tumblr has now blocked the Luigi Mangione tag ā "luigi mangione", the "deny defend depose" tag, and other tags such as "luigi mangione thoughts", "united healthcare" and "UHC shooter", tags which have been used by tumblr users to spread information about Luigi and the cases against him since he was arrested in December 2024. the Luigi Mangione tag being blocked on tumblr also means that nobody on tumblr can actually search his name to find out information about him on this site. this is blatant censorship, to effectively prevent people from speaking up for Luigi or sharing information about him. censorship of this kind, specifically regarding Luigi, hasn't been seen on social media sites in about a year, when reddit and tiktok had both censored Luigi's name being used on their sites earlier last year.
this happening on tumblr, a site that was a safe space for people to share information and keep track of the cases against him, is unacceptable and should not be tolerated. tumblr should revert back their decision to block both the Luigi Mangione tag and the "deny defend depose" tag immediately, because all of those posts from 13+ months with thousands of notes are currently inaccessible via search and all of those posts should not be hidden away and users should be allowed to continue sharing and looking for information about Luigi on this site.
as a long time tumblr user, i find this censorship unacceptable and i will not bow down and stop talking about Luigi because of this. i am however afraid that after the latest crackdown on support for Luigi (most posts supporting and sharing information about him were tagged with his name), this blog and other Luigi supportive blogs would also be unfairly terminated. if that happens, i hope the record shows that i do not intend to delete this blog or cease speaking about Luigi's cases here of my own will and that i have never encouraged violence or violated tumblr's user guidelines in any way.
