Just as a side note, I don’t want to jinx myself, but I’m attempting to do nanowrimo
It’s weird that I can’t feel myself growing. I blink, and I’m seven. And I’m that same person. I can’t believe that person doesn’t know me. I want to tell her I’m sorry.
Hello,
I hope you don’t mind but I just wanted to say that ‘to those who wait’ means so much to me right now - and probably will for a long time.
You’re amazing, thank you.
(Mind if I private message you?)
I’m so glad :’( I love hearing about these poems impacting people other than myself. And of course you can message me!
How do you write such beautiful poetry. I have to write a poem for my class and I can't get past the first line. I keep getting stuck in my head
I’m sorry this has been sitting in my inbox for a week! I haven’t been on, as classes have recently started for me again.
It depends on the type of poem you need to write, but if it’s free verse, I’d recommend forgetting about the poem aspect at first and just write what you’d like to write about.
For example, if the prompt is “summer”, then maybe you’d write something like “it would be cool to talk about how the temperature of the air changes so subtly and then all at once. I also like that I have new memories from the summer. But when I think of those memories, I feel sad. I like that I can go out to the ocean whenever I want.”
Then, you could alter that into “The air changes from warm to cold so quietly / but when it finally does change, it goes all at once / My memories are golden, but I can’t afford the price when September comes / The ocean knows me so well by the end of the day.”
Sometimes, it might turn into poetry by itself, sometimes it just takes forgetting the rigid structure of a “poem” for a little while. I hope this helps!
