I would give anything to be able to see how the world looks through the eyes of a mantis shrimp. it's been a deeply felt desire of mine for a very long time now and I will not know satisfaction until it is somehow requited
I'll have your signature, please.

I hate you shipping discourse I hate you unnecessarily aggressive DNI banners I hate you dehumanization of those you disagree with I hate you harassment over ships or favorite characters I hate you purposeful lack of nuance I hate you false equivalencies I hate you policing how people engage in fandom I hate you actively trying to make fandom spaces hostile I hate you refusal to filter your feed I hate you making it everyone else’s problem
this is what is happening between us when i like your vent post
i get so emotional every time i think about fanfic culture. it's just so beautiful that people are writing and anonymously posting these thousand-word stories about characters we all love and not even getting any money or public fame from it. it's literally just for the love of the game.
shout out to everyone who participates in fanfic culture, be it reading or writing fanfics. you are contributing to such a lovely thing <3
i DO believe that a good writer can make mischaracterization work. oh there's a character who doesn't normally cry? figure it out!! dissect the character. make the situation cryable for them. make that character cry ugly tears even if it goes against their very nature. YOU CAN MAKE IT WORK!!!
sometimes u headcanon a character as a sexuality but then also ship things that contradict that. sometimes you ship things you would NEVER EVER want in canon. this is because these things are fun and silly and not legally binding.
before there was Online there was lying on the floor and studying the patterns of the carpet and tracing it with your finger
I actually recommend everyone write for a rarepair once because it completely changes your relationship with fandom. Engagement stops being numbers and starts being names. You know who's going to show up. You recognize usernames. Someone disappears for a while and then comes back and you're like “OH MY GOD WELCOME HOME.” It's incredibly wholesome. It is also deeply inconvenient when all six of you simultaneously get writer's block-
that is actually my main principle of explicit fic is that the personalities stay On during sex.
The amount of times I’ve read scenes in explicit fics and thought “they would not say that shit”
every time wyll's story progresses gale has to come in like "I'm so glad I'm smart enough to have chosen not to be a warlock ☝️". like okay man. one of us has a nuke in his chest and i'm pretty sure it's not mr warlock over there. but the fuck do i know.
Speaking about Zutara artists... It saddens me how some of them post Zutara arts and often apologize for it. It goes like "please no ship bashing", "i understand it's not everyone's cup of tea, but be respectful", "sorry for this, but i love it". How people be like "i despise the ship but art is good", "i forgive you for shipping that because i like you as artist" and these are considered as nice comments, i won't even mention others (you know what it is), and the artists will still give thanks to them. The audacity is unbelievable, but the artists must stay polite somehow. And they stay polite, they stay in their own lane and people are still mad. It saddens and angers me because artists don't deserve this kind of treatment. I really appreciate Zutara artists, they are amazing and gracious, i'm forever grateful for creating arts back then and now. All my love to them <3
