Sherlock gave a shrug, not really caring if the man was relieved he wasn’t a suspect or not. Well, not to him at least. The Yard would probably waste all sorts of time questioning the American man. While they did that, he would be tracking down the real killer. Like usual. Just another day working a case really.
“Yes, being a copper holds no interest for me. I’m a consulting detective, the only one in the world. I invented the job.” Sherlock was clearly proud of the fact, by the way he spoke and held himself with an air of confidence and even arrogance. “I’m far more interesting than some character from a book or show on the telly.” The mere thought seemed to offend him and he gave a slight huff at the thought.
A dismissive hand was waved. “Yes…yes, I already figured out you were American Mr. Graham.” At the moment, none of that information seemed helpful. Except for drinking whiskey. “Where did you get the drink from? Is it possible someone could have tampered with it?” Rohypnol maybe? The so called ‘date-rape drug’ was known for causing memory loss and of course rendering the victim unconscious.
“Must have been necessary,” he commented, making sure not to say it too loud. He didn’t want to insult the police right now and he hadn’t been all serious anyway. But the police let the strange detective in, so he probably did a good job with the consulting. He nodded his head, not really in a mood for discussion whether he was interesting or not. He probably was and if Will had felt a bit more sure of his situation he would probably have started analyzing the other man straight away.
He was a bit surprised that he wasn’t asked further about who he was, but it eased him too much to question it. The worst about knowing about crime investigation was the knowledge of how a case should be handled. He probably didn’t do it the right way anyway. “I don’t know, it probably is. Bought the rest of a bottle from the bar at the hotel I’m staying at. It’s still in my room, I guess.” He should probably just have stayed at the bar while he had the drink, but it was too late to change it now. “I don’t see why anyone would gain by doing it. I only got here a few days ago.”
