Sasuke shook his head, “No Ino, you need to go lay down and rest. You’re not feeling well and I can tell.” He told her as he gently held her hand. “Please, let me help with the arrangements. You go take care of yourself.”

“But this shop’s my responsibility. I... wouldn’t want you to feel obligated to work here for the day just because I’m not feeling as great as I normally do.” She sighs tiredly, feeling like a bit of a burden for not being able to take care of this. After all, she knows his ventures take quite a bit out of him, and she didn’t want to add on to them. “You’ve got a lot on your plate as is, and I can’t just ask this of you.”

Sakura emerged from her bath and got a hold of a towel to get herself dry. She didn’t noticed that Ino contemplated her for a moment, until the pinkette’s eyes were set on her. Instead of an angry outburst to the blonde, Haruno noticed the other’s cheeks being flushed. Still it was difficult to process it.

In order to break this tense silence surrounding the two kunoichis, Sakura spoke up.

“Are you alright, Ino? You almost look like you have fever. Tell me, what is it?”

The blonde snapped her head up to look at the other kunoichi, trying to get her mind out of the gutter, considering what she had just witnessed. “Huh? O-Oh… N-No, I’m fine!”

She could only curse herself for her uncharacteristic stuttering. Could this get any more awkward? Not like it wasn’t bad enough that she’d had feelings for her best friend, but now this? However was Ino going to get herself out of this mess?

She couldn’t just tell Sakura she liked her that way, could she? What if it put a strain on their friendship?

Still, she couldn’t just leave her question unanswered. She had to think of something, and quick.

“Yeah, Sakura’s determined alright. Although, just like dedication, if used the wrong way, it’s more of a curse than a blessing, especially to those around her.” He sighed. “She was pretty determined to see Naruto as nothing more than a pest for quite a while, after all… Then again, I suppose that wasn’t too uncommon back then…” He gave a soft chuckle, even if he was one of the first to note Naruto’s talents and want to test them, back during the Chuunin exams.

“Of course, can’t exactly let myself stray and go back to square one after all the improvement. And while that may be, given time, I’m sure even “geniuses” tend to more often than not correct their actions and take things more seriously, or so I’d like to believe.” She responded. “I mean it worked out for Neji, so it could work out for others as well.”

“Perhaps, but she’s changed a lot since then. She couldn’t exactly have stayed the same fangirl forever.” She said with a soft giggle. “Not like he gave people that much room to see him as more than that at first. He was pretty immature way back when, with his pranks and failure at jutsu... However, as people got to know him better, that mindset was bound to change.”

Ino found her cheeks flush at the very scene in front of her, trying to avert her gaze to another direction, but to no avail. Had her best friend always been that attractive? She wondered as her eyes scanned the pinkette’s body up and down.

Not that Ino didn’t already think Sakura was pretty or anything, but she’d never really imagined seeing her like this before. Crossing the line on their friendship was the last thing she’d do. Then again, why else would Sakura leave the bathroom door unlocked? As far as the Yamanaka knew, they were the only two inside the household.

Did the Haruno want her to take her shot, or was this simply wishful thinking from the blonde’s part? She certainly hoped it was the former.

However, her words seemed to fail her. Between her heavy lidded eyes and shaky movements, it was evident she wasn’t well.

She knew that as well as him, but she didn’t exactly want him to feel obligated to help out either. The shop was her responsibility, not his.
