*A week and a half into South Africa*
Your tired eyes narrowed on the lamp resting on the wooden nightstand. You sat up midway from the comfort of your bed, stretching your arm with little effort towards the lamp. With a literal flip of a switch, darkness shaded your room tastefully only leaving the soft tones of blue illuminated that escaped through the curtains. You watched the curtains move ever so lightly from the warm breeze that graced your room
every now and then. You smiled to yourself as you reclined your spine into the softness of the mattress. Everything seemed to be perfect - he seemed to be perfect. Your eyes darted towards Micah, who was sleeping peacefully beside you. Delicately, you ran your fingertips across his jawline unknowingly still smiling to yourself. Reluctantly, you removed your fingers from his flesh and placed them on your cool pillow. You blinked repeatedly fighting the urge to close your heavy eyelids. For once, you didn’t long to dream. Everything you wanted was right in front of you.
“I don’t want this to end,” Micah breathed, with closed eyes.
Finally, he opened his eyes and greeted you with a faint smile.
“What? The trip? Isn’t your life like an everyday vacation? I’m sure you’ll be fine,” you joked, as you stared into his umber eyes.
“No, I mean you and me,” he answered, with softened eyes.
The corners of your mouth drew upward while you subconsciously chewed on your bottom lip. You raised your eyebrow cunningly before briefly turning away from him to grab your phone.
“So, I did a thing,” you responded utterly beaming.
“A thing? I’m intrigued,” he retorted, mimicking your expression.
“I always have songs that make me think about you. So I decided to make you a playlist,” you replied sweetly.
Micah’s eyes widened as he grinned foolishly.
“Come here,” he demanded.
You nodded before inching your body closer to his. Micah opened his arms inviting you to lay on his chest. You ran your hand across his torso before resting your cheek against his skin. The sound of his heartbeat was undeniably calming. You were too scared to admit it, but you didn’t want this to end either. Quietly, you placed one headphone in his ear and then placed the other in yours.
“Tell me what you think,” you whispered.
“Rock me real slowly
Put a bib on me
I’m just like a baby, drooling over you
The things you do
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh….”
You closed your eyes letting the soothing tunes of your playlist ascend you to another level of relaxation. You felt Micah’s fingers gently strum your back as he basked in the heartfelt tranquil melodies.
“What do you think?” you quizzed, unknowingly breaking him from the melodic trance you induced.
“I think I love you,” he thought to himself.
His lips were itching to tell you. But he was unsure if tonight was the right night. So, instead, he answered with a more appropriate truth.
“I think I will be bragging to all my niggas tomorrow. If your shorty don’t make you playlists you doing everything wrong,” he answered laughing loudly.
“Seriously, it’s beautiful,” he continued before planting a kiss on your forehead.
Slightly changing positions, you looked into Micah’s eyes giggling childishly. Slowly, the smile faded from your lips as you continued to study his appearance.
“What is it?” you quizzed.
“Nothing,” he fibbed.
“I’m sure it’s something,” you added, prying further.
“It’s nothing Charisma, I promise. Let’s get some sleep. I wanna be well-rested for when I do all my bragging tomorrow,” he answered while attacking your face with loving kisses.
Micah placed one final kiss on your lips that sent a chill trotting down your spine. You nodded in agreeance quietly allowing sleep to finally welcome you.
“Rock me real slowly
Put a bib on me
I’m just like a baby, drooling over you
The things you do
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh….”
——-
*The Next Day*
Micah placed his ink pen in the middle of his journal neatly before closing it. He reclined his spine into the cushioned chair exhaling dramatically. His bottom lip was comfortably wedged between his teeth as he unknowingly let his mind wander aimlessly. He quickly snapped back to reality when Leon entered his hotel room like an untamed explosion. Micah watched him throw his belongings all over the room carelessly.
“Wow, you’re organized,” Micah stated with a raised brow.
“Ha. Ha,” Leon responded with an unamused expression on his face.
“Nah, Nah. I dig it. You’re giving the room a musician vibe. I’m into it. I’ll be a rockstar for a day,” Micah added chuckling to himself.
“Man, just show me the new song you’re working on,” Leon proposed before falling into a spell of laughter.
Soon after, Micah opened his laptop and played the unfinished track. He nodded his head to the beat enjoying its melody and rhythmic flow. Leon squinted his eyes as he listened intently. Ever so often, he would nod along to the heavy bassline.
“Your opinion?” Micah quizzed, resting his elbows on the arms of the chair while interlocking his fingers.
“I like it. It’s definitely a hit,” he replied.
“But?” Micah questioned sensing there was more to be said.
“It’s a love song that’s all,” he added.
“I’m not following,” Micah stated.
“You’re in love,” Leon responded earnestly.
Before Micah could respond, his cell phone began to vibrate incessantly. He realized that it was an incoming call from his manager Chris. Micah answered the call while simultaneously closing his laptop. He pushed the office chair under the desk and swiftly walked towards the door.
“C’mon we have to get to the studio,” Micah stated while removing the phone from his ear.
Leon quickly grabbed his belongings and followed behind him.
“Yeah, Yeah. I’m still here,” Micah responded as he pressed the phone against his ear. Again, he felt his mind wandering elsewhere. Quickly, Chris’s chatter began to fade into white noise. As he traveled down the hallway of the hotel, he wondered if his feelings for you were that obvious. And if they were, he wondered if you could see them as clearly too.
——
*Later that day…*
“Got this money and a big ol’ place, I’ve been sitting pretty
Hit the town searching for ladies
Then I came across this sweet thing
Her beauty was glory
Wait, wait, wait, leave her alone
Don’t you break it
Don’t fall, you might not get up
That girl has an early hold on you
Early hold on you”
Your wandering eyes traveled Micah’s distinct features as you watched him parade tastefully back and forth on stage. He was standing tall in his custom-suited threads charming the audience with his many tricks. The crowd rocked together harmonically belting out his lyrics as if they were trying to serenade him as he traveled the familiar territory of each instrument on stage. The way he made each instrument bend to his will was almost sorcery-like. Unknowingly to you, your eyes widened in awe as you witnessed his talent ooze through his pores effortlessly. The energy was infectious. People chanted his name, waved handmade posters of admiration, and danced wildly with other strangers. You’ve never been to a concert so lively - so, blissful. You could feel the very bass pulsating underneath your feet.
“He is magical,” you thought to yourself silently.
Matter of fact, the last couple of days hanging out with Micah has been nothing shy of mystical. Each day held its own adventure while each night held its own fondness. You’ve learned so much about him in the short time that you’ve spent together - like where he grew up, how many siblings he has, and where he went to college. But the things you enjoyed most, were the smaller things, the subtle things that could easily become overlooked - like how his nostrils flare when he is in deep thought or how he rotates his pointer finger repeatedly when he struggles to remember something.
You loved the way that he viewed the world and you loved the way that he viewed you. You learned that Micah was a fearless being continually searching for new adventures to sprinkle his life with. It was utterly inspiring how he spoke of his passions. It was as if he ignited you - awakened you to move past yearning for your dreams. You decided to take the necessary steps to fulfill your own needs and to lean into chaotic bravery.
Your eyes squinted as you narrowed your camera lens to focus on Micah. It was only right to capture him his element - in his happiest state. You snapped the shot effortlessly. With great satisfaction, you lowered the camera from your face and scrolled through the camera roll. You squealed to yourself when you realized that you captured the perfect frame of him. Interrupting you from your private celebration, you felt your phone buzzing in your purse.
After retrieving the phone from your purse, you unlocked your phone and began reading.
“I need to talk to you. Answer your phone. It’s about the apartment.”
- Desmonde
Your eyes flickered towards the stage glowing with anxiety. What could Desmonde possibly want? Was your fairtytale coming to an end?
“Can’t nobody replicate this feeling
Got me feeling high, never low
I just want to say I really really really love you baby
Can’t nobody replicate this feeling
Got me feeling high, never low
I just want to say I really really really love you baby”

Lost & Found Pt. 8
Summary: You’re living a suffocating life and you finally find breath in Masego.
Author’s Note: Hi guysssss! I hope you guys are doing well! I’m sorry it took me so long to update! I hope you guys will enjoy this chapter! Please leave a comment for ya girl because I live for the commentary!!!!! I love you guys so much!!!!
No this isn’t a dream, a fantasy, or anything remotely make-believe. You were wedged between silk sheets laying queenly in a king-sized bed in South Africa. The subtle warmth of the sun’s light peaked through the lavish curtains of the hotel room and landed sweetly on your cheek as if it planted a kiss. You secretly smiled to yourself as you reminisced last night’s kiss and how it too, held its own warmth. The kiss was tender, melodic, and captivating - he was captivating. He was an otherworldly being casting quiet spells on you through lingering glances and soft touches. And oh, how you basked in every minute of it last night. As your smile widened, you pressed your knees to your stomach as you slid further into the sheets while pulling the weighted blanket over your face. You squealed like an immature school girl as you kicked your legs wildly on the firm mattress beneath you.
Soon after, two polite sounding knocks plagued your door causing your private celebration to come to an early end. You all but leaped out of bed while simultaneously grabbing your all-white robe as you speedily approached the door. You opened the door widely for the hotel attendant and greeted him kindly.
“Good morning,” you answered while casually resting your hand on the door.
“Good morning Ms. Charisma. I am requested to present you with this letter from the gentleman in room 444,” he responded while presenting you with an envelope.
“Thank you,” you replied shyly as you stared at the envelope with sheer curiosity.
“My pleasure,” he answered before bidding you a courteous goodbye.
You closed the door behind you and immediately opened the envelope. The letter was handwritten beautifully in black ink.
“The first thing I thought about when I woke up this morning was the sun’s light on your face. I know it was nothing shy of angelic. I just thought you should know that. Anyways lady, I hope you like breakfast …. Preferably with a nice view. See you in an hour.”
Sincerely yours,
Micah
——-
Unbeknownst to you, spectating eyes glanced over the twists, the turns, and the curves of your body as you entered the hotel’s lobby. Micah’s brows raised as his eyes widened behind the dark hue of his shades. Quietly, he thanked them for their secrecy. He inhaled gradually as he silently appreciated the swell of your hips and the spread of your thighs in your light blue jean shorts. You were effortlessly radiant, seamlessly tantalizing him in the most desirable ways. He loved your two neatly slicked down afro puffs, the vibrant colors of your tank top, and the gold jewelry that clung to your cinnamon-brown pigment.
Micah extended his hand towards you smiling slyly. You placed your palm in his willingly as he twirled you. He cocked his head to the side as he mischievously chewed on his bottom lip. Once you made your full circle, he grazed the top of your hand with his thumb before planting a kiss on it. He removed his sunglasses from the bridge of his nose and placed them in his pocket so he could stare into your eyes. Your eyes were his favorite thing about you.
Still holding hands with you, he smiled sweetly.
“And this is the part where I tell you how beautiful you look,” he narrated jokingly. “You look so beautiful,” he added.
“How do you always manage to say the right things?” you questioned beaming brightly as you nervously averted your eyes from his.
“It’s just me simply telling the truth,” he replied while shrugging nonchalantly. “And I’m going to say it again. Charisma, you are so beautiful,” he added.
It’s the way that he said it. He told you were beautiful as if it was only a mere truth or a simple fact. It wasn’t him trying to impress you, but rather him revealing your reflection through words and actions. Micah felt like a foreign fragrant newness inflating your lungs with things you never knew you needed.
“Thank you,” you breathed.
“You’re very welcome. Now lets get you something to eat,” he suggested.
——
You watched the busy streets from the passenger’s side of the car as upbeat music filled your eardrums pleasantly. You nodded your head to the bass of the melody as you snapped pictures with your barely functioning camera between stoplights. You wished every day could be like this. Sunny and easy with the warmth of the sun baking you gently as the wind dances in your hair freely. You lowered the camera from your face as you inhaled deeply silently appreciating this once-in-a-lifetime moment. Micah glanced over at you simpering at your elation.
“So, there’s about 15 more minutes left of this drive. Do you want to play a game in the meantime?” he quizzed, interrupting your private thoughts.
“I need to get my mind off how hungry I am,” he added as his eyes trailed your frame coyly.
“I can distract you,” you answered with inviting eyes.
Micah chuckled to himself as he adjusted his hands on the wheel before making his right turn.
“A question for a question?” he suggested with a raised brow.
“I like it! You go first,” you answered.
“Fair enough,” he nodded. “So, what sparked your interest in photography?” he asked as he single-handedly made another turn.
“Hmm,” you hummed as you smiled to yourself casually twiddling your thumbs. “My mom actually. She told me that I had an eye that saw beyond the surface of things and that it was a gift to be able to capture that on camera. I was always on and off with it, but she always pushed me towards my passions and I really appreciated her that. Before she passed away, she told me to do what I love and to live a full life. I’m just now taking her advice it seems.” you answered.
“I know she’s proud of you. It takes guts to live a full life and to do what you love,” Micah responded sincerely.
“Thank you,” you said softly.
“Ok, it’s my turn,” you stated. “Why do you hate being famous?” you quizzed.
“Ah! You remembered!” he yelled with wide eyes.
“Of course!” you laughed.
“It’s such a limited life for one thing. But mostly I hate being famous because of all the misconceptions that people have of me. I often think that people love the idea of me rather than me,” he confessed.
“The image?” you questioned.
“Exactly, the image. Sometimes being famous really messes with my head. And I really don’t like the mental places it takes me sometimes,” he admitted.
“How do you cope with it? If you don’t mind me asking,” you quizzed.
“Nah, I don’t mind at all. I honestly disappear and recenter myself with things that really matter and with people that truly matter.” Micah said.
“Alright, I have one final question,” he continued as he put the car into park.
“I have one final answer,” you joked.
“Are you scared of heights?” he asked.
“Extremely. I even get nervous on elevators sometimes,” you added while chuckling a bit.
“Hmm, ok,” he replied before he slid his keys into the pocket of his slacks. He exited the car and closed the door behind him. Quickly, he opened the passenger’s side door and reached for your hand like a gentleman. You placed your hand in his as you stood upright.
“What does that mean?” you exclaimed.
Micah teetered backward as a wave of laughter washed over him.
“Micah! I’m not playing with you,” you yelled as you poked him in the side aggressively.
“Just trust me,” he said as he smiled at you reassuringly.
“Fineeee,” you whined as you crossed your arms over your chest.
——
“Micah,” you whispered in disbelief as you placed your hands on the cold railing in front of you.
As your eyes lingered on the view in front of you, your hands quickly left the railing and found residence over your agape mouth. You gasped loudly as you admired the landscape. Your eyes have never witnessed anything so beautiful and so pure.
“So, what do you think?” he asked lowly.
“I-It’s - This is amazing,” you answered in astonishment.
“All of this for breakfast?” you quizzed now meeting his gaze.
“No, all of this is for you,” he retorted calmly.
As you gazed into his eyes, you thought quietly to yourself.
“No this isn’t a dream, a fantasy, or anything remotely make-believe. This is your life.”

Lost & Found Pt. 7
Summary: You’re living a suffocating life and you finally find breath in Masego.
Author’s Note: Hey guyssss! I hope that you’re all doing well as always! I’m back with another update! I had fun writing this piece! I referenced a lot of things that happened in Chapter One so let me know if you can spot them out! Pleaseee leave a comment for ya girl because I live for the commentary! I love you guys soooo much! Enjoy!!!
It was early - annoyingly early. Your eyelids were as heavy as gym weights as you staggered around your apartment grabbing last-minute items for your flight. Suddenly, your phone rang and vibrated repeatedly on the kitchen counter. You sprinted towards your phone with bags hanging from your forearms. You grinned like a school girl when you realized who was calling.
“Hello?” you answered.
“Hey, how you doing lady?” he questioned politely.
“I’m fine - I’m just running around like crazy trying to grab some last-minute things,” you responded chuckling as you continued to pack with the phone pressed against your ear.
Micah closed his eyes briefly before speaking.
“I have semi-bad news Charisma,” he said now opening them.
You stood still glaring at the doorknob of your front door with your hand resting on it. You held your breath and braced yourself for the news.
“Tell me,” you managed to say.
“Unfortunately, I have a performance at the same time that you land. I won’t be able to pick you up beautiful. But I will send chauffeur for you, I’m sorry,” he admitted solemnly.
Finally, you exhaled and twisted the doorknob to open the door.
“So promise to make it up to me,” you stated closing the door behind you.
Micah grinned from ear to ear lowly chuckling on the phone. His posture relaxed as he felt relief wash over him.
“I promise,” he answered earnestly.
“Good. Have a great show Micah,” you responded sweetly.
——
“Hello, South Africa,” Micah said as he leaned into his mic with a cunning smile resting on his full lips. His stage name “Masego” flashed behind him tastefully as he paraded back and forth on stage. His caramel pigment was covered in high-priced ruby red silk. The sound of his voice caused the crowd in front of him to scream loudly which took him by surprise pleasantly. He stopped mid-stroll, lowered the mic from his lips, and laughed to himself. The love he felt from the crowd was so organically authentic that it warmed him fully. This was the first time he actually felt a true appreciation for his craft. He quietly thanked the God above for showering these blessings on him. As his band played subtle music behind him, he placed the mic back to his lips.
“I have to tell you guys that this has been an experience for me. One of the best experiences of my life actually.” he continued as he slid his free hand in the pocket of his slacks.
“I just wanna thank you guys for that. Alright, enough of me yapping I know y’all want to hear some music,” he added. The music increased from its subtle hum gradually as Micah began singing into his mic.
“If I want you, be my lady
I’m gon’ call you
Call, call, call you, lady lady, lady lady
If I think you’d be my baby
I’m gon’ shoot my shot and call you, lady lady, lady lady
If you classy but you’re reckless
Then you gon’ get you’s a necklace, lady lady, lady lady”
——–
After what seemed to be the longest flight of your life you finally arrived in South Africa. The sun beamed down on you as if you were a flower in need of bloom. But you felt more like a flower in need of water due to the excessive heat. Your sky blue camera dangled from your neck and swayed with your every movement. You snapped pictures of things that interested you while you waited for your ride. You captured pictures of the scenery around you like the fragrant flowers, the abstract looking taxis, and the lively people. As you were focusing your lens to take another shot, your camera began to malfunction. After a couple of minutes of you fidgeting with your camera, luckily, it began to work. You brought the camera to your face again and focused the lens. In your view, you saw Micah dressed in all black holding a sign that read “Charisma” along with flowers. The corners of your lips curved upward before you snapped the shot. Seeing the sign made you think of the conversation that you and Micah had earlier this morning. You lowered your camera letting it dangle around your neck once again. You gripped the handle of one of your suitcases as you felt butterflies unapologetically flutter in your stomach. Using your freehand, you waved at him shyly.
As Micah approached you, you could feel your heart defiantly thumping harshly in your chest as if it was a captive looking for some type of escape. You were a mixture of nerves and excitement as you watched him walk your way. He exuberated so much confidence that it was hard for you to not be in awe of him. His stride was saucy - suave even. You admired the array of gold chains that resided on his almond-hued neck adding flair to his all-back outfit. You even loved the quirkiness of his untwisted hair. Within minutes, Micah was towering over you staring into your deep brown eyes.
He stared into your eyes as if they held shooting stars. He was completely captivated by you. Your skin was sunkissed to the uttermost perfection. He was certain that the sun personally came down to greet you just to kiss every inch of you. That thought alone made him jealous. He loved that your coily hair was untamed and boisterous completely exploding with wild curls. As he slightly tilted his head towards the right, his eyes trailed your body silently letting his own curiosity overwhelm him. The way your sundress clutched every one of your curves, sent his mind to erotic places. Again, his eyes met yours as he smiled at you widely before speaking.
He wrapped his arms around you gently letting his thumbs caress your back. You naturally leaned into his embrace letting your arms rest around his neck. You felt Micah’s fingers trickle down your spine causing goosebumps to sprout on your skin. He smiled to himself because he noticed.
“You look so beautiful,” he whispered in your ear as his hands sat on your lower back.
“Thank you,” you answered timidly.
As the embrace came to a mutual end, Micah presented the red roses to you. You laid the flowers on your chest while inhaling the sweet scent. As you turned your attention back to him, you noticed the evening settling into night. The sunset was timeless resting on his shoulders.
“Thank you,” you paused. “For everything,” you added keenly staring into his eyes as if you saw vast gardens. Nervousness shimmied up your arms and resided at the top of your shoulders causing you to break eye contact with him. You smiled to yourself as you directed your attention to the roses in your hand.
Micah studied you intently before caressing your face softly. His thumb rubbed your cheek repeatedly before gripping your chin. He lifted your chin gradually causing you to look him in the eye.
“It was my pleasure. Let’s get out of here,” he answered finally releasing your face.
You watched him grab your suitcases as you both walked towards the parking lot. He led you to his car and like the gentleman he is, he opened the passenger’s door for you and waited patiently for you to get in. As you entered the vehicle, you thanked him kindly. He nodded before closing the door gently. After he loaded your belongings carefully in the trunk, he joined you in the car.
You laid your head on the headrest with your bottom lip wedged between your teeth as you listened to the mellow music that filled the air. You felt at ease as you looked out of the window admiring the starry night sky as Micah drove.
“Can I ask you something?” you whispered.
“Anything,” he answered in a low tone.
“I think about that day on the elevator a lot - the conversation we shared. You told me you wanted to save me. How did you know I needed saving?” you quizzed.
With ease, Micah pulled into the driveway of the luxurious hotel and parked the car. His eyes met yours and his gaze was tender - warm.
“I believe in this thing of soul-baring. The first time I looked at you, you unknowingly uncovered your soul to me,” he said as he reclined in his seat. You noticed how his eyes danced as if he was playing the memory right in front of you.
——-
(Flashback)
After Micah settled into his hotel room, he decided to sit on the balcony for a while. As he indulged in the fresh air and the sweet melodies of the birds chirping, he opened his journal. Flashes of you kept racking his brain unmindfully. The next thing he knew, he was writing about you.
“She is many things - an infinite being. She is pain as much as she is love. She is laughter as much as she is silence. She is the moon during the day and the sun at night. During the day she is peace, stillness, and present. But at night, she is a raging fire forever burning longing to be quenched. This is the story your cat-shaped eyes told me and oh, what a ravishing compelling story it was.”
Micah closed his journal and gazed at the scenery in front of him as he periodically rubbed his chin. After a couple of minutes, he stood upright and went back inside. He connected his cell phone to his portable speaker as he plopped on the bed. He felt himself being whisked away to sleep until he heard a knock on the door followed by the words.
“Housekeeping!”
—–
“The art of eye contact is a real thing. I looked passed your beauty and saw you. And what I saw was stunning and it desperately needed to be saved.” he added as he twiddled his thumbs.
Without thinking, you grabbed his busy hands as you leaned closer to him. You formed a small smile on your lips as your hand traveled up his arm towards his face. You palmed his face as unwanted tears welled in your eyes. Micah pressed his forehead to yours as he held your hand.
“What is it?” he asked.
“This is scary,” you replied.
“What is?” he quizzed.
“How happy you make me feel,” you stated.
Micah stared into your eyes deeply studying you in a way no man ever has. He knew exactly what you needed to hear and what you needed to feel. And like the gentleman he is, he gave it to you willingly. He pressed his lips against your forehead tenderly.
“You don’t have to be afraid of how you feel - not anymore. You are safe with me Charisma,” he reassured lovingly.
Before you realized it, your lips met his. It seemed as if the kiss was dipped in honeyed passions slowly alluring to a place of heightened intimacy. Your tongue sparred with his as if it was in a perilous war. Time froze for you both as you reached your own versions of euphoria.

Lost & Found Pt. 6
Summary: You’re living a suffocating life and you finally find breath in Masego.
Author’s Note: Hi guysssss! I hope you all are doing well! Due to life getting in the way, it took me forever to update. I love you guys so much!!! I hope you guys enjoy this chapter! Please leave a comment for ya girl!
You laid in bed comfortably letting your curls freely rest messily on the silk mustard yellow pillow beneath you. You subconsciously hummed the music that played softly in your bedroom as you closed your eyes briefly to only rest them for a mere moment. Absentmindedly, you placed both hands on your stomach letting your thumbs twiddle around each other creating an eternal dance. You were treading your thoughts like still water utterly and gracefully failing at every attempt of trying not to think about Micah. It was another night where the overwhelming sense of longing hovered over you. You tried to reason with yourself that in less than 24 hours you would be in South Africa enjoying his company but in this moment, that wasn’t enough. You missed him and you missed him heavily. It seemed as if you ached for him in a way that you couldn’t understand. Removing you rudely from your ongoing thoughts, you felt the subtle vibrations coming from your phone as it buzzed beside you. You unlocked the phone and noticed an unread iMessage from Micah. You smiled a small smile to yourself as you sat up and relaxed your back on the headboard of your bed.
“I’m still trying to get this time difference thing down. Are you awake?”
“I’m awake, what are you doing?” you responded back eagerly.
“Missing you, thinking about you, wanting you - you know the usual,” he admitted frankly.
Before you could text back, Micah quickly sent another message.
“What are you doing?” He quizzed.
You bit down on your lip and rubbed your hands on your bare thighs repeatedly before texting back.
“I was thinking about you too …” you responded.
“Is it cool if I call you?”
“It’s more than cool.” You texted back.
Immediately your phone began to ring revealing an upcoming FaceTime call from Micah. Quickly, you ran towards the mirror in your room looking yourself over to make sure that your appearance was decent. After you deemed yourself suitable for the call, you answered the phone.
“Hey,” you whispered warmly. “I’m all packed for my flight tomorrow.” You added as you sat on your bed casually resting your spine against the harsh surface of the headboard.
Smiling at you fully, Micah leaned back in his chair massaging his chin as he licked his lips. His eyes were full of pure admiration for you. His eyes slowly roamed your face gradually taking in your beauty in hopes he wouldn’t become bewildered by you. But the thing is, he was already bewildered by you. Allured in the deepest sense of the word - you pulled on his heart until it ached. Quickly, you became his torturer and his salvation.
“Since you said yes, I’ve been counting the hours,” he responded.
Unknowing to you, your timid grin grew inch by inch blossoming into a wide appreciating smile.
“Let me show you something,” you stated.
“Do I need to close my eyes first?” he quizzed light-heartedly placing his hands over his eyes while peeking every so often.
“Matter of fact? Yes,” you answered while giggling at his childish antics. After opening the door to your closet, you crouched down and pulled the step-stool out of its assigned corner. You stepped on the step-stool carefully making sure that you maintained balance. You smiled at Micah periodically as you reached for your sky blue camera. Finally, you stepped off of the stool letting your feet meet the plushness of your carpet again. You carried the stool back to its rightful station and then parted the clothes hanging in your closet creating an open gap. You turned on the closet’s light letting it illume that small area. Afterward, you took three steps back.
“Open your eyes, Micah,” you said.
Micah did as you instructed. He watched you flip the camera’s view giving him new scenery. His eyes wandered the wall of your closet admiring the scattered array of photographs formulating the perfect collage. He noticed how all the photos towards the left were shot in hues of grey, black, and white. The collage held a vast amount of life - it breathed, it flowed, and it was absolutely moving. Each picture told its own story taking Micah’s eyes on a quiet journey. He wondered how it was possible to feel so many things at once - joy, laughter, pain, and loss. Micah was utterly astounded at your ability to capture emotion so candidly.
“So this is me,” you said as you brought him closer to the closet in hopes he could get a better look with a newly brought angle.
“As I told you before, life has not been very kind to me in the past. It felt like everything about me was bleak and dark,” you said.
“The white and black photos represent that?” Micah questioned.
“Yes. Here, in the middle the colors of the photos become neutral. They’re not completely vibrant but you can see slight hints of color.” you explained.
“Representing life getting better?” he asked.
“That’s the idea,” you said while sitting in front of your closet casually crossing your legs.
“The complexity of your mind is beautiful Charisma,” he said earnestly as his eyes continued to dance across the masterpiece. Suddenly, Micah squinted his eyes and leaned into the camera.
“Thank you,” you whispered sweetly.
“Hold up? Is that me?” he questioned with much excitement.
“I was waiting for you to notice that part. I took that particular photo with this camera. This one is my favorite.” you answered while giggling and flashing your sky blue digital camera.
“Wait! Wait! I’m on the wall? My girl got me on the mothertrucking wall!” he exclaimed while patting and rubbing his chest theatrically as if he was evening out stubborn wrinkles. Flipping the camera back to your face, you smiled widely as your giggles shifted into boisterous laughter.
Micah leaned back in his chair with a permanent beam on his face. “Wow, my lady is a photographer,” he said as he stared at you willingly letting his mind run away with him.
“My lady? As in I’m yours?” you asked feeling butterflies form in the pit of your stomach.
“Only with your permission,” he explained.
“You’re unfair you know that?” you replied as a smirk formed on your lips. You groaned and leaned on the closest wall to you.
“How so?” he responded while resting his chin in the palm of his hand as his elbow sat on the armrest of the chair.
“You make me ache. I really miss you,” you admitted.
“You make me ache too. But first, tell me how can I soothe yours?” he asked calmly.
“I just want to feel you,” you said lowly.
Micah knew that the words that are most potent are often not spoken. He read between your parallel lines and inserted the words that needed to be there. Micah stood upright and closed the door in front of him. He dimmed the bright lights in his hotel room and sat back down.
“Where do you want to feel me the most?” he asked. He felt himself awakening and hardening by each passing moment. Again, willingly letting his mind run away with him.
“I want to feel you everywhere right now,” you answered boldly staring at him.
“Show me,” he demanded.
