My heart is wrenched! So many sordid testimonies of gender based violence and femicide in our communities! The Mamelodi Thuthuzela Care Centre, which we visited today together with Deputy Minister of Police, Mr Mathale, Gauteng MEC of Social Development, Ms Mosopyoe, and MEC of Community Safety, Ms Mazibuko, caters for an average of 50 sexual offences in a month. The number is increasing. The people who are supposed to look after us, who are suppose to be our partners, are turning the sword on us as women. We have to deal with this contradictions in society and build a new narrative that will assist in rebuilding the moral fibre of our society. I was encouraged by the testimonies of two women who have conquered gender based violence. These women are exampler and have chosen to use their experiences to help other women. Tomorrow we will be conducting frontline monitoring at the Mamelodi Thuthuzela Care Centre and host a women empowerment dialogue together with the Deputy Minister will be accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Health, Joe Phaahla, Deputy Minister of Police, Cassel Mathale and Gauteng MEC of Community Safety, Nonhlanhla Faith Mazibuko. Today we are in Mudavula and Vuwani to talk to young men who are football players about Gender Based Violence and Femicide. Young men have an important role to play in dealing with this pandemic. Our visit started at Hosi Mudavula, who emphatically said:"When i see a woman, I see my mother and not an object. I had a working lunch with the leadership of the Aviation Development Africa. We discussed possible partnerships and transformation in the Aviation space. As Presidency we will be engaging with various departments to coordinate programs and champion transformation.
