My Pet Peeves of tomioka's characterization in fanfiction
Disclaimer: This is my (very strong) opinion, I would never send hate to people who do this because he's not real. He is simply my favorite.
I just wanted to share because these thoughts have lived rent-free in my mind
"Giyuu can't swim" YES HE CAN??? UROKODAKI TRAINED HIM??? HE WAS THROWN OFF A WATERFALL!! RESPECT MY MAN'S TRAINING !
When people write him as dumb, yes he's not the best at socializing (he interacted with a limited number of people during his formative years and later isolated himself, at the end of the day socializing is a skill that needs practice) but he's not stupid, we know that he knows how to take care of his wounds, he's disciplined, pragmatic, responsible and observant.
That he cannot do well in a cold climate. Again, urokodaki trained him in Mount sagiri. He is probably the most adaptable to cold weather (after recovering from his hypothermia).
"He's reckless/irresponsible with his body." Again, he's disciplined, and he simply wouldn't do things to hinder his fighting abilities. This includes getting plenty of sleep, eating full meals, and training.
That he has no backbone, I hate when people misinterpreted his dislike of confrontation with inability of defending himself, HE'S NOT A DEFENSELESS INFANT, HE WILL SPEAK UP IF HE FINDS IT NECESSARY, he would just rather not (is clear that he's a person who doesn't like fighting for the sake of it).
For now that's all I'm gonna say, I just really dislike when people make him less capable than he is, because despite what he thinks, he is extremely capable, he has crazy endurance and speed, quick critical thinking and can keep a cool head in almost every situation, overall he is an extremely competent person (AND DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON HOW MUCH OF A KIND AND SIMPLY GOOD PERSON HE IS) so yeah I just love him a lot and wish people stop dumbing him down and infantilizing him.
