It had been a slow day in the store and out of boredom Aleksandria put her earphones in and began to sing along to the song that came on as she fixed a rack of dresses. She had a strong singing voice which was rarely heard by anybody other than her family She continued to sing along before she turned around to see somebody staring at her. “I’m sorry I didn’t hear you,do you need help finding anything”.She asked turning off the music and placing her headphones down beside her.

Theo had entered the store with such curiousity, he was surprised he hadn't went in before. He had walked past this store a thousand times. On a whim of trying to make the entry to the Animal Clinic more inviting, he thought he might buy something. He heard the girl before he saw her and raised an eyebrow at her. "Well.. er--I was just looking for something that would make the Animal Clinic more.. Welcoming?"

      “You feel that right ??” He asked warily, glancing at the other. “It’s like…it’s like there’s a sickness in the air. Something fucked up is going on around here.”

Theo was surprised, he thought he was the only one who noticed and he hadn't said anything about it aloud. "Yes, I think there's something very wrong with this town. More so than usual.”

Watching the puppy with bright eyes, she looked back at the man and shrugged slightly. “I definitely would like to know what they’re thinking, that’s for sure.” She commented happily before looking back at the male once he scoffed a bit. “I like to think that animals are the best judges of characters and the ‘rejects’— as you put it, are often looked over.” Explanations came easily for the youngest Teslow; which made her smile. “I’m Cecilia, by the way.”

Nodding earnestly, he reached his hand up to scratch the puppy's head. "Very true," he commented thoughtfully. "This little one's a pitbull, and people tend to misjudge them. It's quite sad cause they're actually very sweet.." he trailed off, realizing he was babbling. "Theo Ainsworth," he offered his hand to shake.

Olivia nodded at Theo and took off her lab coat and left it on her chair and stood. She laughed and replied, “Thanks for asking. I actually had a good day… Lots of dogs today but at least all of them were healthy. I would say that makes for a good day.” She grabbed her purse off the floor and asked, “Are you ready to go? Because I could really use a drink right about…” She paused looking down at her watch, “now.” She almost forgot before the two headed out. “Oh, how was your day?” Olivia was always bad with social cues, this was why she didn’t have a lot of friends.

"Then we're both ready, let's go," he said, walking in front of Olivia to hold the door open for her. At the root of it, Theo was very polite, his father had always been very strict about manners despite his madness. "My day..." He pondered. "Well, it was shit. There was too much paperwork and not enough of the animal stuff." He shrugged, knowing that it came with the territory of owning an animal clinic. "But it wasn't bad enough that I can't forget the whole thing after a couple dozen drinks," he grinned mischievously.

Olivia had just finished up checking up on a very old Chocolate Lab, making sure she was still healthy at her age. She had just sighed the form for an x-ray on her hip, just to be safe… When Theo walked in. Theo owned the animal clinic and over the past few months, the two had become quite close… Probably because their lack of emotional displays of affection, love of animals and alcohol. She closed her file and put it in the cabinet beside her desk. She laughed as Theo spoke, glad the two would be consuming some alcohol this evening. “I’m ready, I just need to get my bag. Where do you want to go tonight?”

"Hmm.." He mused. "I'm a creature of habit, let's just do the usual." Theo was always glad that Olivia was just as much a drinker as he was. He didn't like drinking with his family and drinking by himself was reserved for nights in the comfort of his own home. Despite popular belief, Theo did sometimes like company though and this was one of those occasions. "So I suppose I have to be a good boss and ask how your day was?"

“Hey, I take my time, alright?” Right. As if taking your time had anything to do with that. Even he did not sound like he believed a word of that.

“Probably, yeah. I’m not used to that, that’s all.” Took some time to change century old habits. “I would ask you to be my guide but I’m one annoying tourist.”

Theo laughed quietly. "Alright, alright, take your damn time," he said jokingly.

"Really? Why's that?"

Theo had spent all day doing the one thing that he hated most about his job: paperwork. Because of this he was in dire need of some serious alcohol therapy. When he finally signed his last bill he stood up, left his office, and went searching for his usual drinking buddy. He walked up to Olivia's office door and knocked before opening it. "It's five o'clock and your boss is going to need more than a few drinks to recover from this shit day."

Lucy was reaching up, trying to restock the top shelf, praying she didn’t need to dig out her stepladder. She heard the bell ring and turned around, wiping her hands on her jeans. Lucy spotted Theo and smirked, matching his casual stance against the wall. “Hey babe,” she grinned. “Oh, you know, clearing my afternoon.”

With a chuckle, Theo looked up at Lucy and grinned. "You must be psychic," he said cheekily. It wasn't often that he had free time but when he did, he typically found himself around her. "And what shall we do with this lovely afternoon?"

The door hinges squeaked a bit when Theo pushed open the door to the Sultry Psychic. He closed the door behind him and walked around the shop until he spotted Lucy. With a boyish grin, he marched up to her and leaned against the wall, acting nonchalant. "So," he started, almost chuckling. "What're you up to?"

“Heh, me neither. I guess I’ll move out once I’ll have seen everything to be seen in here,”

“Fifteen years. That’s a long time,” he observed, although he didn’t believe that. Fifteen years was nothing to him, although it was longer than he usually stayed in one place. “I traveled around for a while, I guess I wanted a place to lay back a little.”

"Yea," Theo nodded, running a hand over his beard. "I guess it's a nice place to stop if you're tired of running all the time."

"Although if you haven't already seen everything this tiny ass town has to offer, you should probably get out of this garage more often."

The witch picked up on the werewolf’s confused expression and slowly shook her head before breaking out into a cheeky smile. “Uh…I take that as a no then?” Referring to the fact that he wasn’t considering the thought of caring. “Well at least you guess, rather than having a mindset that all of us are horrible.” replied Allegra as she shed some light to his comment. “Suit yourself, but who knows? Maybe there’ll be a day where you’ll actually put in effort with someone.” Glancing down at the pup, she went ahead to pet it and adds, “But for now, at least these cute animals have someone as deserving as you in their lives.”

Theo tilted his head and looked at the witch with a sad smile then covered it with a stern look. "Well then I guess you'll have to deal with the people and I'll deal with the animals. Together maybe there can be just a bit of harmony in this town," he taunted. "Or we could just say screw it and cause a bit of mayhem. What do you say?"

“I bought the place about 5 years ago,” he replied, glancing up as he started to get the wheels undone. “That’s how long.”

“What about you? Are you part of those who were born here, and will die here? Or are you a new comer as well?” Edgar found that in this town, there were no in between, never.

Theo chuckled, the thought of his birth and his death had become almost comical. "Wasn't born here, might die here but I doubt it. I think I'll stay for awhile though, there's no where else like it."

"I suppose in the grandscheme, I'm a newcomer. Been here about fifteen years. I think most people came here looking for something. So what'd you come here for?"

      Night swimming had always been part of his life. From a younger age, he could remember dipping into cold water on summer nights thick with heat and the song of cicadas in the background as his sisters kept their laughs quiet so as not to let their parents know they were out. He could remember his father taking him down to the lake in order to teach him how to swim, how to manoeuvre that water, but know that he’d never get away from a mermaid or siren without a concealed weapon.

      Relaxation took hold of him until there was a noise that had the male turning and swimming closer to the shore of the lake. “Who’s out there?” He called, eyes narrowing as he struggled to see in the dark. His weapons were next to his clothes, too far away to reach in time if it was a threat, but he felt his hand to hand combat was good enough to stall until he could reach his gun.

Theo had heard someone in the water from half a mile away and went to investigate. It was late and curiosity was taking over which he knew was probably a bad thing. It wasn’t until he was close enough to see the weapons settled next to a pile of clothes and coming to the conclusion that this man was a hunter. Still, Theo was brazen enough to keep walking forward and if he was able to catch the hunter off guard, he was hoping to have a bit of fun.

Stepping out of the trees, he walked towards the pile of clothes, knowing there’d be a weapon there. Guns couldn’t kill him, but they definitely stung. His eyes glowed red in the darkness until he got far enough out of the woods for the moonlight to shine on him. With a grin, Theo kicked around at the clothes until he found the gun. “Oh, just little old me.”

“You do that,” Edgar replied, taking off his jacket and searching quickly through his drawers for the right tools.

“For the parts and the labor, I’d say $300.” Pointing at the car lift, the shifter added: “Just park it here, I’ll go get the pads.”

Theo sighed. "Yea, I guess that sounds about right."

He pulled the car into the spot and jumped out, slamming the door behind him. Theo breathed in, trying to assess what kind of creature this man was. Immediately, he knew he was a shifter. "So, uh..." Trying at some semblance of small talk, he continued. "How long have you worked here?"

Chuckling softly, Allegra tucked a hair behind her ear as she listened to Theo’s reply. It was worth a shot to offer such a suggestion, even if she had expected how the werewolf felt about doing such a thing. “Hm, yeah, don’t ever change.” replied the witch with a dry tone, before breaking out into a laugh. “It’s sort of the same way you treat puppies and animals like this one.” pointed out Allegra as she diverted her gaze to the pup in his coat. “I’m not saying you should scoop them up with your arms and keep them warm Ainsworth. What I am saying is to give some people a chance, some of us aren’t that bad you know? But because of history and whatnot, I can understand why you’d prefer sticking with what you do.” She paused before pursing her lips together and saying, “Uh…I don’t know, I just do it. Caring doesn’t necessarily come with a handbook, it’s just how you feel about the other person and whether they’re worth caring for I guess?”

The thought of actually caring about other people was foreign to Theo and he raised an eyebrow in confusion. How was he supposed to know if someone was worth caring about? He found himself wondering when the last time he actually cared about anything was. "Yea, I guess some of you aren't horrible. Just most," he offered a wry smile. The eldest Ainsworth shrugged and sighed. "I think I'll stick to animals, humans seem like too much effort. And with animals I don't actually have to talk to them."

Allegra sighed before shrugging in response. “No, not most of the time, it’s just human nature. We eventually grow accustomed to it and it’s usually rewarding if you find the feeling to be worth it.” For someone who cared too much, the elemental witch truly felt the need to hold the weight of the world on her shoulders. She couldn’t help it, and as much as it was exhausting, she finds it to be worth it in the end, whether the outcome was big or small. Chuckling at Theo’s response, Allegra then said, “It’s a nice feeling. Aside from it making you feel good about yourself, just seeing the change you made in their lives makes a huge difference.” She paused before raising a brow, “You should try it sometime.” she joked.

"I don't know about that," he chuckled. Theo didn't really see himself as the giving back sort of person but figured maybe he'd try it sometime. Not necessarily to do something good, but to see what it's like. He couldn't have anyone in this town knowing he was thinking about doing something against his nature though, it would show weakness in his eyes. "I think I'll stick to doing what I do best, selfish endeavors that only benefit me," he joked lightheartedly. "How would I even go about doing that? Helping people, I mean. How do you do that?”
