenagen, dean of spectrology. i assume we'll be attending a few of the same meetings.”
